To want everyone to know the names of the MPs who voted against feeding hungry children?

Remember Marcus Rashford and his campaign to extend free school meals? Yesterday all but a handful of Tory MPs voted against extending free school meals over the school holidays until Easter 2021. You can see if your MP is amongst them here: votes.parliament.uk/Votes/Commons/Division/896#noes

Whatever your thoughts on what parents should be doing some children are going to go hungry. Why punish the children because of the sins of the parent? And remember most people on benefits are in work.

Plus there is a bloody pandemic. We’re in unprecedented times. People who were just about managing are now on the bones of their arse.

We have billions to spaff up the wall on a useless test and trace system, or useless Ppe but we can’t feed a few hungry kids. And le’t not forget that the MPs voting against this get subsidised meals and can claim for their food on expenses.

Mines there :( what a disgrace.

Can MN take on the gov in the next election? Can we all get our family and friends to vote labour? (Lighthearted) bribe Or hint ect. Can we make a difference and stop these bastards?!?

SteveHarringtonsHair · 22/10/2020 08:31

Thanks for posting this OP.
My Tory MP has voted yes on this and it’s made me view him in a completely different light.

MoiraRoseisupSchittCreek · 22/10/2020 08:32

Were the MPs whipped to vote or was it a free vote? Did any Tory MPs vote against or did they just abstain?

I'll be writing to mine to ask why they voted against it but know I'll get the usual waffle back.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 22/10/2020 08:42

My (Tory) MP isn't on the list but judging by his voting record (with delights such as "Generally voted against laws to promote equality and human rights", he doesn't give a shit...surprise surprise. I don't even have kids, but looking at all those photos of Tory MPs who voted against free school meals has choked me up. Utter bastards Angry

TurquoiseDragon · 22/10/2020 08:43

My MP is on there. Shame on her. I'll be emailing later, and a comment in my local FB group won't go amiss either.

motherrunner · 22/10/2020 08:45

My Tory MP on there too despite living in a city that has huge levels of deprivation.

Bastard.

dinosaurcookie · 22/10/2020 08:45

@MoiraRoseisupSchittCreek there is a tab at the top which you can select to see who voted 'aye'.
Labour here so my MP voted for.

Penners99 · 22/10/2020 08:47

Our MP’s vote themselves a £3k pay rise. New Zealand MP’s take a 20% pay cut.

Our MP’s are merely pigs at the trough, the trough that WE keep filling.

They all deserve what Mussolini got.

Fr0thandBubble · 22/10/2020 08:49

Generally I am pretty conservative but I am all for children getting free meals throughout the year, not just during term time.

Madhairday · 22/10/2020 08:50

Yep, mine is there and the one from the next constituency. Not one little bit surprised Angry

HartnellAvenue · 22/10/2020 08:53

MPs don't vote for their own pay anymore. Do you just believe everything you read?
Timekeepspassing · 22/10/2020 08:55

Mine is Labour so isn’t on there but no surprises that the conservative MP for the next door constituency, which covers the richest and poorest part of the city, is on there. Know which of her voters she trying to keep happy.

cantdothisnow1 · 22/10/2020 08:58

@RufustheSniggeringReindeer

Mines on there

No surprise

Why were they voting again it....why did they feel it was a bad idea to make sure children have food?

Has anyones mp said why?

My MP stated that she has voted against it because it is an attempt for Labour to derail the great efforts of the government during the coronovirus and that she will not back such a derailing vote and that she has faith that the government will continue to support the poor!!!

LMFAO!

What a load of bull. She has no interest in the increase of provision of children's mental health service or SEN education either.

Witch.

We used to have a rather lovely supportive conservative MP but she was one of the rebel MPs who resigned over Brexit.

Timekeepspassing · 22/10/2020 08:59

Ps not saying all who are well off would vote against this.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/10/2020 09:00

Whether you're for or against it Rayner calling an MP 'scum' in the HOC (then lying and trying to get away with it until she realised the mic had picked it up) was pathetic.

Love to see how Rayner would react to being called scum. She'd be gobbing off about it all day every day for weeks.

Peasbewithyou · 22/10/2020 09:04

Of course my MP is there on the list. When I’ve had the misfortune to have to contact her in the last her response was dismissive and bordering on rude. I have never voted for her and never will. Don’t quite understand how she still has the job!

Cornettoninja · 22/10/2020 09:08

My (conservative) MP voted aye - I’m quite shocked to be honest. I thought if he didn’t vote nay he’d of abstained.

Well that’s one point in the positive column - still a way to wipe out the negative points though.

MaxNormal · 22/10/2020 09:08

GetOffYourHighHorse

If the shoe fits. Voting against feeding hungry children does make you scum.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 22/10/2020 09:09

@Mumoftwoyoungkids

My (Tory) MP isn’t on there! Does that mean he defied the government and voted for it??

I am actually quite surprised (I always thought he was a bit of a dick) and strangely proud!

Oh. I’ve found him. He didn’t vote. So either he couldn’t be arsed to vote or he deep down thinks that children shouldn’t be allowed to go hungry but doesn’t think it strongly enough to completely defy the government.

Hmmm - I guess that is better than voting No. Not a lot - but a little.

W3dontdoduvets · 22/10/2020 09:10

Who the fuck is saying YABU? Have a word with yourselves.

Who cares? I agree with her but really, it doesn’t matter, does it.
MrsWooster · 22/10/2020 09:11

@Hartnellavenue They may not ‘vote for their own pay rise’ but they have the autonomy to refuse to accept it in the current situation.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/10/2020 09:14

'Who cares? I agree with her but really, it doesn’t matter, does it.'

Well you see, they have to decide if language matters or not. Typically it is very hypocritical of Labour to pearl clutch over 'humbug' from Johnson yet think 'scum' is fine well because they're right of course.

QueenofLean · 22/10/2020 09:14

Mine is predictably on there.
He’s a wanker.

Felifox · 22/10/2020 09:15

I live in an area where there is deprivation, how we have Conservative MP's I don't know, but our MP voted No. What's surprising is that one of our local councillors does an enormous amount for those in need, delivering food during lockdown, yet is a Conservative. Ironically it's just been mentioned on the local news segment on BBC Breakfast
