If not unusually sweaty? (And you’ve washed that day) like .. in winter.

I always shower before bed as it means I don't put the days grime onto the bed clothes and they don't need washing so often! If I go to the gym at 5am I will shower after that as well. However if I go out for a bike ride and shower about 2pm I wouldn't shower again before bed unless I felt particularly sweaty/dirty/grimy.

peboh · 29/10/2020 09:14

I've always showered in a evening, I can't stand getting into bed feeling grimy. I also have hair that takes about 2 hours to sort out so I'd have to wake up at about 4 am to shower and get ready and I'm not about that life.

Crystal87 · 29/10/2020 09:16

I have a bath at night and a quicker bath or shower in the morning. The morning one I think is essential, the evening one is for comfort and freshening up, unless I'm hot and sweaty. It's personal choice though.

Charlottejade89 · 29/10/2020 09:39

I always have a shower or bath at night. And jpt every day either, probably 4 or 5 nights a week. Im at home with 2 year old and pregnant with my second so doesnt feel as relaxing having a shower when your being watched lol. and having it at night for me is a nice way to unwind after a long, sometimes tedious day

LonelyFromCorona · 29/10/2020 09:46

Have always showered or bathed in the morn, then you're fresh and knowing you smell fine ready for a whole day at school/work/whatever. Don't see the point doing so before bed unless I've been really sweaty or dirty in the day, as you end up laying in a bed and getting a bit sweaty or whatever by the next morning.

Allergictoironing · 29/10/2020 09:53

It was suggested to me many years ago that originally the split between morning & evening showers depended on occupation. In general, blue collar workers showered/bathed in the evenings to get rid of the sweat and grime of their grubbier jobs, whereas white collar workers showered before work to be fresh for the office & not get anything on their clean clothing.

Wheresthepostie · 29/10/2020 09:59

I just couldn't get into my lovely clean bed without a shower. Bringing all the sweat and pollution into the bed?! Just NO. Envy

Marchitectmummy · 29/10/2020 09:59

Its your choice how to live, personally I always shower before bed, then my hair can dry naturally and I can have a quick shower in the morning and out the door.

DimplesToadfoot · 29/10/2020 10:02

My dog sleeps in my bed, right in it, under the quilt, it doesn't bother me, I have no one to impress and she makes a great hot water bottle, so I don't see any point in showering before bed unless I feel particularly manky, I shower in the morning and change my sheets more often, to me its no big deal and I don't give 2 hoots what anyone else thinks :-)

MedusasBadHairDay · 29/10/2020 10:06

I prefer a morning shower, I don't like using a hairdryer on my hair if I can help it, and I hate going to bed with wet hair. So morning showers make more sense for me.

Though in the Summer I'll do both rather than sleep with a layer of suncream on my skin.

dixiedo · 29/10/2020 10:07

Shower / bathe before bed every night. Only exception really is if i'm late in - dinner etc in which case I would have showered just before.
If working from home/running errands or milling about I will not shower again in the morning but if i'm going out for the day or dressing nicely I will.
I wouldn't like to get into bed with the days "dirt" and sleep in it.

flaviaritt · 29/10/2020 10:08

I have a bath or a shower whenever I feel the need. Sometimes morning, sometimes evening. Usually daily, not always.

dixiedo · 29/10/2020 10:09

However, I do not wash my hair every time I wash. If I did I wouldn't be as happy about the evening.

IceniWarrior · 29/10/2020 10:10

Be interesting to hear from non British people and how often they shower as apparently we are considered dirty!

yelyah22 · 29/10/2020 10:10

I don't hard and fast shower/bath every day! Yesterday for example I was WFH all day and not going anywhere, so I didn't - it makes my skin really dry if I do.

But usually I'll have a bath (or more rarely a shower) in the evening so my bed stays clean and nice and it saves me time in the morning - in summer it's a cool shower before bed and then another in the morning :)

YANBU not to shower before bed though, I don't think it's a necessity - I just prefer it.

dementedpixie · 29/10/2020 10:11

I shower every morning. If I exercise i shower again. I dont shower in the evening if its not necessary

GaraMedouar · 29/10/2020 10:12

I never shower before bed, sometimes a nice relaxing bath. Now I’m wfh I love having a midday bath - for my lunch hour break - kids at school and I switch off for half an hour and have a soak and listen to the radio.

HeronLanyon · 29/10/2020 10:13

I bathe every morning.
I don’t live with my dp. If dp is staying then I am likely sometimes to have a shower before a night of wild sex together. Wink

Wannabegreenfingers · 29/10/2020 10:15

Only if I'm sweaty otherwise I'm a morning person. I don't feel properly awake without a shower.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 29/10/2020 10:16

I shower on the hour, every hour.

Anything less is minging.

Nottherealslimshady · 29/10/2020 10:27

I dont even shower every day. I dont know how anyones skin survives two showers a day.

dementedpixie · 29/10/2020 10:36

I couldn't not shower. I smell bad enough in the morning even after 1 or 2 showers

CounsellorTroi · 29/10/2020 10:38

Shower in the morning, never in the evening unless I have exercised.

Deelish75 · 29/10/2020 10:40

I shower of an evening, I have thick hair that takes ages to blow dry and looks awful if left to dry naturally so prefer to do it of an evening.
I find it easier to wash my make off in the shower and like getting into bed feeling clean. In summer I do have a quick shower in the mornings if it’s been a hot night.

aLilNonnyMouse · 29/10/2020 10:40

I shower every third day. I rarely sweat and my hair/skin doesn't get greasy for about 5 days so I can get away with it. I have eczema and daily showers make it flair up like crazy.

Do what ever makes you feel comfortable as long as you don't stink around other people.
