Boris isolating after being contacted by track and trace

BBC news reports that
’Boris Johnson is self-isolating after meeting an MP who later tested positive for Covid-19.’
The prime minister said he was contacted by NHS Test and Trace on Sunday but is not showing symptoms.’

’Mr Johnson on Thursday spent about 35 minutes with Ashfield MP Lee Anderson who has since tested positive.’

Very convenient after last week’s shenanigans.

AIBU to think that there is no way BJ has been ‘contacted by track and trace’ after spending time with an MP.

We’ve been told to turn our APP off at work.
😡

@hamstersarse the whole point of a vaccine is so that if a large group of people have the vaccine it protects the few that don't/can't.

Redlocks28 · 16/11/2020 09:06

He says that he followed the rules and was the correct distance away at all times, but that he has been contacted by the app so will comply.

Why are many people being told to turn their app off at work, then?!

HerFlowersToLove · 16/11/2020 09:09
@horehound

He’s had it. Are the government actually saying there is no such thing as immunity?
If so, why waste all this Money on a vaccine
Well, the length and level of immunity from having covid is unknown

The money from vaccination research isn't wasted, what a ridiculous thing to say. Bearing in mind research had only being ongoing for months, as yet it's unknown how long immunity will last, but people will of course be able to have boosters.

Calmandmeasured1 · 16/11/2020 09:09

@Uhtredswoman

Does anyone know why his wife is said by the BBC to be "clinically vulnerable", but he said she is "in the shielded group"?
Whose wife?

HerFlowersToLove · 16/11/2020 09:13
@hamstersarse well the only thing is a vaccine is a low level dose of the virus so if people are given the vaccine and then come into contact with it fully, the likelihood is they won't suffer so much/at all.
But the point in self isolating is to not spread it to others who maybe haven't had it
The covid vaccine currently in the news is not a low level dose of the virus.

Glossyrocks · 16/11/2020 09:15

Are the government actually saying there is no such thing as immunity

Yes, many many times they have reiterated that no one knows enough about immunity yet, and even if you have had it before you have to isolate again.

x2boys · 16/11/2020 09:25

He can't do right for doing wrong can he ,if he didn't self isolate and tested positive and passed the virus on to others he would be condemned ,so he's self isolating and he's still being condemned 🙄

Calmandmeasured1 · 16/11/2020 09:26

@Horehound

well the only thing is a vaccine is a low level dose of the virus so if people are given the vaccine and then come into contact with it fully, the likelihood is they won't suffer so much/at all.
That is how most vaccines work but
Pfizer's works differently. It is an mRNA vaccine, which do not directly inject bits of the virus into the body but send genetic material.

mRNA vaccines programme the body to produce parts of the virus itself by injecting the body with a molecule that tells disease-fighting cells what to build. The immune system then learns how to fight it.

Uhtredswoman · 16/11/2020 09:49

@Calmandmeasured1 and @MaskingForIt clearly my fuck up at not reading properly 😂😂

hamstersarse · 16/11/2020 09:55

So the vaccine relies on building immunity

Yet we are simultaneously saying there is no such thing as immunity

I suggest that Boris is making a big deal out of isolating for fear that millions of people will say they don't need to follow the guidelines anymore just because they think they have had it

LondonlovesLola · 16/11/2020 10:37

He can't do right for doing wrong can he ,if he didn't self isolate and tested positive and passed the virus on to others he would be condemned ,so he's self isolating and he's still being condemned

It’s all too convenient. He had the week from hell last week, the shit is about to hit the fan re. Brexit and all of a sudden he is self isolating.
We are told to keep 2 m apart from colleagues. If he has done this as he says he has he has no need to isolate.

@hamstersarse there is plenty online about the research, and scientists have been open about the fact it's more than likely people will need to be vaccinated periodically in order to have immunity, rather than a one off dose like some jabs.

LondonlovesLola · 16/11/2020 10:40

He says that he followed the rules and was the correct distance away at all times, but that he has been contacted by the app so will comply.

Exactly. We are told not to have the app switched in at work ‘under any circumstances’. We are told to keep to the 2 m rule. (Which is impossible btw with 100s of children).

He is still working! He hasn't gone into hibernation!

Too convenient Smile

kateandme · 16/11/2020 13:39

the photos show he wasnt 2m apart.so it clearly is working.hes lying about distance and no masks!
2m lessens the risk as much as possible.but this bloke was positive.this virus can be airborn.or did he touch the same desk or pen or typed up papers etc.so boris would be, if he was human being responsible.

BashfulClam · 16/11/2020 13:43

Yep i’ve just mrr wee motioned this on another list especially as he’s telling people to stick to the rules if called ‘yes, what ho chapd, stick to the rules peasants!’

chomalungma · 16/11/2020 13:54

I wouldn't condemn him if hent self isolated because he was following the guidelines.

fiftiesmum · 16/11/2020 14:12

Doesn't the app ping of you have been within two metres of someone positive for fifteen minutes (or three separate contacts of five minutes) or within 2 - 4 metres of someone for thirty minutes. Could even have a glass or plastic panel between or even a wall as long as blue tooth can get through.
Many people just turn the contract tracing off or delete the app and then reinstall of pinned - no one is the wiser - so Boris just wants to show he is following the rules to prove he is better behaved than dominic Cummins and can now easily pick and choose who he wants to speak to and get out of difficult situations

CremeEggThief · 16/11/2020 14:37

He can't do right for doing wrong, can he.

Exactly. Boris will never win with me, just like Trump. I'd still find a way to criticise him. I won't tell you all what my dad, who doesn't even have to put up with him as a prime minister, said about him a couple of weeks ago.Grin

chomalungma · 16/11/2020 15:15

@x2boys

There does not appear to be a reason for him to 'officially' self isolate under the guidelines for close contact. His spokesperson has said that he followed the guidelines and that Downing Street is a Covid secure workplace.

So I wouldn't condemn him if he didn't self isolate - assuming the above is true.

I would be interested to know why Test and Trace think his circumstances means he should self isolate - given he has followed all the guidance.

MitziK · 16/11/2020 17:02

Any sounds of violin music coming from the upstairs flat where our Glorious Leader is sadly imprisoned and his partner and kid are so unfortunately unable to come and visit?
