US Elections - Trump or Biden, who will win?

JustSaying101 · 03/11/2020 19:55

Intrigued to see who everyone thinks will win the current US presidential elections? I wouldn't personally vote for Trump, but I think he will manage to win another term. What do you think?

YABU = Trump will win
YANBU = Biden will win

Hoping there is some kind of conclusion to this by today! 🙏 According to this current MN vote, we have Biden to win at 57% and Trump to win at 43% Although with all the pending lawsuits, I reckon this is going to play out for some time. If Biden wins, I'm not sure Trump is going to accept that he's been fired for some time 😬

I predict that Biden will win and Mike Pence will be the shortest serving president, or second shortest serving president, when he steps in for Trump during the transition. Trump has lost it in terms of his behaviour and behaved appallingly.

x2boys · 06/11/2020 10:00

Yep he's behaving like a toddler who doesn't get his own way 🙄can his supporters really not see the hypocrisy in wanting the count stopped in states where he is losing ,but wanting it to continue in states where he is in the lead?

Mittens030869 · 06/11/2020 10:02

I think Trump is going to end up losing a lot of support as a result of his behaviour the last couple of days. Americans are very proud of their democratic system.

wowfudge · 06/11/2020 10:07

The people in charge of elections at a state and local level in the US are very highly qualified professionals. He has slurred their integrity publicly and is a disgrace.

If you stop the count, he still hasn't won.

Oh, yes - AP showing Biden lead in PA!

CitizenClem · 06/11/2020 15:34

I'm just coming back to claim my prize!

I was the first to say it would be Biden, and now we know it is! Thank God.

Kljnmw3459 · 06/11/2020 16:50

I put all my money on Trump getting second term. Another great financial decision by moi...

Ladbrokes are offering 10:1 on Trump - could be enough to pay for a recount!
titchy · 06/11/2020 16:56

Tell a lie, just drifted to 12:1

SheepandCow · 06/11/2020 17:12

I still think the US bald eagle would make the best president. A wise and handsome bird.

You did indeed! We're still awaiting that 'official' news that Biden has won, but it's definitely looking like a done deal. Although I still think Trump won't leave the White House even if Biden is declared winner, after all the inevitable lawsuits and vote recounts...🤦‍♀️

Can't Trump automatically get a recount as results are so close?

JustSaying101 · 06/11/2020 17:57

@DrManhattan Depends what the difference in votes is I would've thought. Not sure if they would recount if the difference is, say, 20,000 votes etc, as that seems a fairly wide margin. Maybe if it were in the hundreds - say if it were between 500 votes, etc.

Honestly we are not there yet, we are nowhere close I am sorry to say. The courts will decide unless Trump surprises us all by conceding. I can not imagine he will with such tight margins.

We are months too early to call anything I am afraid. Feeling for the US. The next chapter of this election is likely to be even worse than the first.

Viviennemary · 06/11/2020 18:27

There does seem a wide margin for fraud and error though. I heard ballot pspers got stuck in thd counting machine. And calling a result before all the votes are counted sounds very wrong. Arizona declared a couple of days ago and now undeclared. Sorry but I think the system needs to be improved. And has everyone forgotten when Gordon Brown refused to go.

wowfudge · 06/11/2020 19:34

@Viviennemary - no, some sections of the media declared the Arizona vote had gone to Biden. They update as they go along to show the progress. As for hearing about ballot papers that stuck in a counting machine, where did you hear that? There's a stack of fake news about the counts out there. Some of the main fake stories are debunked on the BBC News website.

@Ihaveyourback - yesterday you said Trump was on his way to Nevada to declare his victory. What you stated was untrue so I've no reason to think you have any kind of insight.

It depends on the state and the percentage margin between the candidates. It's set out in state law.

Viviennemary · 06/11/2020 19:40

It was a main stream channel can't remember which one. They were talking about a flood at one of the counting stations. But apparently thst didn't affect any ballot papers. And then somebody mentioned the ballot papers getting stuck in the machine.

wowfudge · 06/11/2020 19:46

The flood thing was referred to by Trump in his ramblings last night and he had the facts wrong, I wonder if the thing about stuck ballot papers was part of the same thing?

fridascruffs · 06/11/2020 19:51

Wow short memory VivienneMary, or maybe you werent paying attention at the time, Gordon Brown didn't 'reguse to go's it was a hung parliament and Nick Clegg asked ans ultimately begged GB to stay on till NC had wrung more concessions out of the Tories. Eventually Gordon Brown insisted he couldnt wait any longer and he stepped down.
Facts are a bugger, aren't they.

Whitecottoncandy · 06/11/2020 20:59

It’s a wild ride with you @Ihaveyourback yesterday ‘Georgia is just about to be announced for Trump’ and there was no need to wait for official news.

Today you’re saying everyone has to wait and see until court cases are concluded. 😂😂😂😂😂

@Viviennemary interesting how both you and @ihaveyourback have ‘heard’ stories about voter fraud etc but when asked where ‘can’t remember’

Do you mean this? It delayed counting.

Apparently Michigan has flipped back to Trump after a software glitch was spotted?

(It's on Twitter, so it may not be true.)
