I HATE my cylinder vacuum cleaner. It does a good job but I hate cylinderd for several reasons. Bought in a moment of madness 15 years ago.

Can't afford to replace just for the sake of it.

What are you putting up with until it breaks down?

My tumble dryer. After we had an extension we couldn’t vent it outside. So I have the darn vent pipe is inside. Yes, I could get a condensor dryer but they don’t last and what a waste of money. Gah!

I have a Bosch condenser dryer. It dries very well. The bloomin thing is 12 years old and looks it but it will not break down for love nor money. When I does I won’t replace it as the kids are big now so don’t wash as often as when they were younger.

Everything here! In temporary rental and the appliances are mostly old stuff that belonged to me or dp but had been replaced! Once we get a new house I'm going shopping! Any suggestions of a decent vacuum ladies - not too heavy as it's a town house with lots of stairs. Hated my old dyson and Henry is good but heavy

movingonup20 · 06/10/2020 08:35

@BlodwynBludd

Don't think I've ever cleaned my grill Blush. (Cleaned the pan obviously)

PlanDeRaccordement · 06/10/2020 08:39

I am not fond of my gas hob and the feeling must be mutual. The igniter only works for DH and the repair man, never for me, so everyone thinks I am imagining the problems. So I have a lighter I use to light the gas rings. Then if one is turned down low to simmer, I have to sit in kitchen and watch it because sometimes it will turn itself off.

My condenser dryer is almost 17 years old and I never imagined it would last this long when I got it when DS was a new born. I think it’s because it’s fairly simple/useless.

It only has 2 heat settings - high and low. The high setting is hotter than Hades underpants and I can only really use it for towels that are part dried already. The low setting is more like an airing cupboard.

I keep thinking I should replace it but it’s become a challenge to see how long it will last.

I broke up with my toaster the other day. I just wasn't putting up with his crap any more. Didn't toast properly, underachieving crumb tray and other issues. I chucked him out and bought a new better one on argos same day delivery. I felt very empowered.

MoonJelly · 06/10/2020 08:48

A dyson, we bought one once and it was rubbish and said never again, we got given one again a couple of years ago and they are still shit. It's gathering dust and we use a manual carpet sweeper just like grandma had, it's more efficient and effective.

We had an utterly useless Dyson: we spent more time unblocking it that actually using it. We didn't wait for it to break down, we just replaced it anyway.

Wexone · 06/10/2020 08:52

@movingonup20 would highly recommend a miele. powerful sunction, excellent for dogs. Not to heavy - i have a long bungalow so am dragging it around from one end of the house to another with no hassle. MIL has a henry i hate it not as poweful as a miele. Have a dyosn however i only use it for a quick run around to celan one room or if vsitors are coming

Treaclepie19 · 06/10/2020 08:55

Dishwasher. We've had it for about 8 years and it was DHs brothers before that. I want a shiny new one but while it still works it's too wasteful.
We did finally replace our fridge freezer after it became a hazard with all the broken drawers.

If your toaster harasses you and wants to worm its way back in stay strong! Those buggers will promise you the earth until they get their metal carcasses back on your kitchen counter!

I have recently bought a Shark vacuum, it was the expensive pet version too so I know I am going to have to put up with it for a long time. But I hated it almost straight away, it is really heavy, the attachments are hard to unattach, it constantly gets clogged up and we have to pull it apart and use various implements to unblock it.

I also don’t like my microwave, because it is big and ugly, fortunately it has started playing up a bit and it is hard to set the timer, so maybe I can replace that soon, it must be about 12 years old.

JaceLancs · 06/10/2020 09:18

Cooker - it works although timer is broken but it’s very ancient
Saving for new kitchen so will get replaced in next 2 years

Sexnotgender · 06/10/2020 13:07

My dishwasher- DH chose it, it’s a raging pile of shit. Unfortunately it’s only 2 years old.

I hated my oven so bought a new one. I can put up with my 3 hour cycle dishwasher but my shitty double oven that is no use to man nor beast got heaved out.

HerRoyalNotness · 06/10/2020 13:12

The microwave. The only button that now works is the 30 sec one. If we open the door before it’s finished we have to un plug it to reset. It’s built in and we wanted to redo the kitchen so I don’t want to buy one until we work out what we are doing or if we can still afford to (no)

Thurmanmurman · 06/10/2020 13:12

My shark steam mop. it's dogshit, nowhere near as good as the cheaper Vax one I bought from B &M previously!

nettytree · 06/10/2020 13:27

A slimline drinks chiller. It was built into the kitchen when we moved in. It's so noisy and doesn't chill. So it's now switched off. Can't remove it as its built in next to the dishwasher.

Frazzled13 · 06/10/2020 13:32

Our ridiculously loud washing machine.

Dishwasher isn’t that effective either

billy1966 · 06/10/2020 13:35

@polkadotpixie

I hate my condenser washer-dryer. I only have it because it came with the house (new build) and there's no room for a separate dryer but it's absolutely shit, just steams the clothes to death rather than actually drying them
Have you tried throwing in a large fluffy towel to absorb the steam? Apparently it helps.
billy1966 · 06/10/2020 13:39

A built in fridge freezer which holds beer and condiments but never got things cold enough.
I have a large fridge in the utility so just got on with it and ignored the fact I should change it 'cos the freezer works well.
After 20 years of it not being cold enough it has suddenly started to work, is much quieter and works...no idea why, but hope it lasts.🙏
Wouldn't buy another dyson, they batteries don't last.

Saladd0dger · 06/10/2020 13:43

My fridge freezer! The bottom of the fridge is full of ice where water is leaking in it. I have to keep chipping it away to get the door closed. Been waiting to move for so long I don’t want to risk buying a new one and finally getting a move

ElsieMc · 06/10/2020 13:45

Our samsung ecobubble broke down at the start of lock down. Major costly fault so decided to buy from AO. All good, arrived quickly, nice guys delivering.

Five months later it has an intermittent fault. It doesnt drain, leaves clothes soaking wet probably 2-3 times per week. Checked everything but have a policy I pay monthly for AO sold me (pushed me).

Rang and no, it doesnt cover any washers under 12 months old! Why issue policies to be paid for then. They have taken money from me for five months. Its little things like this that spoil a company. I think its because staff are pressurised to sell because the staff member involved turned grumpy when I initially said I didn't want the policy. Should have listened to my gut instinct.

Washer is a hotpoint, not an expensive model but really I expected more than five months. So pissed off. Apparently you have to allow them 4 chances to repair. So I am putting up with another duff washer.

AutumnleavesturntoGold · 06/10/2020 13:48

love bosh products usually but our dishwasher is awful, barely cleans, plates stink needs tons of dishwasher salt..

partystress · 06/10/2020 13:49

Useless effing Dyson here. Nearly £500 and it won’t suck anything up unless it’s on high power, and on high power the battery lasts long enough to do about one room and the stairs. And it’s heavy. And some of the attachments don’t fit properly so I do my sodding back in trying to prise them off. And the dust bucket thing fills up stupidly quickly if you have animals, but it’s called the Dyson Animal FFS.

Hate it.

MiddlesexGirl · 06/10/2020 13:51

The cooker. The model I have has a combined oven/grill which means the grill is useless and inconvenient. The new version has a separate grill compartment .....

MiddlesexGirl · 06/10/2020 13:52

I did like my Dysons though. Only problem is they don't last long. Have a Vax now.
