To think this is a total fucking dick move?

Toddler spilled juice on our bed, soaking the duvet and mattress protector.

Both too big for our washing machine so I popped it in the car and headed down to our local supermarket where there's a big automated washer and dryer in the car park.

Shove my stuff through the washer (it fills the 18kg drum completely) and as the timer counts down I'm getting ready to shove it in the dryer.

With the big neon timer showing just two bloody minutes of my wash cycle left, an arsehole of a woman swings her car into the spot next to mine and empties a tiny bag of washing (enough for a standard home tumble dryer or to put on a single aired) into the dryer, sets it to half an hour and waltzes off to the supermarket.

The dryer and washer are a single unit so there's no way she missed my timer showing only two minutes or the fact it was full of bulky bedding.

I have no other way of drying my duvet and mattress protector, which I need dried so I can sleep on tonight.

AIBU to think that was a total dick move on her part?
@category12 if you actually read my subsequent posts you'd see that actually I would have taken no longer than her. This thing is a big industrial drum and does a duvet in half an hour.
Yes, but did she know that? I wouldn't know that. It's something you learn with experience presumably. I would just think, "omg, she's going to take forever."

VanGoghsDog · 19/10/2020 09:36

What does this mean:

If you pile your duvet on top of the hub thing of your home washing machine you won't get an unbalanced signal.

?

kowari · 19/10/2020 10:44

I would just think, "omg, she's going to take forever." Me too

lolgirl1996 · 19/10/2020 11:15

I have had that done to me before same situation daughter spilt stuff on the bed, Some ignorant bitch comes up shoves her (of all things) just a doormat!!! Like it was priority she could see I have 1 min 35 left my daughter's screaming because she wants to get moving and I said I don't have long left may I use it as it's a duvet she shrugs and pisses off leaving me with a soaking wet duvet screaming child while I wait for a fucking doormat to dry I don't drive so had to hall it in a bag so I feel how annoyed you were some people just take the piss and all you saying dibs that's childish!

Teddybear27 · 19/10/2020 11:18

@Jayne35..I am allowed to give my opinion which the OP asked for? By the time you see these hundreds of people have replied any way...I’m sorry if I offended, not my intention...

maggiethecat · 19/10/2020 12:05

Lolgirl1996 - Some ignorant bitch 😂

Definitely a fucking dick move in your case too.

BugCatcher879 · 19/10/2020 12:46

Lots in our local garages here.

ellyeth · 19/10/2020 13:15

I can see it must have been very frustrating, and I expect it is natural to feel annoyed - even when that annoyance is not really justified. However, I doubt she even noticed that you would be needing to use the dryer and, to be honest, I'm not sure many people would have been generous enough to wait for your wash to finish and for a large amount of bedding to be dried. Perhaps she was in a massive hurry too. Can you say, hand on heart, that, had your positions been reversed, you would have done differently from her?

As I've said multiple times I would have asked "are you going to be needing the dryer?" Or "can I nip ahead of you please?" But that's just how I was brought up - and I'm not just saying that

It is irritating yes. However. First come first served. YABU.

I wouldn't have asked in case you said no! Grin Better hop on in there and pip you to the post, and have plausible deniability since there wasn't a queue, (whether you think you were it or not) than to ask and give you both my agreement that you were next in line and the power to tell me no.

tinklywaters · 19/10/2020 15:25

Well OP it could be worse. My dh put our duvet in our wash machine after our lovely dc pooed on it as a baby. I came home to hear a washing machine jumping off the floor with our 13.5 tog down duvet stuffed
inside it.
I cancelled the wash before it broke the machine and took out the soaking wet duvet. We took a standing coat hanger and hung it up in the garden in the hole that the cold mid October sunshine may well dry it.
Instead it toppled over into a large muddy patch of grass cuttings.

Honestly your life will be ok.

tinklywaters · 19/10/2020 15:26

In the hope not hole*

Pinkfluff76 · 19/10/2020 16:11

Goodness me OP I can’t believe you’re getting so much flick! It was definitely a dick move in my mind. She pushed in. You were obviously about to use the dryer. As for all the people who don’t think so, I’d love to see this happen to them...

Pinkfluff76 · 19/10/2020 16:11

Flack not flick!

GabsAlot · 19/10/2020 19:20

is there a list of where these machines are

HeronLanyon · 19/10/2020 20:19

I would also love a list - my eyes have never seen the like!!

TheOneTheOnlyPedroPony · 19/10/2020 22:15

@GabsAlot @HeronLanyon here you go

www.revolution-laundry.com/our-locations/

I am amazed as I thought we only had one and there's actually 6 fairly local to me!

maggiethecat · 20/10/2020 00:11

Pinkfluff76 - they'll be the ones who think it's ok to nab the parking space they've seen someone waiting to get into. Tough shit that the other person had to wait for the person reversing out of the space and that opportunistically they had easier access and could nab it. "How could I know that that's definitely the space they were waiting for?!" or "The space was free and I was in a position to take it, that's life"

Not a dick move, except of course when they're on the receiving end.

lynfordthecrab · 20/10/2020 12:14

YABU. As everyone is saying you weren't using it. Why do you think your time is more important than hers?
