What are we doing wrong with our boys?

NC for this. Mum of boys here.

I love my DC to pieces. They're too young for school yet. But I've already noticed that, whenever you hear complaints about badly behaved children in the classroom (or often outside it), it usually although not always seems to be boys who are being complained about. Just wondering why that is? What are we doing wrong with our boys?

A system based on blind obedience ,fear and corporal punishment.

These people designed modern workplaces for grown ups too - or at least mine! Grin

I work in behaviour in a senior school and more boys get sent out of class than girls BUT the behaviour of the girls that do get sent out is mainly much less manageable than the boys in my experience

I was encouraged to like quiet, studious things and be a "nice girl". My brother was allowed to be more boisterous and do thinks like sports instead of art and music lessons. Expectations of girls/women are strange, we have to be strong, independent, high achievers while remaining meek and submissive and not upsetting anyone or making ourselves noticed. You'd never hear a boy being told that "a nice young man doesn't do that" or "respectable boys shouldn't....."
