ILoveYou3000 · 29/11/2020 12:28

Okay. So why do you respect some of your child’s legal and human rights but not others?

Go on enlighten me, which of my child's human rights am I not respecting?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/11/2020 12:29

@JesusInTheCabbageVan because if it won't die by itself, I will help it😂

ILoveYou3000 · 29/11/2020 12:30

Govt. guidelines don't say anything about bread, water or buckets. Plus all those things are non-essential so we don't tend to have them in the house.

I get it. Don't want them turning into spoilt entitled brats who start demanding their liberty and human rights.

ILoveYou3000 · 29/11/2020 12:30

@SchrodingersImmigrant Are you having anything nice for dinner today?

Has anyone made any decision on rugs?

flaviaritt · 29/11/2020 12:31

The right to individual liberty. It’s a real right. Do you not know that?

ILoveYou3000 · 29/11/2020 12:32

The right to individual liberty. It’s a real right. Do you not know that?

And I've not respected that right with her, how exactly?

Having a fish with chorizo, rosemary, rice and pan fried veggies and practically a fruit😂 (broccoli, french beans and tomato). Few splashes of Tabasco on top.

You?

And no rugs here

So you don't think we should respect the thread's right not to die?

flaviaritt · 29/11/2020 12:36

www.clarkewillmott.com/blog/can-consent-deprivation-liberty-children-young-persons/#:~:text=A%20person%20can%20be%20deprived%20of%20their%20liberty,or%20young%20person%20is%20deprived%20of%20their%20liberty.

This is the relevant legal analysis. Have a read.

Courts have ruled that when children are over the age of (approximately) 11, removal of their liberty for any not-negligible period is likely to be considered an unlawful deprivation unless such a deprivation has been authorised by the State.

It’s interesting stuff.

Since the law only goes so far as to tell people to self-isolate and to remain apart from others if they can, there is no legal authority (under my interpretation) for parents to lock up teenagers for any such non-negligible period (days or weeks at a time).

It’s against the law.

🤷🏻‍♀️

That sounds amazing!! My toad-in-the-hole sounds a bit boring now, but bloody kids insisting we stick with our traditional Christmas tree putting up day meal!

ILoveYou3000 · 29/11/2020 12:37

So you don't think we should respect the thread's right not to die?

But is it a legal right?

flaviaritt · 29/11/2020 12:37

And I've not respected that right with her, how exactly?

I don’t know. You don’t appear to respect her right to liberty, as you are arguing the toss about it.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/11/2020 12:37

So you don't think we should respect the thread's right not to die?

Not only that I don't think that. I am actively trying to murder it😂

ILoveYou3000 · 29/11/2020 12:38

I don’t know. You don’t appear to respect her right to liberty, as you are arguing the toss about it.

And you say I can't read.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 29/11/2020 12:39

@flaviaritt not sure if you're still on the thread, but what are you having for dinner?

I'm doing beef rib stew with dumplings and chocolate raspberry brownies for dessert.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/11/2020 12:39

I like toad in a hole! Haven't had it for a while. It's not really diet friendly and i am on one😂

flaviaritt · 29/11/2020 12:40

And you say I can't read.

I am perfectly willing to listen if you want to contradict me and say you think it’s wrong to confine a teenager to their room against their will. That’s my position. Feel free to come on over.
