I HATE my cylinder vacuum cleaner. It does a good job but I hate cylinderd for several reasons. Bought in a moment of madness 15 years ago.

Can't afford to replace just for the sake of it.

What are you putting up with until it breaks down?

Definitely kettle & toaster. The kettle would be fine if I could be bothered to clean it. The toaster’s numbers have faded but it works ok. I keep seeing super duper sets.

I hate my fridge freezer! It's a Liebherr we bought seven years ago as they are supposed to be indestructible. The thermostat broke on it three years ago and DH insisted we get it fixed since it was an expensive fridge. The drain at the back of it clogs up every couple of weeks it starts spilling water everywhere- I've never had any other fridge do that. Only way to unclog it that seems to work is shoving bicarb in and following up with vinegar. It's so bloody fiddly.

I would really like an American fridge freezer (with cold water and ice dispenser) but our old house didn't have the space so we got the regular width. We moved five years ago and there was a space for an American fridge freezer (with plumbing) in which we have shoved the other fridge so there's a big empty space.

My kitchen is annoying- the layout is terrible and there's hardly any storage space or nice stretch of worktop despite it being a decent size. I've had it five years now and we're planning to replace in a couple more years- can't wait!

mam0918 · 06/10/2020 17:50

our fridge broke a year ago but its just one part of one of those big multipart fridges and the freezer sections still work, we borrowed a small counter top fridge and have been using that

really we need a new one but its a lot of money (when we could spend that on better and more exciting things) and even more so than that a whole lot of hassle (to get it out the house and get a new one in, it has to pivot round a very small area + I dont even know how it will fit through the two doorways + we all have some type of disability to lifting something that big someone is bound to get hurt)

Selmaselma · 06/10/2020 17:52

My flimsy and noisy stand mixer. Every time I use it I can't believe that it is still working.

The80sweregreat · 06/10/2020 20:20

A dishwasher that sounds like a classic Carly Simon hit sounds great!
My washer is 4 years old now and so noisy and the inner seal always needs cleaning these days and I keep forgetting to buy Calgon or a washing machine cleaner for it! It annoys me so much.
I cba to look for a new one yet but the noise it makes is annoying and clunky.
Dh discovered how to get rid of the machine beeping at us all the time by looking on line and I only ever use two settings! I'm a lazy washer really and I hate getting it all dry. My tumble dryer is 20 years old and still going strong though ( but I don't use it much to be fair as it's in the garage and it's a faff going in and out .. )
I hate washing so much!
My kettle is also doing well which is amazing as I've been married 31 years and got through about 9 or 10 kettles in that time. Hard water area.
My £8 toaster from a tesco is also doing well and that is also quiet old now.

gurteee · 06/10/2020 20:24

@notso

I'll never tell anyone in RL but hate my integrated fridge freezer. Its only 18 months old so with us for a long time yet. It's not big enough, is only low frost not frost free, it's easy to leave the door open, the door gets smeary and breaks my nails and it's noisy. I apologise to my old freestanding one for relegating it to the garage when it's clearly superior. I keep my favourite foods in there as a peace offering.
Oh I feel your pain!!!! 😝😝

BringPizza · 06/10/2020 20:30

The dishwasher. It's integrated and came with the new kitchen a couple of years ago BUT I didn't spec one with a 1 hr daily cycle (wrongly assumed they all had one) so it takes 2 and a half hours to do a wash Angry

CeibaTree · 06/10/2020 20:33

Our Henry hoover, I hate it so much. It gets stuck on every possible obstacle no matter how small and topples over a lot 😭

redvest · 06/10/2020 20:36

20 year old tumble dryer. It creeks and wheezes away everytime we turn it on but the bastard keeps drying clothes

MovingOn123 · 06/10/2020 20:45

Miele sensor tumble dryer. I usually buy Hotpoint, cheap as chips, and replace every 3 years. Don't know why I thought this was a good idea. Everything ends up damp so I have to run the 30mins extra cycle. I end up over drying the clothes and use more energy in the process. And it will last for bloody ever.

Tiredforfive45 · 06/10/2020 20:52

Kettle. The button won’t stay down on its own, it has to be pushed continuously until it boils. Longest 2 minutes ever when waiting to make a brew.

It’s pretty and it matches the toaster though so for now, it stays!

williowrosenburg · 06/10/2020 20:55

Our entire kitchen!
Disliked it when we moved in 5 years ago but it wasn't that old and we didn't have loads of money. But now hate it.
Not enough cupboards ... massive rangemaster cooker and American fridge that takes up far to much room!
But we are hoping to extend next year and get it done then!

