Jam Shed

BunTooti · 18/10/2020 16:36

Holy shit, why is it so sweet?! Sad

A lovely friend gave me a bottle of Jam Shed Shiraz...do they do other reds?

Jesus, I love red wine, and after a pretty misspent youth I thought I still had an 'I'll drink ote' mentality, but, my god, this is difficult.

Of course I have only said a huge thank you. But does anyone enjoy this? Really?

YABU it's delicious
YANBU it's vile...and probably has actual jam in it Envy

I think I'm going to have to have a gin and tonic and hope DH can use it in a recipe. It does say something about mulled wine on the back, too soon?

AuditAngel · 18/10/2020 17:34

My BIL and Sister love it. I thought it was like drinking cold mulled wine.

CornedBeef451 · 18/10/2020 17:36

So sweet! I have never met a red wine I couldn't drink before but this one defeated me.

I think DH chucked it in a stew in the end, even he couldn't drink it.

BunTooti · 18/10/2020 17:38

Did it not make the stew taste like jam?
I'd hate to waste it. It feels like a failure.

It is almost the worst wine I have tried but it's not as bad as Yellow Tail Jammy Rammy Roo.

KinseyMilhone · 18/10/2020 17:50

@Kitsmummy

I don't know Jam Shed but I bought some Barefoot Jammy Red and it was gopping. It's honestly the only red I've ever not been able to drink.
Me too!! I asked DH to grab me a bottle of something red while he was out and he came back with the Barefoot Jammy one. I filled a large glass, took a big swig and genuinely thought he had bought port by mistake Grin. I hate wasting wine but I just couldn't drink it.

Same. It's the only red wine I've ever poured away. Absolutely gross.

theluckiest · 18/10/2020 18:27

Yes, agree that Jammy Red Roo is absolutely disgusting - an aberration of a red wine 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Squirrelblanket · 18/10/2020 18:43

Yes both the 'red wines' mentioned in this thread are absolutely vile and shouldn't be called red wines.

It's like when someone says they'll get a bottle of wine in and it's zinfandel or lambrini. (Yes MIL, I'm looking at you!)

tenlittlecygnets · 18/10/2020 18:49

My h loves it!!

GnomeOrMistAndIceGuy · 18/10/2020 18:52

Oh god. I'm so glad people are in agreement over Jammy Red Roo. Awful awful stuff! I'm into two particular reds at the moment: 19 Crimes - the dark red one, is it called the Banished or something? Also, Black Stump from Laithwaites. Highly recommend to lovers of red wine who don't enjoy sucking on a bag of Caster sugar!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 18/10/2020 18:52

well if its better chilled, freeze it in ice lolly molds

cardibach · 18/10/2020 18:53

@BunTooti

I'd put Jam Shed down near port. My absolute favourites are Tempranillo and pinot noir...makes sense really.
I also love Tempranillo and Pinot noir. Heavy, dark reds. I still like Jam Shed.
RaininSummer · 18/10/2020 18:53

Me and OH I love it and I am just polishing off a glass which accompanied our home made pizza. Odd as I am Not a fan of sweet things normally.

Readysetcake · 18/10/2020 18:58

It’s one of the worst wines I’ve ever had. I can’t stomach it. My FIL loves it. I just can’t comprehend how anyone can.

Ginkypig · 18/10/2020 19:06

@BunTooti

If it’s as bad as that you may as well do an experiment because you hate it anyway.

Stick the bottle in the fridge and see if having it cold dampens some of the sweetness of it so it’s more enjoyable.

Come back and let us know how you get on.

P0larB3ar · 18/10/2020 19:20

We found it salty as well as sweet and not in a good way. Neither of us liked it and didn’t finish the bottle.😝

Nonotthisagain · 18/10/2020 19:30

Sorry no dp and I love it!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 18/10/2020 19:35

A colleague highly recommended it to me in August, the opened bottle is still in the rack, bleugh,

Nitw1t · 18/10/2020 19:35

Clicked on this as I thought hoped someone had a shed for making jam. Like a man cave but with a worktop jar-steraliser and a mountain of sugar.

Gutted

BunTooti · 18/10/2020 19:54

Okay, I'll stick it in the fridge. For science!

OP posts:
Ginkypig · 18/10/2020 22:59

Oh good!

It’ll be a bit weird because red wine feels like it should be not cold but some of it tastes better chilled.

Do come back and let us know how you got on.

Itsmybirthday19 · 19/10/2020 01:55

I very much thought this was a euphemism

Antonov · 19/10/2020 04:08

The brand name and the style of label tells you all you need to know.

Imagine turning up to a blind date to meet a man called Geoffrey wearing red corduroy trousers, flippers, an orange high visibility jacket and a deer-stalker. You would cross the road immediately and hope your don’t gain eye contact.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 19/10/2020 18:16

recommended it to me in August, the opened bottle is still in the rack

time to use it to clean the drains I think Grin
