Or am I missing something?
As with me, my friend lives away from her new DP. They spent the first lockdown together but she travelled home when the new lockdown came into force. She lives about an hour away.
Today, she is posting on FB with her partner, a photo of them both in the kitchen making Christmas cake.
None of them are single households and it was definitely taken today.

I should have said I am in England, rules might exist in other countries, but not here!

🤯

I've never heard of this! I always do mine on or before November 5th as that's what the Granny does in 'My Naughty Little Sister'.

legallybland · 21/11/2020 15:23

I'd shame them on SM for making a Christmas cake so late. Make it in early October then topped up weekly with strong booze or it'll be crap.

Atalune · 21/11/2020 15:25

Ffs. Leave them be.

Snitches get stitches... 😳🤪. That’s a lighthearted comment btw.

No the booze soaked ones. they have been soaking for weeks

devildeepbluesea · 21/11/2020 15:27

@WilsonMilson

One of the many things I hate about covid is what it’s done to people. It’s come to a sorry state of humanity when we are now judging partners being together and making a Christmas cake together.
This. It's made me realise how easy the general public made it for the Stasi and the KGB.
MynephewR · 21/11/2020 15:28

MYOB

Squirrelblanket · 21/11/2020 15:28

Have you considered minding your own business?

Stir Up Sunday is definitely a thing. Comes from the 5th Sunday before Christmas, the last Sunday before Advent that starts, "Stir up our hearts O Lord" as the first line of that week's collect. Both hearts and puddings are stirred!

I put the fruit to soak in sherry last Sunday in preparation for Stir Up Sunday tomorrow.

Yes

This. Just mind your own business. They’re not having a block party for 200 people are they?! You do what you feel comfortable with and let everyone else do the same. Besides, you are judging this based on a photo. You do not know for definite the exact ins and outs of their situation.

draughtycatflap · 21/11/2020 15:46

@HelloMissus

I saw Goody Proctor mixing a bowl of currants.
😂😂😂
Storyoftonight · 21/11/2020 15:48

I can't get over people claiming to be curious and doing this. You are an awful friend. I know this might sound absolutely bonkers but have you tried. .asking her? Shock

MaelyssQ · 21/11/2020 15:56

Stir up Sunday tomorrow!

Stop being such a killjoy. 2020 has been a huge pile of steaming poo for most of us. Why are you ready to destroy a little bit of happiness?

Kljnmw3459 · 21/11/2020 16:02

Who can even keep up with the rules at this point?

Ilovesugar · 21/11/2020 16:04

It’s hard as I would raise an eye brow too as the more we keep breaking the rules the more we can’t actually get a life.

But what if one of them has having a mental break down and really needed the support.

I think people have to be logical but it can’t just be because you miss someone if you break the rules

MrsBrunch · 21/11/2020 16:06

If you're in England they are very simple and easy to understand.
Livelovebehappy · 21/11/2020 16:17

It’s irritating, but tbh there are so many rules being broken that it’s pointless to give it headspace, or you’d be constantly irritated. This is why the vaccine is the only thing that will save us. One thing the covid outbreak has shown us is that huge groups of the population don’t have the ability to follow simple rules.

HumanFemale1 · 21/11/2020 16:19

I see the mumsnet covid police never gets tired Biscuit

Or they are just selfish.
HumanFemale1 · 21/11/2020 16:34

@Mumtumwobble

No OP they shouldn’t be doing this at all. People should be sticking to the rules. It’s selfish people, like this, who think the rules don’t apply to them who are going to continue to spread the virus. None of us want to be in lockdown, but the numbers wouldn’t be so high if people just followed the rules.
Don't be ridiculous, when we get out of lockdown the virus will just start spreading again as we have learned the first time
Dahlietta · 21/11/2020 16:43

Curious my arse.

yeOldeTrout · 21/11/2020 16:46

Aw come off it. If you disapprove of your friend then you'll have to live with your discomfort. Don't pretend to be merely "curious" & "surprised".

Requinblanc · 21/11/2020 16:54

None of your business...

Couldn’t agree more with this. I’ve been so disappointed in how quickly people have turned into pathetic children, eager to tell tales on each other.
