I do I do and the reason is plain and simple. I know people I work with that use this site and I don't want them to suspect who I am.

I bet most of you have several usernames for the same reasons right?

I've only used one name here except for two joke names I used for a night.

I don't have names to hide what I want to say. I think that's bollocks. I have no problem saying what I feel or nothing at all under my 'real' name.

2hot2care · 12/10/2007 22:42

oh right.

actually not controversial. im just not following the herd.

ok. sorry

lissiethevampireslayer · 13/10/2007 12:23

i see nothing wrong with having a TMI name. we reveal a lot about ourselves on here and i think we should keep some things, if not private, then at least less traceable.

duchesse · 13/10/2007 12:39

I have an alter ego for times when I want to post stuff I wouldn't want to upset people (ie my husband) with. I can't see a problem with it- sometimes we all need to discuss something on a more private level; usually these are things we couldn't discuss with RL friends as they are too either too personal or need a more detached view than a friend can provide.

lissiethevampireslayer · 13/10/2007 12:51

duchesse has said what i wanted to much better. just before my ep i started a thread moaning about dh's lack of enthusiasm about the fact that i was pg and that he wouldnt come to a scan with me. understandably he got v upset when he saw it, because i was discussing something v personal and making him look like a nob-jockey over the internet. my SiL wanders on here occaisionally, as do a few of my rl friends and there are some things that i just dont want people to know about me if they can put a face to the name (so to speak)

fullmoonfiend · 13/10/2007 12:53

I have used lots of names - some for jokes (like Pluckingontheoldfanjo!) and some for really personal stuff because I am known in RL. I don't see what the problem is, I would never change for malicious purpose and I'm sure the vast majority of others don't either.
I have 2 regular user names and whichever one I use, people seem to know it's me.

Alsoembarrassed · 13/10/2007 14:44

Well, I change to this when I want to post about things that aren't particularly complimentary to DH's bedroom technique (see the Oral Sex thread for the gruesome details...) - largely because an MNer who goes to my church knows who I am on here!!

lissiethevampireslayer · 13/10/2007 14:46

lol, that could be nasty

helenhismadwife · 14/10/2007 10:11

I dont name change and use the same name here as I do on other forums Im to lazy to change and would probably get it wrong if I tried to

Pan · 14/10/2007 10:32

Nope. I have been various idenetifiable incarnations of "Pan" since registering....did change once to "46yoProff.." or something like it for a spoof scene with another MNer who remains unknown to me...and what did happen to "Amanda"'s lustful ravagings romantic entwinings with her 'Big' last Christmas time. Anyone know?

fullmoonfiend · 14/10/2007 11:12

Hi Pan, there was a thread asking this recently but I can't remember. I have a vague memory of wedding bells in the air though...

Emzy5 · 14/10/2007 11:53

i don't change my name but not for any reason.

just an aside...

i always call my son chunky monkey and the other day accidentally called him hunker munker. i couldn't remember where it came from either!

wideload · 14/10/2007 16:52

Pan, they live together and are getting married next year.

Lulumama · 14/10/2007 17:27

have never namechanged

there is a difference between name changing for fun, and for malicious purposes

oh, i was lululunaticmama for halloween last year, but not for long as felt like a divvy posting serious stuff as a lunatic!

Alethiometer · 14/10/2007 17:29

I namechange on a very regular basis.
But not for any reason other than I have the attention span of a gnat, and get bored very easily.
I always say who I realy am, if anyone asks/is vaguely interested.
Lulumama often detects who I am.

lissiethevampireslayer · 14/10/2007 17:36

who are you then? ruby?

you have to tell now!

MrsTittleMouse · 14/10/2007 17:46

I don't name change, but I don't have a page as I do post personal stuff (more guff about my perineum anyone? - no No NO shouts everyone else).
Does anyone really search through posts to get clues on the off chance that they might know someone in RL? There are so many of us on here! Surely no-one is that sad?

Pan · 15/10/2007 00:24

Thanks wideload!..good for them! An MN-dissected romance working out! Hurray!!

TheEvilDediderata · 15/10/2007 00:37

I think you ought to be Pandemonium for Halloween ....

Pan · 15/10/2007 00:40

Sweetie! [I know that guise..]...you fine? I've had a lovely weekend.

Greensleeves · 15/10/2007 00:41

No, I think he should be the LordOfMisrule - I know it doen't actually contain 'pan', but I think we would all know who it was really
