@SakiSiam

Love to you. There's more that joins us, than divides us.

Amen!

Songsofexperience · 07/11/2020 20:15

It's such a relief! Not being American myself, I didn't expect to feel so intensely emotional.
In the words of an American friend of mine a minute ago: it just feels like we can breathe again for the first time in four years.

I am so relieved.
I also want the appreciation for Giuliani’s possibly drunken random presser in a Landscaping yard, alleging Will Smiths late father of voting fraud.

You couldn’t make it up.

Re: if a Biden victory would be worse for the U.K. wrt a trade deal I don't think we should be fooled that Trump would have been more likely inclined to do a better deal than Biden.

What we all know is Trump has proved consistently is that he will always do what's best for for himself.

In other words if he felt he could score political points at home and gain business personal advantage by shafting Boris then I think it's fair to say he'd have no issue doing that.

Biden on the other hand would obviously put American interests first but would also also I believe be likely to consider that keeping the U.K. onside politically had significant weight alongside the potential economic advantages.

@boatyardblues

Bitch has packed her bags, checked out and is back in the arms of you know who lol!

I’m not as up on the ins & outs of Melania’s private life. What’s the story there, Across?

No idea there, @boatyardblues I wasn't aware that there were rumors about her having a cicisbeo.

What's the story @shamalidacdak ?

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/11/2020 20:21

Across you must join us on the Westminsterenders thread at our next election.

All the candidates for each seat line up on stages in each constituency and we get to see their faces as the results are called out.

Here's a famous one from a few years back where a very senior Conservative politician, who was strongly tipped to be the next party leader, was ousted by a first time runner for the Labour party

SophieB100 · 07/11/2020 20:21

@longwayoff

Thank you America. Wish you all a brighter future.
This
Zixxy · 07/11/2020 20:22

Yeah, now that we can speak without fear, who is Melania's squeeze?

Not surprising, but she has been very discreet, apart from her obvious disdain for her current lawful husband. lol.

ProfessorLayton1 · 07/11/2020 20:24

Delurking to congratulate Americans on this thread. Thank you all for educating about the nuances of American electoral system - you have all been brilliant.
I have friends and family in US and they are all so relieved. Happy happy day!
Yay.. there is a women of colour as VP! Should not forget to celebrate that as well💐

Just been browsing Reddit and I noticed the Trump subreddit has all of a sudden been set to private. Sore losers don't want anyone telling them they've lost!! Grin

boatyardblues · 07/11/2020 20:28

Sorry Across - I was speed reading & thought it was you who had posted it.

TheABC · 07/11/2020 20:28

I am just so relieved that Trump is out.

All Biden has to do is continue as he is. I don't have great expectations for his Presidency, beyond civility, decency and trust coming back into fashion.

I also don't expect it to have much impact on the UK, although (hopefully) it will make our woeful excuse of a PM think twice about tearing up the Good Friday Agreement.

Congratulations to everyone in the USA!

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/11/2020 20:29

Hank Siemers is head of security at Tiffany jewellers in Trump Tower.

Many rumours that he and Melania were/are having an affair and that's why she stayed in NY for so long.

boatyardblues · 07/11/2020 20:30

Well said.

The Biden Presidency will be about being polite, decent and Statesman like. It will hopefully build some bridges and show America in a better light both at home and around the World now.

2024 is where the Dems are focusing on. God knows who the Reps will put forward. Time will tell, but hopefully the Trumps are toxic now and that era will end forever. But you never can tell can you?

That was the subreddit called TheDonald. The one I saw a few days ago was very much active, it's just called Trump. Now their moderators have deliberately set it to private, presumably to stop the victory parade from marching through it!

Wherrsmaclickypen · 07/11/2020 20:37

Sweet jesus, I was sobbing like a baby at Van Jones on CNN and am beyond relief which is odd as it has fuck all to do with me in rural scotland Watching the coverage I belatedly realise that EVERYONE is still on tippytoes around this madman and his extraordinary behaviour - nothing should surprise us.

I hope a moderate Republican tasers him off his own podium and restores faith in moderate differences of opinion.

Having said that, a press conference in a landscaping parking lot???? WTF.

I’ll think we will need it before long so before the GinWine takes over...

I still just don't get what the hell that location was all about
Various theories including Trump assuming the Four Seasons Hotel would host them and announcing it on Twitter, then getting rejected so having to find another, any other, Four Seasons as a venue.
God only knows.
It certainly provided an interesting backdrop for the result!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/11/2020 20:41

Thanks! I was starting to worry.
