Dm has come down with what we are hoping is a cough and cold virus. We are awaiting tests results for her. Has anyone had a cough and it not been the virus?

Yes, I've currently got a terrible cough which is the result of a viral chest infection. Not always Covid although it's easy to jump straight to that. Hope your DM is ok Thanks

User4647 · 06/10/2020 19:01

Thank you hope you feel better soon.

Yes almost my whole family and at least 6 kids in DC class who had to wait to get back to school until negative test 😂
Coughs and colds are here like every winter- the govt didn't factor this in to testing advice or volumes.

MiL scared the life out of us a couple of weeks ago by developing a high temp and a cough (she is shielding). It was a virus (not cv) and she was better within a week. Try not to worry too much until you need to.

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 06/10/2020 19:08

Yea. People have been getting coughs for thousands of years and it waant covid19. You can get a cough without it being covid. Still need to get tested but you dont need to immediately panic.

omg35 · 06/10/2020 19:08

Yes, my daughter has a nasty cough but the test was negative

Amijustagrump · 06/10/2020 19:10

Yep! We both have coughs but tested negative. I got it from one of my students at work!

vodkaredbullgirl · 06/10/2020 19:11

Yes I got a cough but it is smoking related. Get tested weekly because of my job.

soontobeanana · 06/10/2020 19:11

Yes - my husband had a terrible cough and a temperature of 40 degrees - he had pneumonia, negative covid test.

AstridAv · 06/10/2020 19:13

Yes my whole family. Just a cold.. tested negative

anon2334 · 06/10/2020 19:13

Yep I’m fact before Covid one year , last year actually both myself and my son got a coughs and even fevers. My son has a terrible cough and fever and was chest infection. In fact I’m pretty sure in the past and centuries gone by that humanity has always had coughs and from a wide range of different viral infections.

chipsandgin · 06/10/2020 19:14

Currently less than 2.5% of tests are positive & most people I know who’ve had them have predominantly had them because of a new persistent cough (because of schools not allowing staff or pupils to attend with one).

ZSquid · 06/10/2020 19:15

Yep. My husband has had four, and my son has had two.

trinity0097 · 06/10/2020 19:15

Loads of kids at school had a cough and negative and also a couple of teachers too.

Sewrainbow · 06/10/2020 19:16

Me

HelplessProcrastinator · 06/10/2020 19:16

Yes loads of people including me and DH. Lots of coughs doing the rounds at school and the hospital I work at. Still very low COVID rates round here so coughs as just the old fashioned cold kind.

HUCKMUCK · 06/10/2020 19:16

DDs flatmate has had a cough for about a week now. She was tested on the second day and it was negative. No other symptoms, not even a cold.

LakieLady · 06/10/2020 19:17

I've got a cough and a temperature. My Covid test was delivered this afternoon, but too late for me to get it done and for Mr L to drop it at the priority letter box before the deadline, so I'll do it tomorrow.

We think we had Covid in March though (similar symptoms, but worse and my sense of smell disappeared for weeks) so I'm not expecting a positive result.

DaphneFanshaw · 06/10/2020 19:19

My ds did. He was sent home from school with a temperature and a cough a few weeks ago.
We didn’t send him in with a cough, it just developed over the day.
Same for a colleague and several students.
I work in a sChool environment and we’ve seen lots of negative results.

DazedandConcerned · 06/10/2020 19:19

Me - ended up being asthma and chest infection

DH - run of the mill cold. He's still barking like a dog in my ear all night Sad

GameSetMatch · 06/10/2020 19:21

Yes my youngest had a terrible cough and cold, the cough was post nasal drip.

CodenameVillanelle · 06/10/2020 19:22

Yep! Cold that developed into a cough, negative test.

BohemianDream · 06/10/2020 19:22

Of course.

drspouse · 06/10/2020 19:23

DS once and me once.

Emeraldshamrock · 06/10/2020 19:23

I am recovering from a chest viral infection not covid it has been a bad one.
DS is still chesty 10 days later.
