AIBU to think that if there was an election tomorrow most people would still vote for a Tory Government.

OP posts:
Coriandersucks · 24/10/2020 20:45

Why would you think that?

LadyCatStark · 24/10/2020 21:16

I would vote the same but that’s because I didn’t vote for the Conservatives last time...

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 24/10/2020 21:18

Same .

My Tory voting family would also vote the same. :(

BangBux · 24/10/2020 21:20

I voted independent but I've moved constituencies since then. I think we'd still have a Tory majority if we held another election tbh - there's no viable alternative at the moment.

Whammyyammy · 24/10/2020 21:26

If still vote Conservative

flaviaritt · 24/10/2020 21:28

I think lots of people vote on what they perceive to be a match between their values and the MP’s, rather than actual performance in government. Lots of people never even consider changing their votes.

Clareflairmare · 24/10/2020 21:30

I think you’re right but I hope you’re wrong. I was in total shock when they won the last election. I hardly knew anyone who would consider voting for them after the mess they made of Brexit. So I can’t imagine it, but I think I’m probably wrong and you are right.

IHateCoronavirus · 24/10/2020 21:33

I really struggled to vote last time, no matter which party I thought about going for, there was something significant about their manifesto which didn’t sit well with me. If I could vote again tomorrow, no doubt I would feel the same again!

timehealsmost · 24/10/2020 21:37

I didn't vote tory last time.,but since then I have realised there is just no alternative

whatswithtodaytoday · 24/10/2020 21:39

I'm hoping Labour look like a better prospect now. I would vote the same - for Labour.

LagunaBubbles · 24/10/2020 21:39

Not here in Scotland they wouldn't!

Crankley · 24/10/2020 22:29

I'm a Tory voter and will vote for them next time. The alternatives are risible.

MagnoliaXYZ · 24/10/2020 22:32

@flaviaritt, I've lived in the same constituency all my life and I've voted for all three major parties (I'm only 34 so there hasn't even been that many general elections).

If there were another general election tomorrow, yes, I would vote the same as I did at the last general election.

Coasterfan · 24/10/2020 23:04

I would vote the same as I would sooner burn in hell than EVER vote Tory.

quitecontrary123 · 24/10/2020 23:15

I would vote Labour again. I could never vote Tory.

RaspberryHartleys · 24/10/2020 23:18

No deal Brexit, highest death toll in Europe (and 4th in the world) and biggest economic hit in Europe due to the pandemic. No, I would not vote Tory if we had a GE tomorrow

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/10/2020 23:18

I wouldn’t vote tory

But im fairly sure that a fair few people would

(Neither would my usually tory voting husband)

RaspberryHartleys · 24/10/2020 23:19

Oh, also forgot the debarcle of not supporting free school meals for the poorest kids in society too.

Not really sure what theyve done since Dec that would make people think they should vote for them tbh? Confused

BudgieHammockBananaSmuggler · 24/10/2020 23:24

I realise it’s just a game of opinions @Crankley, but do you not think the Tories are completely risible too? It’s a weak argument to say the opposite are poor when the current incumbents could barely be doing worse.

IsurvivedbutdidI · 24/10/2020 23:25

The school meals issue has been the nail in the coffin for me. My votes always swung around but I have been really put off voting conservative ever again....

Thedogscollar · 24/10/2020 23:25

Going on how they have handled Covid and Brexit so far I can't see why anyone could vote for the Tories.

Newsorrynewagain · 24/10/2020 23:27

Never voted Tory in the first place so nope never in a month of Sundays would I vote for the shit show that is the current Tory government

Ginfordinner · 24/10/2020 23:27

@LadyCatStark

I would vote the same but that’s because I didn’t vote for the Conservatives last time...
Same here
Bookriddle · 24/10/2020 23:30

I certainly wouldnt vote tory, my local mp was one the many tory mps that voted down the free school meals, and for that 1 reason i would nwver vote

PardonMyFrancais · 24/10/2020 23:45

I would never vote Tory, I can’t believe anyone would after the shit show in recent years.

Abhorrent party with abhorrent “morals”.

I admit we need a much better opposition though.
