Boris isolating after being contacted by track and trace

BBC news reports that
’Boris Johnson is self-isolating after meeting an MP who later tested positive for Covid-19.’
The prime minister said he was contacted by NHS Test and Trace on Sunday but is not showing symptoms.’

’Mr Johnson on Thursday spent about 35 minutes with Ashfield MP Lee Anderson who has since tested positive.’

Very convenient after last week’s shenanigans.

AIBU to think that there is no way BJ has been ‘contacted by track and trace’ after spending time with an MP.

We’ve been told to turn our APP off at work.
😡

I thought we were in lockdown so supposed to be staying at home and not mixing.

This would be shockingly convenient given PMQs on Wednesday where he’d get asked about the trade deal (or lack of it - he can’t even manage that), the meltdown in his own party over that haunted scream, Cummings, and why the unelected Princess Nut Nuts has so much influence on policy. He’s a mess.

linerforlife · 16/11/2020 05:51

Why do you call it Track and Trace when the service is called NHS Test and Trace? You've even quoted the proper name in your post? Track and Trace is a Royal Mail service for post. I see this all the time on here, it's not hard to get it right!!!

HeronLanyon · 16/11/2020 05:53

I too am afraid I too thought this was extremely convenient timing.
I then thought ‘well when was the last time Boris’s présence anywhere for any reason seemed important or what he said seemed reliable or of substance or showed leadership?’
Then saw photo where they were unmasked and about 4 feet apart and thought ‘what an absolute fool’ (again).
I then did have some compassion and hoped he was ok. That was not my first reaction.

I have so little trust in this government that I did think it's probably bullshit.

Anniegetyourgun · 16/11/2020 05:59

Governments aren't usually non-essential, but there's a fairly widespread feeling that this one is Grin

AppleKatie · 16/11/2020 06:05

I want to know why he wasn’t socially distancing.

I spent 50 minute lessons with kids who test positive on a weekly basis at the moment but I don’t get told to isolate because I stay two metres away and open the window (in the rooms where it opens).

Why wasn’t the PM two metres away?

He says that he followed the rules and was the correct distance away at all times, but that he has been contacted by the app so will comply.
StealthPolarBear · 16/11/2020 06:09

Excellent ponnt

Friendsoftheearth · 16/11/2020 06:20

Many people have to isolate even though they have carefully socially distanced. ANY contact even from a distance of further than 2m with a positive case will flag an isolation period.

In this case I can see many benefits to the PM taking two weeks out. This will give him time to work on the reset, EU issues and Covid exit. Some space to really consider the future in detail has come at a good time for him I think personally.

StealthPolarBear · 16/11/2020 06:23

Well in that case we've all been further than 2m from the guy, should we all be isolating?
Why aren't teachers told the same?

MitziK · 16/11/2020 06:29

Why insist on calling it NHS track and trace when its Serco that's running it?

Skipsurvey · 16/11/2020 06:32

it is boggling that he didnt keep to the face space rules like the rest of us Confused

StealthPolarBear · 16/11/2020 06:33

Commissioned by the government who can presumably stick the NHS label on what they want, plenty of private organisations commissioned publicly elsewhere. Separate issue I realise.
However it is test and trace!

Glossyrocks · 16/11/2020 06:36

If he's going by the app he might have, I had a meeting at work so we sat opposite sides of the room (much more than 2m at a time), and the app pinged to tell me to isolate. I didn't get a phone call even though my details were passed on, so the app said to isolate but test and trace didn't deem it enough of a risk to isolate. Is everyone who gets told to isolate at fault? And no, not a Boris fan.

Uhtredswoman · 16/11/2020 06:39

Does anyone know why his wife is said by the BBC to be "clinically vulnerable", but he said she is "in the shielded group"?

BJ fuck up or BBC fuck up?

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 16/11/2020 06:44

It was originally mooted as Test, Track and Trace. Get a test, track your movements and trace your contacts. The track being the amazing app that kind of fell short and so was quietly dropped. Given the constantly changing information it’s not that surprising people say Track and Trace, given it’s a familiar phrase. (And you know what they mean so does it really matter)

StealthPolarBear · 16/11/2020 06:51

So people are isolating who have been more than 2m apart?!

LondonlovesLola · 16/11/2020 06:52

We call it ‘Track and trace’ at work.
Seems we’re not alone:

I was wondering the same thing. If Boris was indeed following the rules then isolating doesn't make any sense, especially when you consider the situation in schools. Confused
StealthPolarBear · 16/11/2020 06:56

Yes as I pointed out earlier we've all been >2m from someone with covid in the last 24 hours. In fact we are right now!

Glossyrocks · 16/11/2020 06:57

I was definitely more than 2m away and got pinged, i am not sure whether the app is accurate at distance just ancedotally. I didn't isolate as my details were passed to test and trace yet I wasn't contacted, I deleted the app.

LondonlovesLola · 16/11/2020 06:57

SingANewSongChickenTikka

You are correct!
