Making myself ill

Whattheactual2020 · 07/11/2020 11:16

Please can someone help?
I’ve worked myself up into a frenzy these last couple of weeks, worrying about the future and the great reset etc and what’s actually going on. I’m so worried for my daughters future and can’t stop thinking/worrying about it all 😢

BrumBoo · 07/11/2020 15:11

Why don't you just come out and say that you think lockdown is stupid, op? That's whats really going on here, you don't agree with lockdown and you're using the whole reset nonsense as a red herring/goady point.

AyeAyeShipAhoy · 07/11/2020 15:12

@Whattheactual2020 I too would suggest your GP. Only because you are very anxious and don't seem to be coping well at the moment. Like physically health, if your mental health is preventing you living a reasonable quality of life, then a chat with the GP is in order.

"The great reset" is a soundbite, a group of words to grab headlines. I don't find anything worrying by those we elect looking at better ways to do things. It's what they should be doing IMHO. The world is in constant change, nothing should ever stay static, how can progress be made if it did?

I can see though if your mental health isn't strong at present, you could find the thought of change quite unnerving causing a lot of anxiety. It's OK, get some support, and maybe then you can see some positives?

Ori3 · 07/11/2020 15:13

What if the “new world order” is better than this one? The important question is can I still get a takeaway curry from my fave restaurant?

It also might open up new job opportunities of course.

Whattheactual2020 · 07/11/2020 15:15

@Heyahun Well you’d think so, but that’s what I’m reading about, how that would tie in with the great reset etc. They’d basically tart again, cashless society (it keeps looking likely we’re heading towards that as they encourage us not to use cash..a universal wage etc..it’s sounds madness or would have done before, but I don’t know. This coupled with looking at actual facts of deaths and v high survival rate, plus draconian laws being sneaked in..it’s just really worrying me. This time last year none of this would’ve even crossed my mind, I didn’t even watch the news or really worry.

OP posts:
Whattheactual2020 · 07/11/2020 15:16

*Start again

Why are so many people protesting about it, our economy will be ruined, how do they intend for us to recover/survive from it. It’s nonsensical now. It’s like all sense of perspective has been lost.

OP posts:
SchrodingersImmigrant · 07/11/2020 15:18

As someone who used to work on tills, I would greatly appreciate cashless society, especially in a summer and the during cold season🤮

Op, do you think all governments are on it?

Whattheactual2020 · 07/11/2020 15:19

@BrumBoo I’m trying to get my head straight, stay off the post if you have nothing to help. You don’t know me or anything about me, i’m not posting for anything but genuine feelings I have. I’m not sure if I agree with lockdown or not, I’m not sure what to believe anymore. I’ve said why I’ve posted this and once again, thank you to the kindness of many replies on here.

OP posts:
AyeAyeShipAhoy · 07/11/2020 15:19

draconian laws being sneaked in

Laws have to be voted on in the House of Commons and Lords. Are you talking about Lockdown 2.0?

There are lots of people with differing opinions, Talk Radio included. And that's OK OP, people are allowed to voice their opinions. But that is all it is.

Please, go see your GP so you can get a handle on your anxiety. You don't need to live each day in fear like this.

Nedders · 07/11/2020 15:20

OP, I have anxiety and OCD and suffer from intrusive thoughts. I have extreme anxiety regarding the future, especially in regards to the climate. I have episodes of hopelessness, despair and I have considered ending my life because of this.

I have recently started medication after speaking with my GP and it’s probably too soon to say if it’s helping but I cannot go on the way I have been. If it is making you ill I would really recommend seeking help. I did not even know my OCD could manifest in this way until I reached out. It can be hard to rationalise when you have anxiety but I don’t believe any of the things you’ve mentioned are anything much to worry about. This government have not been particularly shy about trying to make life as crap as it can for many, many people but if you want to combat that, get involved in local politics.

There are many things to be positive about though. The future is very uncertain but with a certain orange twat on his way out of the White House, I do believe it can be better than the worst case scenario. I hope this helps, take care

GoldenOmber · 07/11/2020 15:20

If what's causing you this anxiety is talk radio, maybe you should stop listening to talk radio? It's not like talk radio is any kind of source of people who are better informed than you.

Yes there are people 'questioning what is going on' - there are people who question everything! That's fine and right. There are people who don't think there should have been a second England lockdown, there are people who think there should. And there's a whole separate group of people who think there shouldn't be a second lockdown because the government's only doing it to carry out some secret evil plan, which is where it's probably a good idea to walk away.

