Tucker Carlson is reframing the trumpers as liberals? He’s deranged.

thanks! I did wonder if I was slightly delirious...

BruceAndNosh · 07/11/2020 09:34

Tucker would be worse than Trump. Same extreme rabid frothing but with added coherence and proper grown up vocabulary

pontypridd · 07/11/2020 09:37

I think the delay is purposeful.

Is it because they’re afraid of what Trump will do when he finds out for certain he is no longer president anymore?

He will after all still be in a position of power for a month or two? Is that right?

He could do anything in that time. It’s scary.

MayYouLiveInInterestingTimes · 07/11/2020 09:37

I don’t know if anyone else has put this up, or if the link works, but it really does say it all. I’m not a football fan, too many links to tribalism and violence. Politics could really learn from them at the moment.

@Lweji

Biden needs an Ainsley Hayes in his White House

That's the one I was thinking of. Grin

But for Biden, I'd go more senior. No desks in basements.

How about the episode in Season 5 when Glenn Close plays Chief Justice and becomes the SCOTUS nominee despite the ideological differences between her and ruling party?

“Pray that there’s intelligent life somewhere up in space because there’s bugger all down here on earth.” Monty Python team, (for the deprived who can’t quote them word for word already).Smile

Lweji · 07/11/2020 09:43

As far as I can tell, the delays are mostly due to postal voting.
It requires many more checks, particularly to ensure there is no fraud (like the person having already voted in person).
Once they have all the ballots verified it will be quicker.
In some places they could only start processing postal votes after the polls closed. In other places they are still waiting for votes posted on the 3rd to arrive.

And the local authorities will only announce when it's all counted.
We can relax when the margin is greater than the uncounted votes.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 07/11/2020 09:44

@cantdothisnow1 - this is link to Trump's speech, I watched with sound off and closed captions for obvious reasons.

Ooh.
I don't remember that one. It looks like I need to re-watch the series. Star I wouldn't dare under Trump. Too painful.

HOW IS IT NOT DONE YET!

Pomegranatespompom · 07/11/2020 09:47

Too early for a drink ?

CaveMum · 07/11/2020 09:47

@lionheart The Supremes is my favourite episode!

I have been wondering if Biden might do something similar to what happened in the episode and convince one of the elder Justice’s (I’m thinking of Stephen Breyer who is 82) to retire so that they can bring in a younger candidate.

Roussette · 07/11/2020 09:48

Just had a quick peek at Fox news to see how they are spinning this. Shocking.
Anchor just said that 'Trump won on election night, he has won, and everyone is going to work to return him to the WH'
Shock

There would've been a moment in time when either of them could've been in the lead. That doesn't mean to say you stop the counting

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 07/11/2020 09:49

About the delays, Amy Siskind tweeted this yesterday:
"Those @'ing me on why PA, NV, AZ have not been called: I have no idea what TF they are doing. Trump has traumatized our country after 4 years of him, and it is apparent everywhere you look. Will take us decades to repair."
And after Biden's speech, she tweeted:
"Biden's speech reminded me - I don't think we will realize how traumatized the country is from the past four years for months, if not years. Trump has harmed our national psyche is ways we can't even imagine sitting here today."
It makes me wonder if the reluctance to declare this election, when in normal times it would have all been done and dusted by now, is simply because of the knowledge that the result has to be completely unchallengeable legally so that Trump clearly has no leg to stand on?

SabrinaThwaite · 07/11/2020 09:50

Biden now with a 28,833 lead. I think he needs to hit just over 34,000 to avoid the automatic recount (based on votes counted so far and the currently reported 83,589 outstanding).

But then the count also has to get to the point where Trump can’t catch Biden’s lead.

So does Biden need to get to the point where Trump can’t get close enough to him to hit that 0.5% margin for the automatic recount before anyone calls it?

Complicated.

SabrinaThwaite · 07/11/2020 09:51

My thoughts exactly, @Lweji, it's been sitting there waiting for me to watch it again for 4 years and now I can't find it on Netflix anymore!

@Lweji do watch it. It’s in Season 5 and called “The Supremes”, it’s a divine episode, Glenn Close is brilliant and it has some cracking lines: “I love her. I love her mind. I love her shoes.”
CaveMum · 07/11/2020 09:52

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom it’s moved to All4. It switched about 2 weeks ago.
