AIBU to want my husband to wear something other than tracksuit bottoms

We are both working from home and since the spring he has lived in tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts every single day for work.

He looks a mess. He's rarely on video calls so it's doesn't matter professionally but it does matter to me as I do have to look at him.

AIBU?

Well your not unreasonable to think he could make a bit more effort , but then he is not unreasonable to dress in what ever he chooses in his home. You could try and have a date night or somehting and ask if he would dress up for it. Cook a nice meal and you dress up to.

RandomMess · 19/11/2020 19:54

I loath my DH in joggers, if we leave the house he changes unless we're taking the dog out. Of course we mostly only go out to walk the dog!!!

I know IABU to complain about them but fortunately he humours me!

Namechangeme87 · 19/11/2020 19:57

Depends on the trackies tbh my ex looked fab in them 🍆 😂

Sparklesocks · 19/11/2020 20:00

It’s not something that would bother me I’m afraid, my partner can wear what he likes at home. As long as he’s showered/groomed I’m happy for him to wear what he’s comfy in. If he turned around and said what I should and shouldn’t wear at home I’d go mad, so it goes both ways!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 19/11/2020 20:00

I'm sat here in a hoodie, t-shirt and joggers. We both wear them, get changed into said 'sloppies' as soon as possible after work.

I don't really care what I look like, DH either. We are comfortable in our own home.

Maybe your DH wishes you'd just relax and thinks it's odd that you don't want to be comfortable too!

gamerchick · 19/11/2020 20:03

What would you like him in though? He's not going anywhere, why can't he wear his comfy clothes?

Lazypuppy · 19/11/2020 20:03

I always wear joggers in the house. Whats the point of wearing anything else. Its all about comfort

Prosperus · 19/11/2020 20:04

Yabu! I love my dp in a nice tracksuit, the slim fit tracksuites especially 🤤 Why don’t you gift him some nice sets for Christmas that you think look okay? If he insists on wearing them you might aswell have a little input. I find boohoo man a good website when shopping for guys.

flaviaritt · 19/11/2020 20:04

“He looks a mess.”

Honestly. Be honest. If your DH wrote this about you on a website, what would you say/feel?

Chocoqueen · 19/11/2020 20:04

YABU, he's at home. I've worn joggers to wfh almost every day since March, I'd go mad if DH told me to 'dress up a bit'. He'd work in his dressing gown to wfh everyday if he could (can't hide that on a video call though!)

Meepmeeep · 19/11/2020 20:04

Would you change your clothes if he didn’t like what you were wearing?

DramaLlama12 · 19/11/2020 20:07

Unless I’m going out the front door I literally live in my nightie or pjs , sooooooo comfortable I really hate clothes, I bathe everyday , I’m not dirty I just hate clothes I find them restrictive
Perhaps he feels the same , perhaps he finds ordinary clothes restrictive
I’d leave him be unless his hygiene is suffering

Lou98 · 19/11/2020 20:08

Sorry YABU, as soon as we get home from anywhere I'm straight in to my PJs and my DP into joggers and a comfy T-shirt. Why would you wear something you're not comfortable in when you're at home? I don't understand that and tbh I think you're very harsh saying he looks a mess and you're debating whether to tell him to wear something else - that comes across as very controlling to me. He's a grown man, he's capable of making decisions on what he wants to wear, as equally as you are

ShalomToYouJackie · 19/11/2020 20:11

YABU + unkind. I've lived in joggers for the last few weeks and if my DP wrote something like this about me online I'd be really really upset.

formerbabe · 19/11/2020 20:12

Reverse perhaps?

coffeeforone · 19/11/2020 20:14

I think this is a reverse too!

LockdownLump · 19/11/2020 20:18

Oh god. I cannot bear them obscene grey bottoms that show the bulge. They're gross.

Flappingflamingo · 19/11/2020 20:20

I'm back on furlough, I've been living in my sports bra, trackies and t-shirt everyday since. I would not be impressed if my husband commented on it and believe me, he'd know about it. Yabvu

DramaLlama12 · 19/11/2020 20:22

@LockdownLump

My husband wears joggers in the evenings and smart trousers to work , he bulges he can’t help it , he has big bollocks I don’t like the swinging free look though Blush
ShirleyPhallus · 19/11/2020 20:22

Would you feel comfortable with your OH telling you he’d prefer it if you dressed a different way?

GenevaL · 19/11/2020 20:25

Surely him dressing however he wants is one of the only perks of lockdown?

Autumnblooms · 19/11/2020 20:25

🍆 the bulge 😂😂

My guy is average but he looks ginormous in joggers for some reason!

HotSince63 · 19/11/2020 20:25

I was going to say YABU, I've lived in loungewear and haven't worn makeup or blow dried my hair for two weeks now.

But actually this has prompted me to think I'll make a bit of effort with my appearance tomorrow - my DH hasn't said anything but I think he'd probably appreciate it.

Audreyseyebrows · 19/11/2020 20:27

That’s horrible op.

Some of the comments too! What would happen if someone posted that they like the look of a woman’s boobs swinging around in a top Shock

catchabreak2020 · 19/11/2020 20:28

YABVVVVVU! He can wear whatever he wants and honestly it’s nothing to do with you, wouldn’t even think to comment on what my partner wears, I think it’s weird that you do
