I do I do and the reason is plain and simple. I know people I work with that use this site and I don't want them to suspect who I am.

I bet most of you have several usernames for the same reasons right?

Not bad, Greeny. Not bad at all, actually. The LordofMisrule ...

Pan · 15/10/2007 00:47

[dim emocion as he doesn't understand the clever references....]

Pan · 15/10/2007 00:50

which I shall take to my dreams with me! Night.

TheEvilDediderata · 15/10/2007 00:53

Good night, gorgeous.

Google Lord of Misrule in the morning. It does rather suit, you know

Pan · 15/10/2007 00:55

Wiil do it RIGHT NOW.

Pan · 15/10/2007 01:03

"The Lord of Misrule, known in Scotland as the Abbot of Unreason, was a person appointed at Christmas to preside over the Feast of Fools: revelries traditionally including drunkenness, feasting and partying.

Whilst largely seen as a British custom, the Lord of Misrule dates back to the Greek and Roman festival of Saturnalia during which the world would be set on its head: men dressing up as women, masters dressing up as servants, houses decked with evergreens, candles - always a sign of hope and life - warmly lit, brightly coloured processions filling the towns, and presents being willingly exchanged. The Lord of Misrule held court over all of this and had the power to command anyone to do anything he wished during the festive shenanigans.

Kewl.

You see? Greeny's no slouch .. and I don't make a half bad second in command

SaintJude · 15/10/2007 02:35

I change my name here and there. Just for fun. I dont hide who I am.

If I'm going to post something about myself (rare) I'll post it in my own name. Usually, I just dont post personal stuff.

I namechanged for personal stuff once, and fucked it up so I dont bother . Mind you, I made some good friends because of it. One of those is to be my matron of honour next month

Yes, I really am up this late.

SatanGeorge · 15/10/2007 02:40

I'm up late too

And I'm 'aving that sainthood back after Halloween

susiecutie · 15/10/2007 03:04

I havnt name changed, am quite new though. I do wish i had done though for some really personal stuff i recently posted. A i do know a couple of people on her in RL. they are pretty much aware of the personal stuff, but not in so much detail. I didnt think of them reading it at the time i posted it.

I also just wanted to help the OP on the thread as they were really going through some terrible stuff that i could relate too.. I wish there was some way i could go back and change my name on that thread.. anyone know if you can??

its not the end of the world, as i say, people in RL do know... but well, i'm sure you get what i'm trying to say!

I think in future, I will but only for THAT kind of thing.

SatanGeorge is a brilliant name! Fabulous.

SatanGeorge · 15/10/2007 16:14

Why thank you.

I like lazy name changes. Just a quick anagram and I have Christmas sorted too

fullmoonfiend · 15/10/2007 16:38

I keep thinking of my fave joke....about the dyslexic devil-worshipper...

.... who sold his soul to Santa!

pointydog · 15/10/2007 16:44

SatanGeorge just makes the devil sound so damn... personable

SatanGeorge · 15/10/2007 16:49

I name change every once and a while . I doubt anyone would find me but if they did I have talked about salary on here and a few other personal details that I wouldn’t want someone to know.

Addicted2Kale · 28/07/2022 14:26

No. That is odd and quite a faff.

ZOMBIE THREAD

Chasingsquirrels · 28/07/2022 17:35

Indeed a ZOMBIE THREAD but popped up on my "threads I'm on" as I posted on it in 2007!

I wonder how many of those 2007 posters are still here under the same username?

BeanieTeen · 28/07/2022 17:50

I do fairly regularly, probably just due to paranoia. I think if you put everything I’ve written together you could maybe figure out my identity - and I’m a very private person. Not sure why anyone would, like I say it’s not really rational 😂

fiercelion · 28/07/2022 17:57

but if you change your name... can people read your old threads under old name?

JimTheShit · 28/07/2022 18:48

I change regularly enough aleven though I don’t know anyone who uses (or admits to using) mumsnet.
