To think Adam Buxton (and his podcast) is pretty great?

I love his podcast, I always save it for when I'm feeling a little down and it never fails to cheer me up or make me feel a little less alone. I love his honesty and the humour. The episodes with his old friends Joe Cornish and/or Louix Theroux are side splittingly funny as are Adam's various songs and jingles. I also really enjoyed his Ramble Book and Bug when it was on. Funnily enough I've never seen an episode of the Adam and Joe show even though I was a student when it was on TV, it passed me by somehow.

I have only recently discovered this. It is great. He is brilliant at ear worm type songs. I found myself singing the intro song to my kids the other day.

The Natasha Demetriou episodes are really funny.

spiceplum · 11/11/2020 17:12

@HereComesYourMam that would be amazing! I bet he does read these, his wife is probably a mumsnetter. Anyway if you are reading Adam, thanks for the podcasts and all the laughs, your a balm for the soul!

@TheWorstShed yeah I love Tash, she is ace and so beautiful!

TheWorstShed · 11/11/2020 17:14

@spiceplum Yes! She completely makes What We Do in the Shadows.

Puppylucky · 11/11/2020 17:19

I really liked the Robbie Williams episode and thought that Robbie came across really well. I loved his stated mission of trying change people's opinion of him as a c**t, one podcast guest spot at a time! His story about finding out on the day that David Bowie died that he had slagged Robbie off in the past and not knowing how to process his simultaneous grief and offendedness at the slagging was really funny. Adam Buxton did a great job of pushing him out of pat answers into something more revealing

bananamonkey · 11/11/2020 17:22

Yes follow Joe on Instagram as he posts a lot of old Adam and Joe show clips, the one of them begging Dermot O’Leary to buy them magazines in a service station had me in hysterics. And the Bobby De Niro Calypso of course.

The old 6 music podcasts are great on long car journeys.

Readysetcake · 11/11/2020 17:26

It’s a great podcast, I haven’t listened for ages so have loads to catch up on. Also just listen to him on the Griefcast podcast talking about losing his mum in lockdown. Very moving.

PolarnOPirate · 11/11/2020 17:29

Love him. He’s very fair and open. Wish he did more episodes! I find it really hard to distinguish between the 3 of them when Adam, Joe and Louis are together on one episode 😄 must be that Westminster inflection.

spiceplum · 11/11/2020 17:29

@TheWorstShed I love that show, I have a huge girl crush on Tash 😍

Indiaplain · 11/11/2020 17:33

Yes I agree - his podcast is just consistently great. He was also on last weeks Griefcast podcast talking about his Mums death this year, really worth a listen.

spiceplum · 11/11/2020 17:35

@puppylucky I haven't listened to that episode yet I'm not a huge RW fan but I'm curious to hear how it goes!

@bananamonkey I don't follow Joe on insta but I will to see these clips.

@Readysetcake I'll have to listen to griefcast, he actually cried on the podcast after his Mum died and he was talking to Joe about her. I can't think of too many guys who wouldn't edit that out but he left it in which I thought was great.

TinkersRucksack · 11/11/2020 17:36

I've had a crush on him for about 20 years swoon

Baggingarea · 11/11/2020 17:40

@plumspice is that you Adam Buxton? Grin

VamosAhora · 11/11/2020 17:54

I love his podcast too, it always cheers me up. He is very humble and insightful. I listened to the Fran Healy one today, the description of their argument at a wedding really made me laugh.

Vthirtyone · 11/11/2020 17:55

Love him! The Tash Demetriou ones have been my faves

Subeccoo · 11/11/2020 18:03

Oh god I love him! I only discovered his podcast in lockdown so am 4 years behind.
I've only slowed down my listening since finding the off menu podcast, side splitting funny, and really interesting.
I lost my mum recently too, I'm gonna look up that grief cast episode.

FrightClub · 11/11/2020 18:10

Love Dr Buckles. I've been a fan since the A&J Show days and sometimes forget I don't actually know him in real life.

Some of the Song Wars music they wrote on the 6 Music Show was genuinely earwormy - Adam's Glastonbury song, Joe's Dr Sexy song, Joe's 1980s Incredible Song, the Quantum of Solace ones...

Jammysod · 11/11/2020 18:11

I love him, but don't enjoy his solo work as much as the Adam & Joe stuff, they're just so funny together! Hoping for another Christmas special... Might finish the Tom Cruise story!

clarepetal · 11/11/2020 18:15

Has anyone heard him and Joe talking about the theme tune to Points of View?

Bloody hilarious.

HaHaVeryBunny · 11/11/2020 18:27

@clarepetal, was that the one were the tune was "biddiy boppty bop" or something like that? If so, l agree it was brilliant, so funny.

BraveBananaBadge · 11/11/2020 18:47

Ah @Jammysod where has this year gone... we could only be weeks away from more of that anecdote!

Love Buckles, his last unexpected chat with Joe was really moving. He recently had Helen Lewis on too, which is encouraging.

Even the ads have had me laughing out loud in the street before 😄

BraveBananaBadge · 11/11/2020 18:49

@FrightClub That particular Bond film will always be ‘The Something of Boris’ to me Grin

nevermorelenore · 11/11/2020 18:53

@Readysetcake

It’s a great podcast, I haven’t listened for ages so have loads to catch up on. Also just listen to him on the Griefcast podcast talking about losing his mum in lockdown. Very moving.
Aww, I don't think I can listen to that. I remember hearing him talk on his podcast about when his dad died. It was very moving and honest. I used to love when his dad was on the Adam and Joe show and used to review 90s music videos in a very grumpy tone.

One of my favourite shows AB did recently was Bug, where he basically took the piss out of YouTube comments for each episode. I'm going to have to go down a rabbit hole of videos now.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 11/11/2020 18:55

Yes. Love the podcast. I listened to the Adam and Joe one all through early labour with my first kid 12 years ago too

MiddleClassProblem · 11/11/2020 19:04

I do think grief cast is a really good listen. That balance of comedy and grief is well done.

Attictroll · 11/11/2020 19:07

I think he's funny but can't listen to him as his slightly fake man/ toddler voice grates on me!
