Or am I missing something?
As with me, my friend lives away from her new DP. They spent the first lockdown together but she travelled home when the new lockdown came into force. She lives about an hour away.
Today, she is posting on FB with her partner, a photo of them both in the kitchen making Christmas cake.
None of them are single households and it was definitely taken today.

OP posts:
Doods3 · 22/11/2020 18:31

Oh get over it. I'm very happy for them. GOOD. Anyone thick enough to think there's any science behind these ridiculous rules need to oil that rusty sheep brain of theirs

lazylinguist · 22/11/2020 18:35

Curious my arse. Curious about what? You know they are breaking the rules and you either want to start a bunfight or see if people are going to encourage you to report them.

nosswith · 22/11/2020 18:45

No sympathy for someone stupid enough to post something contrary to the Covid 19 regulations on social media.

Assuming you have reported this OP let us know what happens.

Whammyyammy · 22/11/2020 19:00

Mind your own. Self appointed Covid marshall....

Ineke · 22/11/2020 19:04

You don't know the details though, maybe she has moved out from her familiy's home and into their partners after taking a test and self isolating before hand. If we have Christmas, my family will be doing the same, taking tests and self isolating for 14 days before staying over, even if households are allowed to mix by then, I am not taking the risk of giving it to anyone. Some have no symptoms, some die horribly. I don't want to be responsible for that.

GreenlandTheMovie · 22/11/2020 19:06

On the basis that such a rule almost certainly wouldn't stand up in court if challenged on human rights grounds, as it is disproportionate in relation to the public health risk and has been in place for too long, YABU.

And its none of your business. I hate Stasi wannabees more than minor rule breakers.

BigBadVoodooHat · 22/11/2020 19:48

Just curious that's all

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Sure, Jan.

DreamTheMoors · 22/11/2020 21:53

Take the USA for example...

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 22/11/2020 21:55

I thought that partners who lived in separate households were allowed to mix anyway? Or does that depend on tier or part of the UK?

BugCatcher879 · 22/11/2020 21:58

OP people just do what the fuck they want now. The virus is rampant and many more will die. No one gives a fuck about others just their own inability to not get exactly what they want instantly. It's utterly shit.

BigBadVoodooHat · 22/11/2020 22:46

No one gives a fuck about others just their own inability to not get exactly what they want instantly.

Literally no one? Not one single person other than the virtuous duo of you and the OP? Or just some people? Hmm

Choccylips · 22/11/2020 22:59

you sound like one of the snitches from the 1984 novel. Or could you be one of those old cronies with big pinny and turban a hair roller sticking out of the front with a miserable screwed up face while you gossip nasty things about everyone and everything that doesn't suit your way of thinking.

Mamanyt · 23/11/2020 00:50

Well, you're never being unreasonable to be surprised by anything at all. If you're surprised, you just are. HOWEVER...these are both adults. You do not know the reason, or if there are bubbles involved, nor is it really your business. Caveat to that last statement...If your friend is in your bubble, then it becomes your business. If not, let it go. Her choice. Not, perhaps, a wise one, but her choice.

Nipoleon · 23/11/2020 01:25

Get a life please! I can see why organisations like the Hitler Youth thrived in Germany reading posts like this!

SheepandCow · 23/11/2020 01:32

A these 'none of your business' people.
Would you say the same about drink driving?

It's everybody's business when we have 70,000 deaths - the 5th highest death rate in the whole world, at least 60,000 Long Covid sufferers facing potentially long-term disability, and many traumatised NHS workers (some icu nurses were sectioned after the first wave).

SheepandCow · 23/11/2020 01:34

Yes indeed. The attitudes towards the elderly and vulnerable are absolutely the same as those held by the Nazis. Fascist eugenics. Nasty!
Ineke · 23/11/2020 04:15

Gosh, people seem to be getting a tad nasty here,

Crustmasiscoming · 23/11/2020 04:59

YANBU, Christmas cake is horrible and no one should be making it, let alone posting about it on fb.

walksen · 23/11/2020 05:05

Maybe they work in an Industry where infection seems almost guaranteed like prisons, police, hospitals, schools or have secondary age kids. Working in many of those areas is soul destroying right now. People need some escape and begin to tell wonder why they should put their lives on hold when they have either been infected already or have seen most of their colleagues get it and no one cares about that/ them?

TheKrakening3 · 23/11/2020 05:35

@HelloMissus

I saw Goody Proctor mixing a bowl of currants.
🤣
SingANewSongChickenTikka · 23/11/2020 06:52

It pisses me off too OP, the rules really aren’t that hard to follow, and if you choose to ignore them then it’s not that hard to do it subtly. That said, it’s much easier just to let it wash over you at this point.
The references to people worried about how many people are ignoring the rules as Nazis etc are really childish and offensive, maybe some posters could make use of their time in lockdown by brushing up on their history knowledge.

Bluesheep8 · 23/11/2020 07:11

No OP they shouldn’t be doing this at all. People should be sticking to the rules. It’s selfish people, like this, who think the rules don’t apply to them who are going to continue to spread the virus. None of us want to be in lockdown, but the numbers wouldn’t be so high if people just followed the rules.

Agreed. Someone near me has got about 5 separate bubbles. And has all their bubbles round regularly. At the same time.
I haven't seen my family for months. Because I have stuck to the rules. Makes me very resentful.

HugeAckmansWife · 23/11/2020 07:37

Just to pile on... I'm a teacher in a secondary school. Unavoidably close contact with hundreds of people every day. My DS travels to and from his school on a Public bus. My dp and I are still seeing each other occasionally, when time allows because I am intelligent enough to know that this will not be over quicker if we stay apart. It will not exponentially increase infection rates over and above what I and my son and millions of others are being told to do and there is more to life, death and existence than Covid. Its called critical thinking.

bobbiester · 23/11/2020 08:45

It's daft. People are gushing over the loveliness of baking a cake together vs the unreasonableness of expecting people to stick to rules designed to prevent the spread of a deadly disease that has killed so many.

Supposedly, the people baking the cake are the lovely ones with a heart who understand the importance of Christmas - and the people avoiding this stuff are the sad bores and killjoys. Not sure at what point being self-disciplined and making huge personal sacrifices to protect the lives of others became so out of line with what is supposedly a Christian festival.

Every social contact increases transmission risk. When you hear about R falling this because there's a huge section of society sticking to the rules driving down transmission rates. Holding us back are loads of people doing pretty much whatever they fancy.
