AIBU to think that if there was an election tomorrow most people would still vote for a Tory Government.

OP posts:
AGoatAteIt · 25/10/2020 06:24

I’d vote the same way I did last year. But then again I didn’t vote Tory and never have.

I’m sure plenty would still vote Tory however which is depressing. I truly hope they are wiped out in 4 years time or whenever we have another GE after the devastation they have caused.

Redwolf1 · 25/10/2020 06:25

I believed that we needed a conservative government to get us out of the mess we were in, covid has made their job 10 times harder. I'd vote conservative again but can see labour has better leadership now and would consider voting for them in the future

Toontown · 25/10/2020 06:41

@redwood1 you realise the Tory's have been in power for 10 years. I'm in my early 40s and in my lifetime they have been in power 30 years and labour 13 years. How much more fucking time do they need?!

middleager · 25/10/2020 06:49

I did not and will not vote for them.
However, I think many still would judging by some depressing posts on FB.

However, I am politically homeless due to the fact no party supports women.

Elai1978 · 25/10/2020 07:05

I could never, ever vote Labour so yes, Tory again!

ChazP · 25/10/2020 07:21

@Elai1978

I could never, ever vote Labour so yes, Tory again!
12 billion on a failed track and trace system 120 million on PPE masks that couldn’t be used 20 million to a ferry company with no boats 7,000 per day for consultancy fees 60,000 missing covid positive contacts because millions was spent using old Excel spreadsheets. Refusal to fund free meals for most impoverished children in England Can’t negotiate “oven ready” Brexit deal At odds with Europe At odds with Ireland Scotland likely to seek independence. Can’t even strike a deal with Greater Manchester Selling the North West down the river Have removed safeguards against labelling of cheap US food imports.

What would it take for you to realise that this is the worst Government in modern British history? Please wake up to the right wing propaganda you’ve been fed. Lord Buckethead would currently be better at running this country than Johnson and his morally bereft cronies.

mrsjg · 25/10/2020 07:23

I've voted Labour all my life and will NEVER vote Conservative.

Their woeful handling of the covid crisis, a test and trace system that at appears not to work, PPE contacts awarded to companies without a proven track record, the free school meals debacle even though MP's get subsidised meals and a pay rise and god alone knows how they intend to deal with Brexit in the event of a no deal (Farage garage!).

The conservative government are turning people against each other, the north v the south, the have v have nots, English v Scots, Welsh, NI, teachers and NHS ; let's blame each other instead of blaming them.

Despite all that they'd still win.

ColourMeExhausted · 25/10/2020 07:30

I'm lucky to live in Scotland where we have a viable alternative. But if I was still in England, I'd vote Labour. The thought of voting Tory goes against everything I believe in. I cannot believe there are those who will still vote for them despite undeniable evidence of their incompetence. If you did and will still vote Tory, then don't complain about what lies ahead of us as a result of Brexit. You don't have a right to.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/10/2020 07:32

Now Corbyn’s gone I’d vote Keith Stamer - though id like to his policies before deciding to either vote for him or not voting at all. The only one I’d like from the current government is Sunak.

Elai1978 · 25/10/2020 07:46

12 billion on a failed track and trace system

Your beloved Labour scum cost the taxpayer £26 billion in botched IT projects last time they were in power, so I’m not sure why you think they can do better. I’d sooner stick a broken bottle up my arse than vote for that shower of bastards.

derxa · 25/10/2020 07:50

(Poor bloody Keir Starmer. If you want to vote for him at least get his name right)
I think that Labour would come very close to winning or even win in a GE right now. CV has caused terrible misery and people will want to blame something. The Tories have mishandled the CV epidemic in many ways.
Keir needs to get rid of people like Angela Rayner and then I might vote for Labour. I want people like Annaliese Dodds. Serious and detail driven.

Whatthebloodyell · 25/10/2020 07:53

I never have voted Conservative, and this lot are particularly repulsive so I can’t see
Me changing my mind!

Chocolateandamaretto · 25/10/2020 07:56

Didn’t vote Tory, still wouldn’t. Some Tory voting family are contemplating voting labour for the first time in their lives as well.

TobblyBobbly · 25/10/2020 07:57

I'm a floating voter and have voted for all three of the main parties over the years.

Last time I voted Labour, and I'd do the same again if there was an election tomorrow. More for Brexit related reasons than Covid ones.

Wejustdontknow · 25/10/2020 07:58

Labour lost my vote last time, I could not have given a vote to corbyn but they have definitely won me back for the next election. My labour led council have also gone against the government and are providing meals over the holidays for all children on free school meals which I am very impressed with. They have done a lot recently in my area which is for the good of the people

bellinisurge · 25/10/2020 08:02

I spoiled my paper last time. I would vote Labour with Starmer as leader. Or, frankly, anyone who wasn't a Corbynite as leader.
My half decent Labour MP only retained their previously safe Red Wall seat because the Brexit Party took votes off the Tories.
As a Jewish descent Irish heritage person- there was nothing about Corbyn led Labour that I could vote for and I would rather stick hot pokers up my arse than vote for Brexit Tories. Or Tories.

TheVanguardSix · 25/10/2020 08:04

Yes. I would vote the same.
I have never voted Tory.

MooseBreath · 25/10/2020 08:09

I voted Labour, and I would again. With bells on.

Squirrelblanket · 25/10/2020 08:15

I would like to think that the Tories wouldn't win again, but I think it's unlikely. I am unfortunate enough to know many Tory voters and I have observed that most Tories are simply unable to connect the current shit state of affairs with the Tory government. So until they manage to get a single brain cell between them, they will keep on voting Tory because 'Labour wouldn't do any better'. 🙄

user1497207191 · 25/10/2020 08:17

It depends on options. If there was a credible alternative to the Tories, they'd walk it. If Labour can't prove themselves, they'll struggle. Jury is out on Starmer.

user1497207191 · 25/10/2020 08:20

Brown sold off our gold reserves at rock bottom prices and he ruined private pension schemes. Neither party are immune from financial stupidity.
BamboozledandBefuddled · 25/10/2020 08:24

I live in an ultra-safe Tory constituency so my vote is a waste of time anyway. I've never voted for them and never would. Very disappointed in Starmer so far so I'd have to waste my vote on the Green Party again.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 25/10/2020 08:43

@user1497207191

Economists are still divided as to whether Brown selling our gold when he did was a good or bad decision. There is an argument that he was right to diversify our assets. They all agree that the UK lost about £5billion on the deal. Compared to the amount this Government has squandered that is nothing.

They’re not my beloved Labour. I’m a centrist, but the Tories have pulled so far to the right that of course you would assume that anyone to the left of you is in love with Labour. And compared to the toxicity of the current Gov, anything would be better, except, perhaps the GOP.

I’m just not selfish enough to ever vote Tory. I care not just about my own pockets, but about society as a whole. I support parties that help the most vulnerable, rather than allowing their disaster-capitalist friends to bleed the country dry. I’m sorry that so many people in this country care only about themselves. That’s why the Tories just keep on winning.

littlebillie · 25/10/2020 08:52

I thick Boris will be gone soon. I think the Torys would benefit from a new leader.

I still waiting for Labour to find a leader I can take seriously
