To want everyone to know the names of the MPs who voted against feeding hungry children?

Remember Marcus Rashford and his campaign to extend free school meals? Yesterday all but a handful of Tory MPs voted against extending free school meals over the school holidays until Easter 2021. You can see if your MP is amongst them here: votes.parliament.uk/Votes/Commons/Division/896#noes

Whatever your thoughts on what parents should be doing some children are going to go hungry. Why punish the children because of the sins of the parent? And remember most people on benefits are in work.

Plus there is a bloody pandemic. We’re in unprecedented times. People who were just about managing are now on the bones of their arse.

We have billions to spaff up the wall on a useless test and trace system, or useless Ppe but we can’t feed a few hungry kids. And le’t not forget that the MPs voting against this get subsidised meals and can claim for their food on expenses.

"Oh but it's parents responsibility to feed their children"

Just thought I would add it before someone else does.

The fact these children are the future tax payers who will be paying for the pandemic is ignored.

www.theyworkforyou.com

Shows the voting records of all MPs

neverenoughchelseaboots · 22/10/2020 07:47

Sorry - misunderstood. You were already posting the link. It's a disgrace and I'm ashamed of my MP.

LakieLady · 22/10/2020 07:50

Needless to say, the useless Tory drone who is my MP is among them. She's nothing but lobby fodder for the right-wing of the Tories, who currently are very much in control.

I hope that this comes back to bite them on the arse come election time.

They have no care or compassion for the poor and vulnerable. In fact, they probably welcome the fact that keeping poor kids inadequately fed damages their educational chances and will keep them in low-paid work, and under the heel of the Tory boot, for another generation.

Mistystar99 · 22/10/2020 07:51

No surprise to see my MP there, the arsehole.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 22/10/2020 08:00

Bastards, my local mp is on there too.

Ifailed · 22/10/2020 08:04

I wrote to my MP about this last week, still waiting for a reply. Needless to say he voted against extended free school meals.

NoSquirrels · 22/10/2020 08:05

Thank you. OBVIOUSLY my useless Tory MP is on the ‘IDGAF about hungry kids’ list.

Off to write yet another email...

whataballbag · 22/10/2020 08:08

Mine did. Despite being one of the most deprived areas in the U.K.

Ylvamoon · 22/10/2020 08:08

They obviously don't understand the concept of hunger.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 22/10/2020 08:08

My (Tory) MP isn’t on there! Does that mean he defied the government and voted for it??

I am actually quite surprised (I always thought he was a bit of a dick) and strangely proud!

Whenwillow · 22/10/2020 08:10

I know mine will be in there without looking....off to lol anyway.

RickOShay · 22/10/2020 08:10

Thank you for that @WrongKindOfFace
I’ve just emailed my mp, asking him to outline his reasons for his vote, and suggesting he does some volunteering in our community.
I’m not holding my breath.

Whenwillow · 22/10/2020 08:14

I was right.

TwentyViginti · 22/10/2020 08:14

And le’t not forget that the MPs voting against this get subsidised meals and can claim for their food on expenses.

This is the most enraging fact to me. MPs have access to subsidised and free meals, but vote against some kids in need having that access.

earthtopluto · 22/10/2020 08:14

Do MPs have to vote? Mine appears not to have voted. Looking through the voting history, I don't understand how anyone could possibly think it is OK to vote for no measures to stop climate change Confused

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 22/10/2020 08:14

Mines on there

No surprise

Why were they voting again it....why did they feel it was a bad idea to make sure children have food?

Has anyones mp said why?

AndThatsNotRight · 22/10/2020 08:14

Needn't have wasted my time looking, mine is on the list. You'd have thought a doctor would know better but to be honest, I think she only cares about her own position within the party and will agree to anything Boris says.

planplan · 22/10/2020 08:16

I knew without looking mine would voting no.
Horrid woman!

sar302 · 22/10/2020 08:16

It really does take a special kind of human to consider it and then say "no, actually, I don't want to feed hungry children."

littledrummergirl · 22/10/2020 08:18

My tory mp abstained. I don't know how I feel about that.

hedgehogger1 · 22/10/2020 08:19

I don't even need to look to know mine will be there

ShebaShimmyShake · 22/10/2020 08:20

Yes, my MP is there but I already knew he was a shit.

Iheardarumour · 22/10/2020 08:23

I'm raging. I am privileged. But some of my dd's friends at school are not. The school PTA is raising money to provide meals during half term. But tbh, why should it gave to be down to individual communities? This isn't about politics, it's about fucking humanity.

My MP is Labour, voted yes. My mum's MP is Tory, the type who likes photo-ops of himself at food banks and schools and pops up on your doorstep before and election never to be seen again. He voted no.

Even the fucking children's minister and Matt Wanksock the health sec said no.

Absolutely raging.

mrshoho · 22/10/2020 08:27

This make me sick. I knew my hypocritical MP would vote this way. We live in a borough that has some of the highest deprivation as well as many of the super wealthy. On paper, without breaking down the figures it comes across as a thriving area but it is far from it.

It's sickening that we as taxpayers are paying for these greedy MPs food expenses and God know what.
