I'm not being unreasonable it's annoying I just wanted a rant and didn't no where to put it.
Dh loves designer gear just because well it's designer. Like we may need a new fridge but he doesn't want to buy that and will buy Hugo boss trainers for the same price. His socks had holes in yesterday I went ooo nearly Christmas il get you some socks joking around. With a straight face he turned around and said I don't want socks but my Ralph Lauren aftershave is running out 😑 I like nice things but I would happily buy a whole outfit with no holes then buy one item because it has a label

That would drive me mad! I cannot really put up with it. I am not fond of brands, not the expensive type. I like nice things, but I like them more if they are cheaper. I think he needs stearing towards first buy the fridge.... then you can get what you like. It is ok now if you can afford it, but life can change very quickly, and it is important to have your priorities right.
And get him some socks for Christmas.

This is a great thread. I've had some good laughs.

Personally, no way would I be attracted to the kind of vacuous men like this.

PP goldenharvest said it in a nutshell.

I find it a bit sad that someone is so bound up with hype and labels and so superficial. Christ. The planet is burning and he worries about a sodding label?

@WhoUsedMyName I shall remain disappointed lol Grin

We all have our faults, in the grand scheme of things he seems good in all other ways. I think OP was just having a light hearted moan!

BlueJava · 18/10/2020 18:56

Ask him if he likes paying the "stupid tax" just for a name.

Women spend thousands trying to bag a £10k birkin. This is their reward after 'building a relationship' with a sales associate in Hermes. Sometimes spending twice that to earn the 'privilege' of getting the bag and not necessarily in the specs they want but what may be available. I think that's mad (silly, stupid, insane) but people all over the world do this daily. Each to their own.

From your post it doesn't sound like he would truly go without a fridge if needed. He likes nice things and if he can afford them without it being a detriment to the family finances I don't see the harm. There isn't much to enjoy in the world these days tbh.

My BIL is like this.
One day I walked past him checking himself out in the mirror. He had a turtle neck on, skinny jeans and a big umbrella in his hand. It wasn't raining.
He's all about looking flashy.. Grin

WhoUsedMyName · 18/10/2020 19:38

Throwing a curve ball. He doesn't do selfies 🤳🏼 if this builds a better picture GrinWink

othereise known as infectious Peacock syndrome that hasn't been cured after marriage or cash zapping children/ education costs.

lioncitygirl · 18/10/2020 22:41

Yikes - he sounds insufferable.... do you get nice stuff too? Or just him?

user1481840227 · 20/10/2020 00:33

Oh come on women do this all the time!

Treat themselves to their favourite special occasion perfume....or want a good leather jacket that will last forever or a nice handbag or a fancy pair of sunglasses!
