To ask what time is bedtime...

..in your head?

I dont have to get up until 7am tomorrow. I need 7-8 hours sleep, so I suppose I could o to bed at 11pm and feel refreshed.

But in my head, 10pm is bedtime, and staying up after seems wrong. I've felt this ay since I was a teenager, and thugh I stayed out at all hours, Past 10 was always Past Bedtime.

DH doesn't have a mental bedtime, so is always knackered after staying up until after midnight on weekdays.

AIBU?

I agree with 10ish! DS will be up at 6:30/7am, so I'm normally going up around then too.

ImFree2doasiwant · 18/10/2020 21:15

If I'm.up past 12 I consider it late. I frequently am.

Yellredder · 18/10/2020 21:15

Am with you! 10pm is definitely bedtime!

lioncitygirl · 18/10/2020 21:16

anytime after 1230am.

Lollypop4 · 18/10/2020 21:16

I aim for 10.30 everynight.
Reality is often 12am, sometines 1am.
I really need to change this though as Im so tired!

greytminds · 18/10/2020 21:17

10pm is my cut off too. Anything after that is staying up late. I not a night owl!

Frenchfancy · 18/10/2020 21:17

10pm is bedtime, lights out by 10:30

DramaAlpaca · 18/10/2020 21:17

I'm only getting started at 10pm! I consider 1am an early night.

cardibach · 18/10/2020 21:19

Depends what day it is and what I’m doing. I dint have a definite time. I go when I’m tired, or earlier if I know I have to get up early so I can be in bed at least 8 hours.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 18/10/2020 21:19

I am about to go up to watch tv, will probably be asleep for 10. I am working from home, at first I was staying up later as I gained an hour from commuting time. But now I have reverted back to 10ish.
My 13 year old naturally gets tired at 10.30. She will come and say goodnight to me...she laughs as she tells me it is my time to be tucked in.

Dp tends to come up at the same time as me. We will watch tv until I drop off and then he will watch his stuff until around 1ish. I don't know how he does it, he wakes and gets the kids ready and takes them to school. I couldn't do it with just 5 hours kip.

addictedtotheflats · 18/10/2020 21:19

10pm. Working or not. DS wakes at 7 so 8-9 hours for my days off. Up at 6 on work days. I need 7 minimum really

TurquoiseDress · 18/10/2020 21:20

I would LOVE to be in bed at 10pm!

Often used to be when DH was working away (no longer the case due to Covid!)

Mamette · 18/10/2020 21:22

12.30 am is bedtime, but I stay up later because I hate going to bed. If I go at 12.30 I feel virtuous.

Volcanicorange · 18/10/2020 21:22

I really wish I didn't need the sleep I do.
DC are still small, and the evening is the only time I get to think, but 10pm is bedtime to me, so staying up past that feels like robbing myself of sleep!

15month old Daughter goes to bed at 7 I'm usually in bed relaxing for a while and quite often am asleep before 9! Up at 6.30 and I'm still tired.

Rosebel · 18/10/2020 21:26

Used to be 10 but now it's whatever time my baby settles for the night usually between 12 and 2.

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 18/10/2020 21:26

When I worked evening shifts it was rare to be in bed before midnight, most nights it was 1a.m. bed and up at 6a.m.
Now I'm in bed 10pm latest, TV in bedroom but I usually go to sleep within half an hour, up at 6a.m.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/10/2020 21:27

I am nearly always in my bed before ten, usually around 9/9.30, however I play on my phone/MN/read for aaaaaages. I am usually asleep by midnight and regret it.

M0mmyneedswine · 18/10/2020 21:28

Id like it to be 1030 but usually watch some rubbish on tv till 11 then by the time ive got myslef ready its closer to 1130 and im annoyed with myself for not getting enough sleep

mummykauli7 · 18/10/2020 21:29

I'm in bed now 🙈

narcdad45 · 18/10/2020 21:32

In winter it's earlier so around 10.30-11 I go up, summer I'm later to bed by 12-12.30
I don't actually go to sleep straight away either as I read, worry about the stuff I need to do the next day etc, so in reality you can plus 60-90 minutes on top

ChanklyBore · 18/10/2020 21:33

I need 7-8 hours too, but my mental “bedtime” is midnight-1am. Mostly i head for bed around 12.30-1am. I like to shower before bed, and I struggle to drop off most nights, so it’s frequently closer to 2am before go to sleep. up at 6.45-7am.

I have small dc too and years of ridiculously disrupted sleep under my belt, but I also have teen dc who don’t go to bed until 10-11pm so I don’t get any switch off time if I don’t stay up later than them, it’s only going to get worse I suspect.

Yes I’m always tired but I’ve been like this for so long I don’t know how not to be tired.

WinWinnieTheWay · 18/10/2020 21:35

I like to be in bed for ten at the latest and read no later than midnight.

Usually, up at half nine and asleep by half ten.

Winter2019 · 18/10/2020 21:35

Go to bed at 22 (aim to) and then spend about an hour on my phone- MN, reading, Instagram

orchidsonabudget · 18/10/2020 21:37

For me it's midnight. But have been feeling shit all day so it will be earlier today
