To not shower before bed

If not unusually sweaty? (And you’ve washed that day) like .. in winter.

I always do (as well as in the morning) as I’ll probably be having sex and it’s minging not to wash before sex after sweating all day! As does DH.

I also love the feeling of getting into bed clean, fresh and moisturised.

afaloren · 29/10/2020 10:48

I usually shower in the morning and have a bath before bed. In the Summer though I have a cool shower before bed instead of a bath.

Angelina82 · 29/10/2020 10:50

Nobody needs more than one shower a day. So bad for the skin and the environment.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 29/10/2020 10:51

I always shower in the morning. Only in the evening if I'm particularly sweaty or need to wash my hair. I feel grubby if I don't shower in the morning

DappledThings · 29/10/2020 10:52

@Marchitectmummy

Its your choice how to live, personally I always shower before bed, then my hair can dry naturally and I can have a quick shower in the morning and out the door.
I use similar logic but the other way round. My hair takes 3 hours to dry naturally. A shower in the morning allows for that to happen becuase I have no hang ups about being seen in public with wet hair.

A shower at night would mean going to bed with wet hair and waking up with it and my pillow still damp.

Graciebobcat · 29/10/2020 10:52

YANBU. I only shower about every other day at the moment anyway.

MrsCremuel · 29/10/2020 10:55

Only if I need a relaxing bath or have got mucky/sweaty in the day. 2 showers seems wasteful otherwise

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/10/2020 10:58

I shower in the evening, but not in a morning. Can't be arsed. But I like to be all clean and moisturised in the evening. My DH is opposite. Where I grew up most people wash in the evening rather than morning. We start our day hour early compared to here, so maybe that's why.

movingonup20 · 29/10/2020 10:58

I've never showered before bed.

It's getting ridiculous, think of the water consumption. People used to bath once a week with just a wash in between, showering daily is more than enough. Obviously if you have been to the gym etc you need to shower after that but assuming normal semi sedentary life once a day is fine

movingonup20 · 29/10/2020 11:00

@Macaroni46

Join the club, it's also been two weeks since I vacuumed but I have at least done the washing so I didn't have to recycle clothes from the basket

saraclara · 29/10/2020 11:02

Baths are night-time things. Showers are morning things.

I certainly don't feel I have to get myself clean for bedtime though. Apart from anything else, a shower is invigorating so I'd find it hard to sleep afterwards.

Onxob · 29/10/2020 11:14

I'm always amazed on mumsnet by how many adults have daily baths. Seems such a waste of time! All that hanging around for it to fill up too. I don't know anyone IRL who does this. Baths are something you save for a quiet Saturday night in when you have time to lounge about in it. Such a waste of water too. I don't get it?

I shower and wash my hair most days but I've often skipped a day if just lounging about at home or use dry shampoo. This is the standard for most people I know well, although most don't seem to wash their hair as much as I do. Mine is very fine and gets greasy if not washed daily. Everyones body is different. Some people sweat much, much more than others too. I like the fresh feeling of a daily shower but I honestly do not smell at all on the second day and could technically go without. The only time I've ever smelt BO from myself is when I was in hospital after serious emergency surgery and was lying in my own filth for days, having been sweating with fever etc. other than that time I've never smelt BO.

kerrymucklowe2020 · 29/10/2020 11:20

@Ifailed

I shower once a year, whether I need it or not.
😂
Mabelface · 29/10/2020 11:31

I shower or bathe 2-3 times a week. Any more and I'm itchy! I don't smell and don't sweat much due to some medication I'm on.

Toothsil · 29/10/2020 11:33

I used to always shower or have a bath before bed, and then in the morning wash my hair over the bath. But recently I've started just going to bed without showering because it gets me into bed quicker 😂 and then I shower in the morning. I don't enjoy the process of showering in the morning though, it always feels like such a hassle when I want to get on with my day. I do like to feel clean though!

LittleTiger007 · 29/10/2020 11:34

Most adults shower in the morning every morning and small children have a bath at night. Sometimes I have a bath at night but that’s more about relaxing with a book and a glass of wine!
However... if there’s sex on the cards a quick wash of certain parts is always polite.

steppemum · 29/10/2020 11:36

at various stages in life I have
EITHER
had a bath i evening before bed
OR
had a shower in morning before work.

Only time I did both was when I was post partum, and the bath/shower was the only thing that helped with my stitches

chipsandpeas · 29/10/2020 11:37

i only shower at night after exercising or on my period

EverydayDrudge · 29/10/2020 11:40

I shower every morning noon and night, and obviously get up in the middle of the night too for a freshen up Grin

WonderMoon · 29/10/2020 11:42

Night time. Feels nice going to bed all clean and fresh.

cardibach · 29/10/2020 11:42

I always used to shower in the morning every day. I’m a teacher and school feels a bit...germy...at the moment so I’ve taken to showering when I get in from work instead. Quick wash in the morning.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/10/2020 11:42

Amateur. I sleep in a shower
PattyPan · 29/10/2020 11:53

Unless I’ve been exercising (in which case I shower straight after), I shower at whatever time of day happens to be most convenient, so sometimes morning sometimes evening. If I have a bath it’s only in the evening though, having a bath in the daytime just seems wrong. I’ll probably be cast off MN though because I don’t shower every day - my skin is really dry and I can literally feel it shrivelling up after a shower so I try to stretch it to every couple of days if I’m not sweaty. I wash my face every day but only with water.

Rezrex · 29/10/2020 11:55

Depending on the day, might shower in the Morning, at night, lunch (thanks to wfh) or not shower at all. Depends on what happening that day. I don't think there are rules.

Marchitectmummy · 29/10/2020 11:59

@DappledThings

I probably sound even odder now but we put our kids to bed, shower then pretty much go to bed with our girls and read or chat in bed so hair dries then....we have 5 daughters to sort out between us in the morning, the first one is generally awake from 6 so a quick shower to clean off overnight dirt is about all I have time for!
