So Upset. Stolen Cat.

Hermes driver and her daughter took our cat on Thursday 8th Oct - we have witnesses.

After turning up every day for months they disappeard, with the cat. A different driver turned up to collet our 'sting'' parcel on Friday. Their job was advertised on Indeed the next day.

I know the girl is a teenager, not in school, called Izzy. I have the van reg. no. It's a 59 reg silver/blue transit.

Herbie is an old man who has lived here all his life. We took him in last winter when his original owner couldn't look after him anymore.

The police are on it but can't get information about the van nor contact Hermes.

AIBU to be so upset? I can usually cope with life's dificulties but his gentle, innocent soul must be so distressed and it's hurting.

Please, if anyone knows the driver and/or daughter, let me know where to get Herbie back so he can spend his last days in the home he knows.

So Upset. Stolen Cat.

Oh no, this sounds absolutely horrific. I hope Herbie is found very soon.

thegcatsmother · 14/10/2020 22:23

Is he chipped and registered to you? Might be worth a call to the local vets and shelters to alert them.

I am sorry....he looks so lovely. I hope the police get to the bottom of it and you get him back.

The police will be able to trace the van.

tararabumdeay · 14/10/2020 22:24

Thank you Flippin. I don't think I've cried so much about anything.

They have a Twitter. Put it on there. Did the other driver say why they had swapped?

TheShepherdsCrown · 14/10/2020 22:25

Maybe worth tweeting Hermes including pics etc. Companies seem to respond to twitter comments more quickly than phone calls and emails.

JacobReesMogadishu · 14/10/2020 22:26

You need to get tweeting the hell out of Hermes and plaster this all over local Facebook groups. Where in the country?

AuntieJoyce · 14/10/2020 22:26

A private detective will also be able to trace the van. I hope you get your lovely cat back soon.

DeliciouslyFemale · 14/10/2020 22:27

Sorry, I missed the bit about the job advertisement. I bet the silly fuckers have assumed your cat is ill, rather than old. Hopefully they’ll take him to a vet and realise their mistake, then return him.

JacobReesMogadishu · 14/10/2020 22:27

How come the police can’t get info about the van? Is it not correctly registered?

decoraters · 14/10/2020 22:28

You had a Hermes delivery every day for months then the delivery person stole your cat and quit their job?

JacobReesMogadishu · 14/10/2020 22:29

Do you think Hermes have sacked the driver? Find your local Hermes depot and drive there tomorrow and refuse to leave!

TheLoveOfMoney · 14/10/2020 22:30

My heart goes out to you, I can only imagine your distress.

Just playing devils advocate here but could they have thought he was homeless? Sometimes older cats can look a bit raggedy and I've known people think them I'll when they are perfectly loved and cared for.

I pray you get him back Flowers

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 14/10/2020 22:30

If hes chipped flag him as stolen with the chip company so if hes taken to any vets and scanned he won’t be released.

tararabumdeay · 14/10/2020 22:31

thegcatsmother - yes he is chipped and registered to us. We've spoken to the vet but he's been taken by irrational people so the vets don't have any information.

I was just hoping that someone would recognise the details. I don't mind outing myself for this reason. The driver's round covered Oswestry, Shropshire.

Someone did something similar to me some years ago. Mother and son decided that our cat, was their cat that they had "lost" previously and that I had taken their cat!
It, of course, was not their cat as we had had Stanley from a very young kitten, Stanley attacked them escaped and ran home, Mother and son pursued him and battered on my door as he ran through the cat flap!
I made them grovel, after suggesting they go to the local vet to see how long the cat had been registered there!
I sincerely hope you get your cat back OP, poor thing he must be rally confused.

Zoecarter · 14/10/2020 22:35

Your probably best with local Facebook groups you haven’t
Even said where your from

KittyConCarne · 14/10/2020 22:36

Sounds awful op, my heart goes out to you.
Is there any possibility there's been a mix-up with the ownership?
You mention you took the cat in last winter when the original owner couldn't look after him anymore.
Is there any chance the Hermes pair knew the old owner distantly/ thought cat had been abandoned last winter/ weren't aware you are the new owner?

Throckmorton · 14/10/2020 22:37

Email address of the Hermes CEO - gets pretty quick responses:

[email protected]

I hope you get your cat back soon!

tararabumdeay · 14/10/2020 22:37

The Police investigation bureau have traced the van to a company that do not answer the phone.

Hermes do not answer the phone.

Yes Hermes turned up with a parcel for people in the quiet, rural cul-de-sac of 20 houses most days. All the neighbours knew him. He never went far.
Yes he does look like a scraggy stray and liked to sit outside watching the world go by.

You're really unlikely to get any info on here, especially as you didnt include your area in the OP.

Get onto facebook and twitter. Post the footage you have.

tararabumdeay · 14/10/2020 22:38

Thank you for the email address of the Hermes CEO. Thank you. I'm going to follow that up immediately.

I really hope it helps. Pass it to the police as well as it may help them pursue this too

GlitterToast · 14/10/2020 22:40

Op,

In the nicest way possible, you have jumped to a LOT of specific conclusions.

I think you need to take a step back and review everything.
