Eeek friend's birthday today, and haven't been organised enough to get her something lovely 🥴. What could I buy from a supermarket - wine and chocolate... Aaaaand??

Hat & scarf, fancy face masks, smellies, kitchen equipment - posh mag - the list is bloody endless...

LajesticVantrashell · 12/11/2020 09:27

Get a gift bag/box and create a 'night in' package. Wine, chocolate, face mask, hair mask, dvd, maybe cosy socks if they have them? A candle etc...

Disneyvillain · 12/11/2020 09:28

Flowers too!

peachypetite · 12/11/2020 09:29

Check out the home stuff - photo frames and candles can be surprisingly nice from supermarkets!

contrmary · 12/11/2020 09:32

DVD boxset of ER, Lost, Friends, Tales of the Unexpected or Steptoe & Son, depending on her taste.

Fullofpissandvinegar · 12/11/2020 09:37

What’s your budget? A really nice bottle of champagne? Or a big bunch of lovely flowers. Waitrose had some nice houseplants - and also some nice smellies in their Christmas section.

GameSetMatch · 12/11/2020 09:39

Flowers? Gift voucher? DVD?

MinnieMountain · 12/11/2020 09:41

Gin Gin

Big fluffy blanket? Candle? Reuseable drink bottle if they have a nice one? Asda do a range called #bathhappy and another called bubble up that is very much like lush. Usually 3 for 2, you could get a gift box from the gift wrap aisle and fill it with that kind of thing. There is a less colourful more earthy looming range called Natures Remedy if that would be more there thing.

user68634 · 12/11/2020 09:43

I'd be more inclined to go for a bottle of spirit over wine enough and have that as the main.

Puffalicious · 12/11/2020 09:43

Yup, the list is endless: book, candle, smellies, posh shampoo, make-up, underwear, jammies, cosy throw...

Spied · 12/11/2020 09:44

I'd like a candle, slippers or PJs.

Whatthebloodyell · 12/11/2020 09:49

Afternoon tea stuff? Fancy tea, scones jam and clotted cream?

Chillax stuff? Bubble bath, magazines and fizz?

Brunch stuff? Smoked salmon, muffins, eggs and hollandaise?

None of the supermarkets near me really sell much ‘home stuff’! So I’d be stuck with just getting food wine or toiletries.

StickTheKettleOnAlice · 12/11/2020 09:52

You could check B & M also as they do candles, fluffy waterbottles etc. Ooo also do you have a Costco? They do great gifts, biscuits, fancy chocs etc

SonjaMorgan · 12/11/2020 09:52

It depends on what she would enjoy. I would love PJs, wine, bubble bath and a good book. Our "big" supermarket does gift cards for loads of different chain restaurants.

Flowers

CleverCatty · 12/11/2020 10:03

Which supermarket?

Depends what you'd like to get her for me:-

Sanctuary stuff - see Sainsburys, also Upcircle coffee products (also Sainsburys) are lovely. Dr Paw Paw, Una Brennan face stuff. But she might be fussy re face stuff.

If she lives DVDs/CDs that's a good option. Lindor salted caramel bars are my absolute obsession right now but they do them in those balls too.

Sainsburys do nicer clothes than e.g. Tescos imo, homeware can be lovely be beware as you can have too many candles!

A really nice bottle of her fave tipple always good.

littlefireseverywhere · 12/11/2020 10:03

Friend bought me a lovely scarf / wrap. Warm & light, I’ve worn it everywhere the last few weeks!

Waitrose is excellent imo, don't they do the Monty Bojanles truffles?
BangersAndMush · 12/11/2020 10:05

How big is the supermarket? You could get candles, bath oils, nice soap, plant in a nice pot...

dottiedodah · 12/11/2020 10:07

My friends birthday this week too! Loves chocs and wine .As do I when my birthday. Smellies good also .Sainsburys have some lovely ones .Also depending on your Budget : A nice sweater ,scarf,or some cosy PJS .Flowers /plants (Orchids are nice )Maybe a book ? Lots to choose from I think!

Thewiseoneincognito · 12/11/2020 10:07

A gift card for somewhere else. Honestly, no one wants a supermarket gift sorry.

FrightClub · 12/11/2020 10:08

I would go for a generous handful of something expensive, like five different Tony Chocolonely bars tied up in a ribbon. Still a treat, but not 'save for best' material. Or the most expensive hot chocolate mix they do, or some really good olive oil.

Echobelly · 12/11/2020 10:08

They'll have Christmas presents, so there might be nice gift sets, toiletries, homeware etc right now.

PeteWicksSexyPirate · 12/11/2020 10:09

Wine and cheese board!
