AIBU to want my husband to wear something other than tracksuit bottoms

We are both working from home and since the spring he has lived in tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts every single day for work.

He looks a mess. He's rarely on video calls so it's doesn't matter professionally but it does matter to me as I do have to look at him.

AIBU?

Yabu. Me and dp both live in joggers when we aren't in work clothes or going out anywhere that requires more dressing up. They are comfy, unisex (we have a wardrobe of joggers, hoodies, t-shirts that we both wear.. Laundry is so much easier 😂

DialsMavis · 19/11/2020 20:29

I expect my DH would like me to wear anything other than joggers when wfh but he wouldn't dare say anything. He is lucky when it's joggers, half the time it is sweaty running clothes if I have done a class prework and am going for a run on my lunch break

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 19/11/2020 20:30

I wouldn't mind about the joggers, but mine has a manky old fleece shirt that he wears day after day. It fucking stinks.

Iwantacookie · 19/11/2020 20:33

My dp lives in joggers. He has a disability though which means they are the most practical thing for him to wear. Doesnt bother me at all.

Doglovesbooks · 19/11/2020 20:34

Should he be sat in a suit?

The bulge 🍆😂

Runmybathforme · 19/11/2020 20:34

Well we’re all different aren’t we ? I would hate this, I change as soon as I get home, bath, then PJ bottoms and a vest top. Comfortable, but not slobby. If we’re at home all day, I still wear full make up and a comfortable, vest type dress. DH in casual trousers. I want him to think I look good . Nothing sexy about trackie bottoms. Yuck. I just wouldn’t fancy him like that.

sbhydrogen · 19/11/2020 20:34

Put some bloody trousers on!

nancybotwinbloom · 19/11/2020 20:35

I like a man In a full trackie but it has to fit properly.

Pref a grey one

RedMarauder · 19/11/2020 20:37

Your DH has no reason to dress up. Give him a reason and he will.

Aposterhasnoname · 19/11/2020 20:37

I don’t get this, my DH is currently sporting a Darth Vader onesie, whilst I’m wearing a little giraffe number, complete with tail.

Still gonna shag each other senseless later.Grin

Specialcommunicator · 19/11/2020 20:40

If he looks a mess then YANBU if you're not attracted enough to look at him in that way. Is his personal hygiene problematic too?

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 19/11/2020 20:50

Grin cosplay? Lol

DH doesn't own jiggers, but he bought a hoodie a few years ago and whenever he wears it I tell him looks like he hangs around on street corners selling drugs to kids! He looks really dodgy in a hoodie. He still wears it...

ShrikeAttack · 19/11/2020 21:01

Well, it's entirely up to your DH what he wears, I'm afraid you don't really get a say.

However I'm very pleased that neither I nor DH own jogging bottoms (or pyjamas for that matter), I really wouldn't like to see him in them, it's not for me!

Even 13 year-old DS who does occasionally wear them won't wear them out the house when not doing sports, or even when sitting down for dinner.
He thinks eating in jogging-bottoms is slobbery in the extreme (he did not get this from me, I've never expressed an opinion on the matter to him).

DramaLlama12 · 19/11/2020 21:15

Oh ! This will get you all judgy... I went to the co-op twice this week in my pyjamas , they’re not even fabulous ones that you could get away with either ...and I had no bra on .. I dint care , I’m clean and comfy , coat off afterwards back to indoor comfiness again

Twobrews · 19/11/2020 21:16

Nope, YANBU. I mean DH can wear what he likes but I am eternally grateful he's not a tracksuit bottom or pyjama wearer.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 19/11/2020 23:31

You’re being ridiculous. We’re all stuck at home at the moment - why waste time and effort on ironing your best clothes just to sit on the sofa?

Waveysnail · 19/11/2020 23:34

Smart tracksuit bottoms? Like Canterbury's?

BackforGood · 19/11/2020 23:58

YABVVVVVVVVVVU

  1. I agree with the poster who said it is one of the perks of working from home, that you get to wear your comfy clothes all the time.
  2. As another poster said, can you imagine the replies he'd get if a man posted the same on here about his wife wearing clothes she is comfortable in, whilst at home, where you'd think you'd be able to relax Hmm
Heartofglass12345 · 20/11/2020 12:00

What an awful thing to say!

yelyah22 · 20/11/2020 14:23

We've both lived in joggers and pyjamas for months now, still fancy each other. My OH prefers me when I've got scruffy hair and no makeup - he says it's sexy when I'm comfy, and god if I don't love him for it!

He also looks EXCELLENT in a pair of grey joggers 🍆

TicTacTwo · 20/11/2020 14:30

Does he look a mess because they are stained or isn't he bothering with grooming - shaving, showering etc? Would you prefer him to wfh in his underpants?

Assuming that you're in England, barbers may reopen on 2 December?

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 20/11/2020 14:51

Thankfully DH until very recently has never worn joggers other than when we were younger for rugby training. He bought some when we came out of first lock down because he takes DS to swimming lessons and they now have to arrive 'beach ready' , given it's winter he didn't fancy rocking up in his swimming shorts but joggers go easily over the top and can be removed quickly poolside. Having said that he often bathes DS and puts him to bed while I get started on dinner and is often in pyjama bottoms when he comes back downstairs.
I guess it's not up to you to tell him what to wear, but it's not your fault if you don't find him attractive because he's always a mess

AryaStarkWolf · 20/11/2020 14:52

YABU, he's home, let him be comfortable

Topseyt · 20/11/2020 15:02

Ridiculous. As long as he is clean and comfortable in his own home then he can wear whatever he likes.

DH has lived in tracksuit bottoms, t-shirts and hoodies since starting to work from home in March. I live in jeans and t-shirts.

Why does it matter?

JanQi · 20/11/2020 15:03

Imagine if someone posted on here that their DH had requested they stop wearing comfy clothes in the house.
