If I went & shot the woman across the road

Sorry this is long. Dh went to fetch ds1 from school & for about 10 mins dd2 aged 10 who goes to high school and dd1 who's 14 were in the house on their own. A woman across the road came hammering on our front door and dd2 answered it. She came to complain that while her front door was open our cat had widdled in her crash helmet. She grabbed dd2 and stuck her head in the crash helmet to smell it. DD1 was giving her a mouthful while this was going on. She told dd2 that she was going to get a gun & shoot our cat or drown him in the canal. DD2 started screaming at this point so one of our neighbours came round & took her into her house while she calmed down. I'm fuming - I appreciate it's not nice for her but surely if she's got a problem with my cat she should speak in a civilised manner to me or dh. DH has reported her to housing association but I'm very tempted to go across the road & deck her for terrorising dd2 (I know this isnt very helpful)

Cat people are quite weird, I've found

dustystar · 12/10/2007 19:26

I'd be fuming too - how dare she take it out on your poor dd

moondog · 12/10/2007 19:30

I'd be fuming too if your cat pissed in my helmet.
And i too would have drowned the cat.
She's got a point.Do you not see that?

cazzybabs · 12/10/2007 19:30

It is a bit odd your cat peeed in her cycle hat...and even odder she can think it acceptable fto rant at your dd. mind you we had a psycho neighbour who hated our cats and so we moved to escape her.

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 12/10/2007 19:32

I'd call the flipping police, how dare she physically grab your child??? and then threaten to hurt your cat??

Also, can she seriously be sure that your cat peed in her helmet???

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 12/10/2007 19:33

moondog are you serious?? you would have killed an animal because it may have peed in a cycle helmet???
Please tell me you're being sarcastic.

KathH · 12/10/2007 19:34

the thing is she's got 2 cats of her own - if it was my cat I hold my hands up. What I cant accept is the way she treated dd2, its not her fault.

id go over and have very serious words with her she was right to be annoyed but she shouldnt have done that to your dcs

pyjamagirlgotbitbyvampires · 12/10/2007 19:38

phone the police now

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 12/10/2007 19:38

She has two cats? so it may have been any of those, which tbh is way more likely, I have had cats for years and I have yet to see one go into someone elses house certainly not to pee in their helmet

FWIW, I got out of my car today, right by my front gate, to about 6 blobs of dogshit, but I certainly wouldnt have been abusive toward a child for it, nor a dog, it is down to the owner to sort it out.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 12/10/2007 19:39

i would go over and pee through her letter box. using a she wee of course.

Bouncingturtleskulls · 12/10/2007 19:40

I would report her to the police for assault. Your poor dds must have been terrified.

I think your cat has shown excellent taste in wazzing in this woman's helmet. Cats everyehere should learn from her example. I might train my own cat to wazz in the (hypothetical) helmet of the woman next door who cannot shut a door in the middle of the night without waking up the whole street.

Actually the more I think about this, the more impressed I am with your cat. She must have stood in a very precarious position to manage it.

How does this woman know it was your cat? And YANBU by the way, the woman sounds like a loon.

TwigorTreat · 12/10/2007 19:40

this is not me before anyone gets suspicious

TwigorTreat · 12/10/2007 19:41

no feckin' way a cat has gone into another cat's territory and had a wee .. absolutely not .. unless it is Jean-Claude Van Cat of course

StrawberryMartini · 12/10/2007 19:41

I'm horrified. That's physical abuse. I'd call the police too.

ThisIsSabrinaPleaseDoNotScare · 12/10/2007 19:43

The cat issue aside, she had no right to physically manhandle your children.

Moondog, are you ok this evening. That's not like you! Talking Tots not been getting on your nerves again have they?

DrNortherner · 12/10/2007 19:44

Only a loon would scream at a cat owner cause teh cat widdled in their helmet.

Cats do what tehy want, what are you supposed to do? Talk to the cat or ground it or something?

She over reacted big style imo.

MInd you I guess she'll need a new helmet now cause it will stink..........

peskipixie · 12/10/2007 19:45

even if you dont have her prosecuted i would phone police and scare her into thinking she will be so it doesnt happen again. who gives a toss if the cat peed in her helmet? she assaulted your dd, thats the issue now

KathH · 12/10/2007 19:45

Thanks for your messages! Am thinking of either going across the road & punching her or secretly training cat to sh*t in it next time.

Also, coming and man hnadling your dd is a pointless excercise, given that you cannot stop a cat from pissing in a helmwt, should he or she so wish.

She sounds unhinged

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 12/10/2007 19:48

Kath, seriously, call the police. She has practically assaulted your child. If she is that much of a loon, she needs to realise what she did was wrong. The police would not take kindly to this.

True enoguh, she would probably only get a talking to, but she needs to realise, plus your DD needs to know you will not stand for it.

I imagine a ten year old could be pretty scared about a death threat to a cat, whether meant or not.

KathH · 12/10/2007 20:02

I think she meant it - her neighbour told me she came round & asked them if they had a gun

OP posts:
Piffle · 12/10/2007 20:04

I'd have shut the f up and got the cat sometime, no way would I have manhandled your kids
But I would so would get the cat
And I'm a cat liker...
