To think this is a total fucking dick move?

Toddler spilled juice on our bed, soaking the duvet and mattress protector.

Both too big for our washing machine so I popped it in the car and headed down to our local supermarket where there's a big automated washer and dryer in the car park.

Shove my stuff through the washer (it fills the 18kg drum completely) and as the timer counts down I'm getting ready to shove it in the dryer.

With the big neon timer showing just two bloody minutes of my wash cycle left, an arsehole of a woman swings her car into the spot next to mine and empties a tiny bag of washing (enough for a standard home tumble dryer or to put on a single aired) into the dryer, sets it to half an hour and waltzes off to the supermarket.

The dryer and washer are a single unit so there's no way she missed my timer showing only two minutes or the fact it was full of bulky bedding.

I have no other way of drying my duvet and mattress protector, which I need dried so I can sleep on tonight.

AIBU to think that was a total dick move on her part?

It’s irritating OP but in this case it’s life that’s irritating not the poor woman with an equal right to use the dryer.

damnthatanxiety · 17/10/2020 18:08

Honestly OP, if I was the other person, I would have been focussed on what I was doing and used the drier as it was not currently being used. I wouldn't be checking around to see what other people were doing. People are busy.

Hoctober · 17/10/2020 18:08

Bet that bitch waltzed with a springiness and lightness of step that only a person winning in the car park laundry stakes could ever even hope to achieve.

FairfaxAikman · 17/10/2020 18:09

@theskyispurple

Basically, the n the spirit of a parking thread, you must post a pic so we can truly understand
Pic of the set up has been posted by another poster up thread.

As I say I've used this thing a few times, as have friends and family and none of us have ever had folk queue jump.

As a pp said Glaswegians (and Scots in general) are friendly like that.

...more importantly, what re these vendy machines???? They sound amazing! Cakes????

JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/10/2020 18:09

YABU

In other news, I’m jealous of this facility. I have to take my big duvets into the launderette where a microfibre SK duvet costs £36 to be service washed

nighttrains · 17/10/2020 18:09

YABU. First come first served. You can do without the mattress protector for one night surely? We keep 1 spare duvet in the house for problems like people being sick overnight and so on, nothing fancy just a cheap one from a budget store.

Maybe the dick move was letting your toddler have juice in your bedroom.

It's annoying for sure but you're being unreasonable I'm afraid

🤣🤣🤣🤣

A laundrette in a (albeit Scottish) supermarket carpark ????

Mind blown.

Where does it plug in???? Do you have to bring your own powder????

Now that really IS airing your dirty laundry in public!!!! Boom boom

JamminDoughnuts · 17/10/2020 18:16

first comefirst serve
but i guess she could have asked
why didnt you say something?

GrouchyKiwi · 17/10/2020 18:16

I can't see the picture. Sad

Er. Thread contribution: I think she was being a tad unreasonable, but only a little. I'd have waited for you, but my husband thinks I'm too polite.

FairfaxAikman · 17/10/2020 18:17

Do you have to bring your own powder????

Washing liquid included, fabric softener added for £2 extra.

Can see the frustration but YABU. One of you were going to have to wait 30 minutes, she was there first.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/10/2020 18:17

Is there supposed to be a photo attached to your post to me, @FairfaxAikman? If so, I can’t see it Sad.

Supermarket laundry services are really common in France on supermarket carparks.

OP YABU. It's one of those things. You just have to wait.

Try googling 'washing machine at petrol station'
JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/10/2020 18:19

@PatriciaPerch

I can't see the photo either but I'm really interested to see it too! :o it sounds brilliant

sapnupuas · 17/10/2020 18:19

There's one of these in a petrol station forecourt by me. They blow my mind. I wouldn't have thought there was much demand but the thing is always being used.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/10/2020 18:20

I’ve just googled. They look marvellous.

Biancadelrioisback · 17/10/2020 18:21

Tbf, you don't need a mattress protector for one night. Surely it can air dry? And do you really only have one duvet?
