To think Adam Buxton (and his podcast) is pretty great?

I love his podcast, I always save it for when I'm feeling a little down and it never fails to cheer me up or make me feel a little less alone. I love his honesty and the humour. The episodes with his old friends Joe Cornish and/or Louix Theroux are side splittingly funny as are Adam's various songs and jingles. I also really enjoyed his Ramble Book and Bug when it was on. Funnily enough I've never seen an episode of the Adam and Joe show even though I was a student when it was on TV, it passed me by somehow.

Yep, we love it. We used to listen to it on long car journeys but now just at home. We do play a game to bet how long it will take him to mention David Bowie though..Grin

nanbread · 11/11/2020 14:52

YANBUUUUU

plumspice · 11/11/2020 14:52

It never takes him long to get to Bowie or do his Bowie voice, just as well I like Bowie myself! Grin

You can also still get the old 6 Music Adam and Joe show as a podcast, they’re great to revisit.

MiddleClassProblem · 11/11/2020 14:55

I used to listen a lot when I commuted but now have less podcast time so only religiously listen to SMA. I love seeing the other side of Louis Theroux, especially the ep when they were singing.

I think he’s very thoughtful and insightful with his guests and genuinely someone who is interested to hear stories and share conversations with a variety of people so it works very well as a natural flow.

IDontMindMarmite · 11/11/2020 14:57

I can't stand it! I found it contrived, try hard and unfunny. I tried to like it as it was recommended so much. Same with My Dad Wrote A Porno.
Good job we're all different I suppose.

plumspice · 11/11/2020 14:57

@JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx I've only just discovered the 6 Music ones, the Paul Mccartney Tape paralysed me with laughter!

I love him,I also never watched the Adam and Joe Show.
He's such a nice guy, I'd live to sit down and have a cup of tea with him, he's funny, sensitive and clever. He's a great interviewer adapting to his guests.
Oh god, I think I love him.

DilysPrice · 11/11/2020 14:57

I went to see AB doing a video tribute to Bowie at the Empire Leicester Square immediately after his death. Simultaneously hilarious and very heart-felt.

Atalune · 11/11/2020 14:58

I love him.

But the Robbie Williams one was rubbish. The media trained RW just didn’t really engage and was trying so hard to come across as a cold/good bloke. It was so PR polished I thought. One of the very few (Jeff goldblum being the other) pods that I didn’t enjoy.

PizzaForOne · 11/11/2020 14:58

Haven't listened for a good 2.5 years or more now, but still get the Ramble Chat song tune in my head.

Also love the robotic 'My wife' comments.

PizzaForOne · 11/11/2020 15:00

Also I was reminded of Adam and Joe's taken on Brian Cox's space documentaries:

plumspice · 11/11/2020 15:01

@MiddleClassProblem

I totally agree he is very thoughtful and I do find it quite natural as well. I really like how he's honest about not knowing things and his insecurities and issues its very refreshing.

@IDontMindMarmite thats ok not everyone has to like him, I also don't mind marmite, I actually enjoy it quite a bit!

@clarepetal I know how you feel but then he's also pretty honest about how he annoys his wife a lot of the time! I think she's very lucky though!

Love it! The Billy Connolly one is very sweet

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 11/11/2020 15:14

Adam & Joe’s Bobby de Niro song was recently reposted by Joe Cornish on his Instagram.

Back into my head, that lovely little earworm has wriggled.

harriethoyle · 11/11/2020 15:23

I absolutely love Dr Buckles. He's amazing live too. The podcast is my go to on a journey when I've run out of Archers omnibuses! (Omnibi?!)

thereplycamefromanchorage · 11/11/2020 15:24

Thanks for reminding me about Adam Buxton and taking me down a YouTube rabbit hole of Adam and Joe clips. Never watched their TV programme, but they were the best thing ever on 6 music. I recommend the clip with his bouncing dog, will see if I can find it.

Mistymonday · 11/11/2020 15:27

YANBU! I listen to them on my dog walks and in the bath. Best podcaster around imho.

sleepyhead · 11/11/2020 15:28

Get his audio book - it's very good.

I love the jingles and now I've got "I added one more podcast to the giant podcast bin..." going round my head.

nemeton · 11/11/2020 15:29

I used to love the Adam and Joe programme!

LadyR77 · 11/11/2020 15:41

He's bloody brilliant. I still really miss the Adam & Joe show on Radio 6 Music, and adored the TV show too.

plumspice · 11/11/2020 16:20

So pleased to see Buckles getting some well deserved love on here and I'll be checking out all the recommended clips and 6 music podcasts as well. Doctors could prescribe his podcast for these dreary days!

Is anyone else imagining him reading some of these comments out on 8 Out of Cats Does Countdown?

HereComesYourMam · 11/11/2020 17:02

10 Cats! Grrr
