To think this is a total fucking dick move?

Toddler spilled juice on our bed, soaking the duvet and mattress protector.

Both too big for our washing machine so I popped it in the car and headed down to our local supermarket where there's a big automated washer and dryer in the car park.

Shove my stuff through the washer (it fills the 18kg drum completely) and as the timer counts down I'm getting ready to shove it in the dryer.

With the big neon timer showing just two bloody minutes of my wash cycle left, an arsehole of a woman swings her car into the spot next to mine and empties a tiny bag of washing (enough for a standard home tumble dryer or to put on a single aired) into the dryer, sets it to half an hour and waltzes off to the supermarket.

The dryer and washer are a single unit so there's no way she missed my timer showing only two minutes or the fact it was full of bulky bedding.

I have no other way of drying my duvet and mattress protector, which I need dried so I can sleep on tonight.

AIBU to think that was a total dick move on her part?

It’s this set up, getting quite popular.

Where is the display on that pic? Is it above the pay bit? Are there 3 mini screens showing the remaining time?
I'm absolutely amazed by these btw!!

@Biancadelrioisback

Tbf, you don't need a mattress protector for one night. Surely it can air dry? And do you really only have one duvet?
Yes we only have one duvet. We lack the storage space for a second - not every home is blessed with copious storage space.

If we had another duvet there no way I'd be sitting freezing my arse off in a car park waiting for a duvet to dry.

Is it only in Scotland?

YABU.

She was there first. Your items were still in the washing machine.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/10/2020 18:26

Come to think of it, I’ve seen them in Portugal

Biancadelrioisback · 17/10/2020 18:26

Fair enough, I mean my house is tiny but I keep my spare duvet on top of the wardrobe rolled up and vacuum packed. Pain in the bum getting it out when I need to swap them over

nighttrains · 17/10/2020 18:27

We don't have copious storage space either but a vacuum packed duvet takes up so little space. Do you have a suitcase for going away? Keep it in there.

waitingfortheknightbus · 17/10/2020 18:28

Cor 30 mins in a tumble dryer is impressive! I wish our supermarkets had these things - never seen one before!

YABU tho. She’s not a mind reader.

AHintOfStyle · 17/10/2020 18:28

@Biancadelrioisback

Is it only in Scotland?
If you look at KIS Wash Laundry Solutions on FB you can see they are a company who installs these machines and not just in Scotland.
JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/10/2020 18:30

@Biancadelrioisback

Is it only in Scotland?
No, they’re all over the world, according to the Revolution laundry website.

Sorry OP, we’ve got off track. Minds blown Grin.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 17/10/2020 18:32

She probably loaded it in thinking "good, I arrived just in time" - she was before you, why should she wait?

FairfaxAikman · 17/10/2020 18:33

I'll accept IABU in expecting her to wait (which I didn't really) but I don't think IABU to be a bit annoyed when I was clearly stood next to it waiting for the blinking door to unlock.

Was this her?

Biancadelrioisback · 17/10/2020 18:34

Oh my days, I'm going to email my supermarkets and BEG them to get one. I usually have to hand wash mind in the bath

DumplingsAndStew · 17/10/2020 18:35

Are you home yet, or just sat in the car still?

Biancadelrioisback · 17/10/2020 18:35

Exactly who I had in mind IronMaiden

Clearthinking · 17/10/2020 18:36

That would annoy me but you aren't going to win! You must be terribly considerate to said lady who sounds annoying, abide by lack of common sense rules and wear your mask. It seems to be the way this site works. I swear if someone let the door slam in your face you will be mauled on mumsnet for you expecting them to have manners and open it! Why should they seems to be the most common term on here

waitingfortheknightbus · 17/10/2020 18:36

Oh wait I think there’s some in Cornwall at the A30 services!! I think!

I wondered what all the road signs with bubbles on were about. I was most discombobulated

SleepingStandingUp · 17/10/2020 18:36

She didn't do anything WRONG
but
I do think it's bad etiquette.

popcornlover · 17/10/2020 18:37

Wow.
