People browsing clothes at M&S

Went into the food hall at M&S today, to enter you have to walk through the main shop to get to the back where the food hall is.

On my way through I was surprised to see people browsing the clothing rails and many people had their hands full of clothes/socks/scarfs etc which I presume they thought they could buy. I didn't notice if anyone was on the till but staff didn't seem to be challenging them at all, I did notice more than a handful of people in the main shop so it wasn't just one or two people being cheeky. Anyone else noticed this?

No lockdown here really, NW London - nothing like last time, no comparison.

having to close my small kids clothing shop while within 15 minutes drive away Tesco and Morrisons can sell kids clothes, a bit further away M&S can do the same . A B&M and Garden Centre can sell these and many other items while i am deemed as non essential and MUST close, probably for ever. While it may be allowed under the rules it certainly doesn't make any sense.
Maybe i should have stocked half the shop with beans and facemasks!

Questionable deletion but OK

Yes it is, you cock

No, it isn’t. PP was clearly talking about who hadn’t made a click and collect order and were there to browse and one in particular who had a run in with member of staff and tried to hop over the barrier. She wasn’t moaning about other members of the public who were also using the click and collect service.
I do think if you want to have a go at someone you should at least make sure you read their post properly, rather than pouncing on them for something they haven’t said.

Very cute. Although I did expect it was going to be pink tbh.

Maybe M&S could do a pink tree next year!

The official guidance we received was that non-essential items (whether from a supermarket or M&S food hall) could continue to be purchased, if they were in the same location. That means, for most stores, that any floors selling solely non-essential goods are closed off, but any floors where essential items are sold remain fully open. So, as long as the clothing wasn't on a different floor, nobody was breaking any rules.

Whether those rules go far enough is an entirely different subject.
