Lasagna with cheese on top

451 replies

RainbowRaine · 15/10/2020 18:53

Just ordered a food delivery as a treat, DH ordered a lasagna and it came with cheese on top.

I would of complained as cheese does not belong on lasagna but DH loves it as says it's meant to come with melted grated cheese on top.

I disagree and think it's just meant to have the white sauce.

Should Lasagna have cheese?

YANBU = No cheese

YABU = Yes cheese

yearinyearout · 15/10/2020 19:45

Yabu. Lasagne has cheese on top!

SleepingStandingUp · 15/10/2020 19:45

Meat, cheese sauce, pasta, meat, cheese sauce, pasta, cheese sauce, cheese. Sorted.

GrumpyHoonMain · 15/10/2020 19:45

Of course lasagna has cheese on top?

Justjoshin22 · 15/10/2020 19:46

Mon the cheese!!

Lasagne without cheese... Christ Alive what is the world coming to...

I really want lasagne now.

fullofhope100 · 15/10/2020 19:48

@Brunt0n

What the hell kind of lasagne doesn't have cheese?

A shit one, that's what

Your response has really cheered me up (after the shittest day) - thank you @BruntOn xxx
userxx · 15/10/2020 19:49

I'd be devastated if I was served lasagne without the best bit. Where did you get the idea it should be cheeseless.?

pastandpresent · 15/10/2020 19:50

SleepingStandingUp, no it's not cheese sauce, it's white/Béchamel sauce + cheese! Grin

FizzyGreenWater · 15/10/2020 19:50

No. Never put cheese on it.

The top is a lovely cooked white sauce.

itchyfinger · 15/10/2020 19:51

What the fuck did I just read OP?

faithfulbird · 15/10/2020 19:51

My mum always adds cheese on top and I love it that way. It tastes a bit bland without tbh.

No - cheese sauce and cheese. Then maybe some more cheese.
CaptainMyCaptain · 15/10/2020 19:53

I've just had lasagne for dinner - with cheese. Of course.

bibbitybobbitycats · 15/10/2020 19:53

I just checked my Anna del Conte book. She dots the top of the bechamel with butter.

Sunshineonarainydayy · 15/10/2020 19:55

Must be a reverse

ScrambledSmegs · 15/10/2020 19:55

I have a recipe from a proper Italian nonna, and it has Parmesan or similar hard cheese sprinkled on the bechamel sauce in every layer. Plus on top.

You can of course make a lasagne without cheese but it will be a bit shit in comparison.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 15/10/2020 19:55

@dannydyerismydad

Mozzarella in every layer and Parmesan on top for crunch. What kind of lasagne doesn't have cheese?
Absolutely this. Tia the Only Way.

Ps OP you would have complained?! ShockHmm

BigBadVoodooHat · 15/10/2020 19:56

I certainly wouldn’t rate your lasagne if you served it to me without cheese.

OP hasn’t been back to the thread because she’s rocking in a corner somewhere, stultified by the mortification of the multiple times she’s served ‘her’ lasagne to guests, little suspecting that the minute they left they disgustedly proclaimed ‘Well, that was a shit lasagna!’

positivelynegative · 15/10/2020 19:57

I just had cheese for dinner, with a spot of lasagne under it.

Is there a difference between bechamal sauce and cheese and cheese sauce? I make bechamal and add cheese
billy1966 · 15/10/2020 19:57

Bechamel sauce here but I will admit to sprinkling some freshly grated parmigiano on top of mine when I plate up my portion. I am a bit of a greedy pig though and love cheese.

ScrambledSmegs · 15/10/2020 19:58

I'm going to have to try Worrywart's mozzarella version too.

sqirrelfriends · 15/10/2020 19:58

You're insane.

Cheesy white sauce with extra cheese on top, it's the only way.

Flipflophurray · 15/10/2020 19:59

This is the goadiest thread I’ve ever seen Grin
