The man who killed her and pleaded the “rough sex” defence is due to be released after less than 2 years in prison.

This is a further tragedy for her family and tells us a lot about how women are valued.

She deserved better.

This was an incredibly disturbing case - I remember reading about this poor woman and being absolutely horrified at the fact that the "rough sex defence" even existed. I believe it has now been removed as a defence. One small, belated step forward, I guess Sad

Imbc · 03/10/2020 10:36

You’re right, it’s disgusting. That poor woman.

Howlooseisyourgoose · 03/10/2020 10:41

It’s hideous and shows the misogyny in lie criminal justice system. No woman asks for a Toilet Duck to be shoved in her. Sorry for the graphic description but it’s heinous.

I hope the fucker dies.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 03/10/2020 10:44

It’s disgraceful how little time he has served and was sentenced to

He is a wealthy man their are no concerns for him about getting a job or how the sentence will impact his life he can just carry on as before

He has got away with murder and will no doubt harm another women

yesiamyesiamokaycallmeback · 03/10/2020 10:45

how dare he try to justify that? we all know why he was let off
£££

Howlooseisyourgoose · 03/10/2020 10:46

I do remember when the Home Secretary stepped in to stop Venables and Thompson being released at the end of their sentence.

Why is no willing to step in and stop this fucker being released? Do women’s lives matter than children’s?

Igotthemheavyboobs · 03/10/2020 10:48

Disgusting stain on human kind.

MsVestibule · 03/10/2020 11:02

@Howlooseisyourgoose That's because Venables and Thompson were convicted of murder, so were sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 10(?) years. Therefore, in theory, they could have been held in prison for the rest of their lives.

This man was convicted of manslaughter, not murder, so received a fixed sentence. He's allowed out early for good behaviour.

This trial was an absolute disgrace. I remember reading the details at the time and was horrified. Even though he was 'only' convicted of manslaughter, I don't understand why is sentence was so light.

I'd like to say I can't imagine any other women wanting to get involved with him now, but money, good looks and charm go a long way.

MoonJelly · 03/10/2020 11:04

The trouble is that he has only been convicted of manslaughter by gross negligence, so I suspect the Home Secretary has no power to step in if he has met parole conditions.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 03/10/2020 11:05

I remember writing to my MP about this. Absolutely disgusting. Evil fucker!

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 03/10/2020 11:09

This was the outcome of my response from the AG

Natalie Connolly deserved so much more.
Howlooseisyourgoose · 03/10/2020 11:21

Thanks @MsVestibule and @MoonJelly.

Another day, another man goes free.

ssd · 03/10/2020 11:23

Awful. How can they say anyone asks for awful injuries to happen to them. It's beyond awful this was actually allowed to happen.

dottiedodah · 03/10/2020 11:57

This is a truly terrible case .It beggars belief that such a low sentence was passed and even more unbeliveable that he is getting out in less than 2 years! WTAF is going on here!.Her poor family must be completely devastated .A young woman in her prime to meet such a frightful end to her young life!

SmileEachDay · 03/10/2020 12:36

The court records detail her injuries. That he got off with manslaughter by negligence is just..mind blowing. The idea that what he did to her was consensual and then he just failed to get help.

He’ll do it again.

OP posts:
gypsywater · 03/10/2020 12:39

She was discriminated against for being into BDSM, I think. Its appalling. Noone can consent to that level of violence and to their own death. Her killer is an absolute monster. Total miscarriage of justice.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 03/10/2020 12:39

It's absolutely disgusting. I cannot fathom how he is being released?

SmileEachDay · 03/10/2020 12:55

He’s being released because that’s the term for what he was charged with.

Part of the court records attached - the content is upsetting but honestly, I think everyone needs to see it.

OP posts:
gypsywater · 03/10/2020 12:57

I still cannot believe he was convicted of manslaughter by gross negligence. It is nuts. His actions were ACTIVE.

SmileEachDay · 03/10/2020 13:01

Now attached, I think.

This is not “negligence”

Quite. If she had lived, surely he would have been convicted of GBH for the eye socket fracture and the internal injuries? So makes zero sense that the manslaughter verdict was of negligence. Soooo much moral judgement from the jury I am sure. Also if he was a young unemployed bloke from a council estate we all know the verdict would have been VERY different. A travesty.

gypsywater · 03/10/2020 13:15

I also dont believe for a second that she asked him to put the bottle in after fracturing her eye socket. As if. What a load of utter shite.

SmileEachDay · 03/10/2020 13:18

She was extremely intoxicated. I don’t believe she consented to any of it in any meaningful way.

OP posts:
gypsywater · 03/10/2020 13:20

Or indeed consented to much at all. The saddest part is how he just left her at the foot of the stairs. His own girlfriend. Sad How can he live with himself.

Billben · 03/10/2020 13:29

His country house where I’m guessing he’ll be moving back into is 5 minutes from my house.