AgentJohnson · 06/10/2020 21:05

Samsung make some good looking appliances and that’s what sucks me in every time. Currently putting up with a combi microwave that barely gets above 200 centigrade but eyeing up combi steam ovens but they don’t seem to go above 230 centigrade, grrrr!

My second hand Miele washing machine died last summer (gawd rest her soul) and boy do I miss those 30 minute washes. Replaced by an AEG washer drier that insists it will do a wash in an hour but takes two! Oh and I have used the drier less than 10 times in the 14 months we’ve had it. I tolerate it because it washes really well and takes a massive 9 kg load so I run the thing less often.

I’m on a roll, bought a window vac thingy but it’s not worth the hassle but love the steam cleaner by the same brand though.

Wontonhope · 06/10/2020 21:38

The dyson ball I thought would be the best hoover ever. It’s not. I hate it’s guts and wish it a fiery afterlife in hell once it eventually dies. It’s heavy, doesn’t pick anything up, gets blocked for no reason, oh the list is endless!!!

keeprocking · 06/10/2020 21:47

Your vacuum cleaner is still going strong after 15 years? What make is that I’ve never had a one pick up for that long.

I have a Morphy Richards PremAir 1700 vacuum cleaner that must be at least 20 years old and it's so powerful! I used it to clean the car last week after my never-ending trips to the tip with garden rubbish, it was marvellous, actually lifted up the boot carpets. Normally it's used upstairs, far better at picking up than the rotary brush.

Not now but I have decided I hate dishwashers, they are great in theory but don't work for me (I don't mean a specific one just in general)

Can I ask why? My DP hates the dishwasher too and refuses to use it, it baffles me.

Frostiesfortea · 06/10/2020 22:28

@BessieSurtees - my mum has had the same Sebo Vacuum for about 20 years. I have a Sebo also which is probably 9 years old now.

hoxtonbabe · 06/10/2020 22:42

This thread has me chuckling.

I need a new hoover, I have a hoover cordless one that has already died after 2 years (well cuts out after 4 minutes) and it’s not terrible but not great either.

The Miele one will be out of my price range and everyone is saying Dyson is pants so wondering what ones are good that don’t cost a months rent.

Reading some of these replies, I didn’t know washing machines came without the 30min wash function, even my ye olde Candy one about 15 years ago had a quick 30 min wash.

Whatever you do don’t buy kenwood! Blooming useless. I have a kenwood dishwasher that washes well enough but the soap dispenser but no longer shuts ( after just over a year ) so I have to Chuck the tablet in from the start. I also have a kenwood double oven, it’s s good size but you can’t see nowt in the window which for me is kind of a necessity given I bake cakes and the bottom part inside is peeling, again this is also just over a year so I’ve been eyeing up a neff one that will take me a year to save up for then probably go out of production, lol

BlackeyedSusan · 06/10/2020 22:51

about four years of limping along with a hotpoint fridge freezer that did not work if the top drawer of the freezer was used. the inside of the fridge hit 22 degrees over the summer. and it sounded like a fecking tractor. bastard is now in neighbours gargae waiting to be collected in another ten days then it will be gone gone gone.
my miele cylinder vaccum only works intermittently. nowt wrong with the vacuum, just the user who hates hoovering.

BGDino · 07/10/2020 07:10

My extractor fan. Does not vent outdoors as body corporate won’t allow it, so does sweet FA. We resort to turning on the extractor fan in the adjoining laundry (which does vent outside) when we cook.

MadauntofA · 07/10/2020 07:16

Bathroom fan - doesn't extract anything, just drips cold water on to your head when you are sat on the toilet Angry

lollipoprainbow · 07/10/2020 07:24

My washing machine, it's old but it still just about works, would love a new one.

Isteamagoodham · 07/10/2020 07:30

Joining the vacuum trend... ....one of those cordless bagless upright hoovers.

It doesn't get into any awkward spots and it won't pick up anything larger than a minute speck of dust. Seriously, I can't even get it to pick up crumbs. It just pushes them around.

I've ended up with a system where I sweep dust etc into a pile, then use the hoover to ineffectively pick up the pile.

So basically, I've bought an expensive, electrical dustpan and brush... ...not even an effective one. Tbh, I often leave the hoover these days and just use a regular dustpan and brush along with my broom as I don't have carpets.

BameChange123 · 07/10/2020 07:32

A rusting gas boiler which doesn't always switch on and it's evil sidekick, the slowly leaking water tank. The non-revolving microwave, the magimix with a broken "off" switch, the worn out stairs carpet, the eroded marmoleum kitchen flooring and the carp whirlpool oven that won't get over 200c.Clearly need a refurb!

BameChange123 · 07/10/2020 07:33

Have a lovely cordless Dyson though!