You seem to be getting stuck on this idea that there is some deep hidden Truth out there that would explain everything, and pulling in ideas like the 'Great Reset' and 5G and other things into it, and that has very little foundation and huge potential to make you ill with worry, so perhaps just put it down and walk away for a bit?

Whattheactual2020 · 07/11/2020 15:21

@SchrodingersImmigrant That’s the thing, that seems highly unlikely I know, but they’re all following such a similar pattern.
Does a cashless society not bother you? It opens up the doors for all kinds of problems doesn’t it?!

No one knows anything about anyone here, its an anonymous forum. Hence we go from whatever you post, and yours are full of conspiracy theory and anti lockdown sentiments. This is AIBU not Be Kind To My Thoughts, and I think you're being unreasonable.

There is no blood brain barrier inside your nose!! ConfusedGrin

Whattheactual2020 · 07/11/2020 15:24

@GoldenOmber No, not 5G etc.

Please can I have opinions on Charles Walkers speech (the pm) why do you think he would say the things he said? He seemed very genuine and heartfelt in his thoughts

OP posts:
GoldenOmber · 07/11/2020 15:24

that seems highly unlikely I know, but they’re all following such a similar pattern.

The simplest explanation for that is that they're all dealing with the same virus, though...

Elbels · 07/11/2020 15:25
  1. Why on earth a conservative government want to bankrupt the country?
  2. Why would they need to do so to 'start again' with a cashless society
  3. Why would a cashless society be a problem?
  4. Have you read anything that counters the information you've found? If you're reading article after similar article no wonder you feel like your views are being reinforced
TheDaydreamBelievers · 07/11/2020 15:25

Okay @Whattheactual2020. I cam hear you are feeling very anxious about the state of the world and how things will change. Firstly, change is always scary for human beings but things are always changing. Some of it will be good and some of it wont be. Like all anxiety, some of it is reasonable (this is a huge scary time with lots changing) and some of it not so reasonable (humanity will adapt and cope just fine, things will adjust like they always have).

It doesn't really matter what you are feeling this way about, there are things you can try for all strong anxiety -

Allocate specific time to read news, social media, watch things etc. This should ideally be a tiny part of time each day. You may have to wean yourself off it if you are spending a lot of time on it. Dont do this before bed.
Practice relaxing deep breathing, mindfulness, yoga or similar every day.
Get outside, every day and notice reality - leaves, people laughing, the taste of a takeout coffee etc
Consider approaching your GP for medication to reduce your anxiety or a referral for talking therapy. Anxiety in itself isnt pathological, but your level of anxiety is interfering with your life and happiness

Well obviously they are following similar pattern. There are only so many ways something can be done. Plus they learn from each other so if x worked in y country, it's logical that z country will try it too.

There is bigger chance of me secretly being Cindy Crawford than all these countries agreeing on something like this (also making the virus together).

No. Cashless society wouldn't really bother me. People are pigs so not touching money feels like heaven. Plus the image of lical drug dealers running around with card terminals tickles me. Vat on coke, they will have nowhere to hide.
Just joking. Kind of.

Whattheactual2020 · 07/11/2020 15:26

@Nedders Thank you, your post made me cry. This whole thing has been difficult to handle, I just worry so much for my daughter. We live in another country away from my family too and I don’t get to see them, just want life to return to normal and to stop feeling scared about it all.

Because he believes that lockdown isn't worth the intrusion to civil liberties it represents. I don't agree with that view, but it's a view he's entitled to have. It's a difficult balance to strike for the government and there's always going to be some people on both sides who feel they got it wrong.

What is it in particular that's worrying you - is it that he calls the government authoritarian?

Can you explain what you think a blood brain barrier is and how putting a sterile swab up your nose can damage thus?
Have you never picked your own nose/ had a nose bleed or broken your nose ( ok not every one has broken theirs but lots have and are not controlled by the gov )[/quote]
My mum had two mammoth nosebleeds last year and had to have both nostrils plugged.

I'd like to think that would explain why she thinks Nigel Farage is a nice man and Donald Trump is misunderstood but sadly I doubt it.

@Elbels Yes I definitely need to get off sm, I’ve been staying up reading this most nights the last couple of weeks. It’s like I’m aware it’s not helping my mood but I can’t stop it 😢

@TheDaydreamBelievers Thank you for your kind words, it’s making me feel better to see I have got the wrong side of things if so many say it’s nonsense. My head is so full of it all at the moment.

The 4th industrial revolution or industry 4.0 is to do with digitisation of processes nothing scary Confused i.e installing digital systems in businesses like ERP systems

The best way I've found to get out of those doomscrolling loops is to put some simple but addictive game on your phone and play that instead. Recommend 2048 and I Love Hue (colour matching game)
