Just found out that Billie Piper doesn't share social/political views as her ex H

I just assumed that she shared similar views as that silly man. I am not sure what attracted her to him; she seems pretty level headed and clued up.

I googled her as I saw a movie featuring her and I wanted to watch it but wouldn't have watched it if she was anything like that Lawrence/Laurence, or whatever he's called. I really dislike the man and his face, and unfairly, I had lumbered Bilie with him despite them being separated.

But I can't imagine marrying and having kids with someone who is on a completely different wavelength on such important issues.

I guess there's no aibu but had me reflect if he was always like this/only become like what he is after the divorce.

I would hate to parent with someone with views like him. I would be worried what he's teaching my children all types of intolerance. Plus he's just not very bright.

For many decades. The woman who started it was cancelled for transphobia.

So maybe Lawrence opinions are as valid as hers.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 04/10/2020 19:05

For those of you praising Sainsbury’s might be worth noting that one of their major shareholders is the Qatari government. The one that is treating workers as slaves To get stadiums built for the World Cup.

AuntMasha · 04/10/2020 19:05

Oh dear, Lofo has just called someone who disagreed with him a paedophile on Twatter.

CorinaB · 04/10/2020 19:06

I don't consider myself 'woke' or a 'lefty' but i think some people are massively missing the point, when it comes to racism in today's society.

I don't think white people should be 'flogging themselves in the streets' as someone commented, but i do think that we should try, as intelligent and hopefully compassionate human beings, to appreciate the fact that Black people have been treated in a disgustingly inhumane way throughout modern history.

Try to imagine your ancestors being kidnapped from their homes, taken across the sea to a foreign country, not knowing the language or culture and being worked literally to death, being treated as a commodity, inspected like cattle and sold in markets like a piece of meat!

Yes this happened a long time ago, but the legacy of this treatment lasts to this day.

Black people, particularly in the United States can still be brutalised and sometimes murdered by the authorities, thrown into prison for minor misdemeanors sometimes for the rest of their lives, made to work for free whilst incarcerated, attacked and murdered if they happen to wander into the wrong neighborhood. It seems the only time this is highlighted or anything is done about it is when people take to the streets.

Then, they have to see statues and monuments of slave traders and owners, being displayed like they are something to be proud of....Oh because they did so much for our town, our hospital, our school etc.

I honestly don't think the majority of white people give this a second thought, because to them 'it is not their history' and they feel this is not their fight, which is fine.

However, when their are others who do give a shit about this and want to see true equality please don't denigrate them by calling them pathetic names. I for one am just glad Black people are only looking for equality and not revenge for their treatment.

Heres’s me
To be fair she probably just said that people with penises weren’t women...

Smileyaxolotl1 · 04/10/2020 19:09

auntmasha
Ah - the Elon Musk technique..

HeresMe · 04/10/2020 19:10

To be fair she probably just said that people with penises weren’t women*

I agree but this is problem with candle culture.

Fucket · 04/10/2020 19:11

You see we don’t have to say anything nasty about Laurence, we just need to let him show his own true colours...

HeresMe · 04/10/2020 19:12

The cancel culture and protests are probably too young to realise what happened with the BNP when they were allowed on question time and nick Griffin basically destroyed the movement.

By gagging people it works the opposite way.

AuntMasha · 04/10/2020 19:12

Quite. He’s going to have to hone his debating skills if he intends entering politics.

BoudiccasBoudoir · 04/10/2020 19:13

@HeresMe

Yes we want the idiots to undo themselves not become YouTube martyrs!

Although with both BOJO and trump, seeing politicians behave like clowns has become par for the cause

AuntyPasta · 04/10/2020 19:14

Richard Ayoade is awesome.

We know he has a problem with what LF said because LF helpfully told us.

*’In an interview with The Sunday Times, it has since emerged that Fox begged Ayoade, who is married to his sister Lydia, to support him on social media. Ayoade, who is half-Nigerian, was reportedly furious at this, and told Fox: “You have never encountered racism.”

Fox responded: “Yeah, of course I have. I’ve encountered racism from black people towards me, when I was working in Kenya [as a safari driver] for seven months. It’s the way you’re spoken to — racism can be deferential.”

Asked by the interviewer what he meant by the idea that “racism can be deferential”, Fox answered ”This is why you don’t get actors involved in chats like this. Because I’m just not smart enough to do it.”*’

I always found the genesis of their relationship a bit shit - he was living with another actress he'd met at RADA, but he and BP appeared in a Tom Stoppard play together, and it was apparently love at first sight, and completely unstoppable. Hmmmm. Then there was the 'no kids at the wedding' thing, which apparently caused a family row. I also find her new accent utterly ridiculous - she was a working class girl from Swindon, and sounded like it when she was a pop singer, but now sounds like Celia Johnson in 'Brief Encounter'. Good actress, though. Mostly.
I liked LF in 'Lewis' but he has become insufferable of late, and I now feel inclined to think she probably binned him off. He was weird about her mum when they split, and then performed some songs with his band 🙄 about how much he missed his 'hamster' even though she was a bitch. Loopy.

If he’s going to get a mention he might as well get a plug

Tellmetruth4 · 04/10/2020 19:16

LOL so anyone who disagrees with him is a paedophile now! Hahahah. What a tit. Good luck to him and his new party. Can’t wait to see the cranks who’ll make up the membership.

Roussette · 04/10/2020 19:18

@CorinaB
Excellent post

I think Lozza should have a voice. As long as it isn't singing lol

This is an example of how much big business cares about racism. Jo Malone herself sold the business years ago and is absolutely disgusted.

Exactly. I don't know why people take the views of actors and singers so seriously.
Smileyaxolotl1 · 04/10/2020 19:24

To be fair the person who called Fox a racist and was called a peadophile (it seems that Fox was responding to an unevidenced jibe with one in return) holds a senior post in Stonewall. Fox should have gone with misogynist in return. Plenty of evidence for that.

Stripesnomore · 04/10/2020 19:32

Well Aimee Challenor still has a position at Stonewall, so they’re fairly blasé about paedophilia as well as misogyny.

redastherose · 04/10/2020 19:35

@DioneTheDiabolist

Mr fox is clinging onto his looks He's truly fucked then, he's a face like a slapped weasel.
This is brilliant 😂
NandosPeriometer · 04/10/2020 19:36

I think that Billie's silence on her divorce and her continuing friendship with Chris Evans speaks volumes. I hope she's happy with her current partner Smile

I think that Katie Hopkins' Twitter and TV bans have created a perfect job opening and he's nabbed it in order to make money.

FreshFreesias · 04/10/2020 19:44

Good for him for sticking up for what he believes in.
The prejudice on here is off the scale.

Roussette · 04/10/2020 19:45

What prejudice?

Anyone can 'stick up' for what they believe in.
Doesn't mean to say we have to agree with it

VillageGreenPreservationSoc · 04/10/2020 19:48

How is he being pre-judged? We know his 'beliefs' - he's very vocal about them. So we're in fact post- judging him.
