The man who killed her and pleaded the “rough sex” defence is due to be released after less than 2 years in prison.

This is a further tragedy for her family and tells us a lot about how women are valued.

She deserved better.

Where did I comment on Natalie's case? I didn't so please do not put words into my mouth

Then fuck off my thread. This is about Natalie Connolly and how she deserved more.

Btw I once went to see the gynaecologist who testified for the defence and got a weird vibe from him (this was over a decade ago) so swiftly found someone else.

During the trial he testified it was entirely possible Natalie had "consented" to a bottle of cleaning fluid being shoved up her vagina. No. A dead woman did not fucking consent to a bottle of cleaning fluid being shoved up her vagina. That didn't happen. The likelihood of any woman ever consenting to that is so infinitesimally small you'd sooner persuade me it's "entirely possible" aliens built the pyramids.

Every time I think about him now I think about his testimony and it makes my blood boil.

PinkiOcelot · 03/10/2020 15:17

If she was my daughter, I’d do time for him myself.

SebastianTheCrab · 03/10/2020 15:21

Sorry, to clarify, from reports of the trial he didn't say it was "entirely possible" she had consented, what he said 'there was no evidence to suggest the bottle was used against her will'.

Amounts to the same fucking thing though.

Er, Natalie's case is the subject of this thread. Her name is in the title. Did you miss that? If you are incapable of addressing the thread's topic maybe you should open a different thread.

Interesting how you've not posted that to others discussing the themes surrounding the case on the thread. But I'll leave you all to it.
PicsInRed · 03/10/2020 15:39

But I'll leave you all to it.

Best do.

sunshinesheila · 03/10/2020 16:43

Awful, poor poor lady and her children. I am horrified to think what kind of place we are bringing our children up to live in

Totickleamockingbird · 03/10/2020 16:50

I would also add that any woman whose 'fantasy' is to have a loaded gun stuck into her vagina, is highly likely to be a traumatised individual who has quite possibly suffered from abuse in the past. Any half decent guy would reply with 'woah, no I don't want to do that to you, no way, that is way too violent for me sorry, I'm out'.
This.

Howlooseisyourgoose · 03/10/2020 17:05

Yep I’m pretty sure @jdoejnr1 is male Hmm

1990s · 03/10/2020 17:09

Look at who the Home Secretary is and that’ll answer your question about them getting involved.

Women are being let down. We must keep raising awareness.

Thesearmsofmine · 03/10/2020 17:28

This case has stayed with me, it’s so shockingly awful and the sentence he was given is an absolute joke. Natalie deserved more.

She was so intoxicated she would be in no fit state to consent but if my some tiny chance she did ask him to do these things, he didn’t have to do them. If someone asked me to do something so violent, I would refuse.

022828MAN · 03/10/2020 17:33

I'd not heard of this case until now. Utterly sickening, vile, tragic. Her poor poor daughter.
Very telling that the expert witness (gynecologist) for the case was male. Cunt.

SmileEachDay · 03/10/2020 19:01

IF someone asked me to do something so violent, I would refuse

Exactly this.

Unfortunately, teen girls increasingly feel they “have” to be cool with extremely violent acts when having sex. It’s not the same issue as the Natalie Connolly case, because I don’t think she consented at all.

It is, however, really important to talk to our children about:

Our girls need to feel ok talking about what they want. Our boys should too - plus they need to know that if a girl asks them to do something that could hurt or kill them, they need to refuse.

But I digress - this thread is about Natalie Connolly.

Shocked at some responses here.

If , in la la land , Natalie did consent to these horrific acts I think we can safely assume she was not in her right mind.

Taking away from the topic for a slight moment , killing someone who wants to die is illegal and rightly so.

So how can anyone justify someone inflicting such horrific dangerous injuries on someone and then leaving them to die as she 'consented '?

Not that I believe she consented for a second.

I am absolutely disgusted at his first sentence never mind this one. And as he knows he got away with it once , what is to stop him doing it again.

Howlooseisyourgoose · 03/10/2020 22:42

I’m trying to think of the nearest parallel. Euthanasia is illegal, you can’t defend yourself saying the person who wanted to die asked for it. The same should apply for dangerous sex acts.

VestaTilley · 03/10/2020 23:45

That bastard should rot in jail.

If the justice system won’t get justice for her, I honestly wouldn’t mind if a vigilante did.

Mammyloveswine · 21/11/2020 11:18

I've just read the case notes after listening to a podcast about this.

How utterly horrific! I also think the reporting didn't ever actually address the horrific injuries inflicted to poor Natalie!

Disgusting he's out soon! I am sickened!

ConcreteUnderpants · 21/11/2020 13:47

This case stuck with me since it first happened.
Truly horrific and yet another rough sex gone bad excuse for murder.
Her poor daughter. Having her poor mother blamed for her own death and having her sexual preferences played out for all to hear.

Misogyny pure and simple.

7Days · 21/11/2020 13:57

Its unfair that women get all the thrills of dangerous sex acts.
If men knew they too could die, or at the very least be imprisoned for life for abusing a woman then they too could experience all the thrills and frisson.

After all, he consented

Unsure33 · 21/11/2020 14:30

Can I ask , as I know nothing about the case , was there evidence she had consented to violent sex before ?

She had taken poppers , cocaine and Alcohol ? She was only 26 ?

I agree the law needs to be changed to prevent cases like this in the future , in fact surely if she was not in a state to consent it would be rape anyway .

It’s just quite hard to get your head round the whole situation.

Gancanny · 21/11/2020 14:46

Can I ask , as I know nothing about the case , was there evidence she had consented to violent sex before

He claimed they enjoyed rough sex together and her twin sister said that Natalie told her he liked to smack her on the bottom with his belt, she showed her the bruises from it. Regardless of what she had consented to in the past, there is a world of difference between consensual spanking and having the shit kicked out of you. There is no possible way she could have consented to the 40+ injuries inflicted on her on the night of her death.

Unsure33 · 21/11/2020 14:53

@Gancanny

No I was not saying it was a defence . I just read the summary of the case and wondered how they came to the conclusion that the eye socket injury and head injury were caused by staggering around drunk and not by him .

It did not seem that he was drunk enough to not realise she needed help , and to just leave her like that , just unimaginable.

At least the law has been changed now.

But I agree the sentence seems wholly inadequate.

Gancanny · 21/11/2020 14:53

It’s just quite hard to get your head round the whole situation.

It's really not, he killed his partner and then tried to blame it on her by essentially saying she asked for it, that it was a sex game gone and she consented to that sex therefore she consented to the consequences.

He inflicted 40+ injuries on her, including jamming a trigger-spray bottle of carpet cleaner in her vagina and spraying bleach in her face. He then left her on the floor, went to bed and slept, got up the next morning and had breakfast, and washed his car, and then called an ambulance, a call where he described her as "dead as a doughnut". He openly admitted he was angry with her for sending a Snapchat to another man and that he wanted to teach her a lesson.

Gancanny · 21/11/2020 14:54

Sorry, I misunderstood.

DressesWithPocketsRockMyWorld · 21/11/2020 16:21

The whole thing makes me feel sick to my stomach. That poor, poor lady and her poor family having to listen to utter fucking cunts excusing the man who violently raped and killed her.
