That seems a lot

So I’m wondering if it’s true

In a very unscientific poll

YABU = not xmas shopping yet
YANBU = yes I’m shopping for Christmas

nearly done lol

HotToCold · 03/10/2020 18:50

I even have all my wrapping paper, gift tags and Christmas cards
Had them months :)

emotionalbutterfly · 03/10/2020 18:54

I'm all done too and have been since August.

Iseeyoulookingatme · 03/10/2020 18:56

I've finished ds presents, I've got to get stocking fillers for dh but they are normally foodie things so will get them nearer the time. I've just got to buy for my dm and dd. I'm going to be moving shortly so I want to pay for them before the move.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 03/10/2020 18:58

I'm am, but that's usual for me from about the end of August.

AlwaysLatte · 03/10/2020 19:28

Ha yes Jan sales - I always get all my wrapping paper and cards for the following year (75% off) loads of stocking fillers and get whatever I think a particular person might like, not just for Christmasses but for birthdays throughout the year too. Saves a lot of money!

Mypathtriedtokillme · 05/10/2020 11:34

Mine is the the same but flipped:
The thought of mask wearing then stuck in a carpark with Christmas traffic With no aircon in 40 degree heat made me get everything ready for Christmas during the year except for fresh food. (Even though I’m hoping for a wet cool summer and Xmas this year)

Shopped. Wrapped. Posted where appropriate.

I normally aim to be done by Black Friday at the latest anyway so this isn't unusual. Shopping in December rather than enjoying December is far too stressful.

This year i think people are going to have a big shock if they leave it late. The delivery drivers ive spoken to are struggling and are already on massive amounts of overtime.

If you put in an order the week before Christmas and expect to get it in time you are off your head.

I am looking forward to the threads next month from people screaming that their delivery isn't going to turn up the right side of Christmas. I shall be unbearably smug.

Bagamoyo1 · 20/11/2020 10:59

I just ticked YANBU, then realised this is a semi zombie thread . I definitely wasn’t shopping for Christmas at the beginning of October!

Searchesforhipbones · 20/11/2020 11:00

@gardeningirl

Yep I’ve started - buying tie dye set & lots of white tank tops for DDs Xmas stocking this eve😊
Vg idea
Proudboomer · 20/11/2020 11:04

I always have all my gift shopping finished by the end of November than I only have food, drink and any Christmas donations to budget for in December.

Some of us have to budget and spend the cost out as some bastard cut down our magic money tree.

AldiAisleofCrap · 20/11/2020 11:06

Almost finished same as every year. Be a bit odd to wait until December it’s the same date e wry year.

Ilovesugar · 20/11/2020 11:09

I’ve finished but this isn’t unusual, I’m normally finished about now. I can’t stand crowd and shopping when it’s busy

Glamflimfloogety · 20/11/2020 11:09

I usually start mid October so I can spread it over a few pay packets, rather than one big splurge. I know I still spend the same, it just feels less if a burden this way.

Also, I do my most of mine online so gives me plenty of time for delivery

NancysDream · 20/11/2020 11:36

I intend to be basically finished by the first week of December. This year I wish I had started sooner though

HunterAngel · 20/11/2020 18:40

I’m done, just got to finish wrapping and write cards. I always start early, I despise shopping in December

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 20/11/2020 21:49

Everyone will be doing it online and waits will be huge so I'm getting fished early. I ordered something from next yesterday with a 5-6 week wait already

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 20/11/2020 21:50

Finished not fished

FiveGoMadInDorset · 20/11/2020 21:53

This is late for me, most of it done in one go on line last week

M0rT · 20/11/2020 22:17

I usually do it all in the second/third week of December. With the obligatory run around Christmas Eve for something I forgot!
This year I'm nearly done, ordered something at the start of October that usually comes in a few days and it took three weeks. So that put the wind up me to sort Christmas.
Hope everyone has a happy one anyway, regardless of when they did their shopping! Flowers

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 20/11/2020 22:53

I normally start at the beginning of October as I have a lot of family on the other side of the world and I try to make things where they'll be appreciated which can take time. This year we're having a really pared down Christmas so I've bought/made everything for my husband and am working on sibs' kids gifts and that'll be it. My in-laws will get their presents when we next get to see them and our gift to my family will be out presence as we plan to fly out as soon as it's feasible.
Shops, queues and crowds trigger my PTSD at the best of times but doing that now would tip me over. Thank god for online shopping and a well stocked studio.

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 20/11/2020 22:54

Figgygal · 20/11/2020 22:55

I’m done apart from dh
All our kids, parents and niece/nephew dh does his side of family
Stopped doing siblings and friends/friends kids years ago so not many to buy for anyway

liveitwell · 20/11/2020 22:57

I've finished mine, just need to wrap them up! What's wrong with being organised and avoiding the big rush?
