Holy shit, why is it so sweet?! Sad

A lovely friend gave me a bottle of Jam Shed Shiraz...do they do other reds?

Jesus, I love red wine, and after a pretty misspent youth I thought I still had an 'I'll drink ote' mentality, but, my god, this is difficult.

Of course I have only said a huge thank you. But does anyone enjoy this? Really?

YABU it's delicious
YANBU it's vile...and probably has actual jam in it Envy

YABU.

I like it!! It's delicious. If you don't like it, I'll polish it off for you...

Although the promotion they did recently was rubbish. I bought a LOT of Jam Shed and won absolutely nothing. Swizz.

AriettyHomily · 18/10/2020 16:40

I Love it!

BunTooti · 18/10/2020 16:41

Hmmm, I wonder how well it will travel in the post...

Harmarsuperstar · 18/10/2020 16:43

I like it too!

Exasperatedcroc · 18/10/2020 16:48

Op I know what you mean. It is the only bottle of red wine ever that I haven't been able to finish. I wouldn't even cook with it. Tastes like no other Shiraz I have ever had.

gobbynorthernbird · 18/10/2020 16:49

It is wine for people who don't like wine. YANBU.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 18/10/2020 16:51

I’m torn... I had to vote YABU as I love it, but at the same time, I completely get that it wouldn’t be what you were expecting. The way I think of it is I love deep pan pizza, but I’d be disappointed to be served one if I was in a traditional trattoria in Naples. The same applies to Jam Shed - I enjoy it for what it is.

Circle89 · 18/10/2020 16:53

Far too sweet to drink. I have to agree with @gobbynorthernbird, I think it must be aimed at people who would not normally drink wine.

I like wine, but I also like sweet things 🤷‍♀️
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 18/10/2020 16:54

does it taste better chilled OP?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 18/10/2020 16:55

Yes, it does. (I know I’m not the OP, but I’m jumping in anyway Grin)

cardibach · 18/10/2020 16:56

I like wine.
I like dry wine and dislike sweet wine except with Christmas pudding.
I like Jam Shed.
I don’t think it’s sweet.

Grilledaubergines · 18/10/2020 17:00

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve seen it all over. Worth a try? Not keen on super dry wine and usually go for a Malbec.

Kitsmummy · 18/10/2020 17:03

I don't know Jam Shed but I bought some Barefoot Jammy Red and it was gopping. It's honestly the only red I've ever not been able to drink.

BunTooti · 18/10/2020 17:05

I love a super dry red wine so I think it's not aimed at me.
Does that mean I'm a grown up? Shock I really though I'd still drink anything, especially if it's free Grin Blush .

I found it too sweet although I pushed myself to finish the glass and sort of got used to it!! I did kick myself as I realised thr clue's in its name really. Wouldn't buy it again.

jackstini · 18/10/2020 17:05

Awful. The only think worse is non alcoholic red wine
I don't know what on earth they do with lovely Shiraz grapes to ruin it!

jackstini · 18/10/2020 17:06

*Thing

I do much prefer a dry wine too OP

BunTooti · 18/10/2020 17:08

I'm having a glass in the kitchen while I chop vegetables, I'm honestly at the point of holding my nose so I cant taste it. Or I could just not drink it.

OP posts:
MrsGrindah · 18/10/2020 17:11

I thought “ dry” and “sweet” only applied to whites ( apart from pudding and fortified wines. The dry feeling of red is usually the tannins .

iklboo · 18/10/2020 17:14

It is sweet - as is Jammy Red Roo. I don't mind it but I'd much rather have a Malbec. Barefoot do a lovely one.

BunTooti · 18/10/2020 17:17

I'd put Jam Shed down near port. My absolute favourites are Tempranillo and pinot noir...makes sense really.

And I now plan to pick up a sangiovese for research purposes.

Far too sweet for my tastes but DH liked it.

TheFluffiestCat · 18/10/2020 17:26

I drank it and enjoyed it but it gave me an absolute bastard of a hangover after 2-3 glasses. Back to Yellow Tail for me.
