to not believe Trump has Covid?

GeorgeDavidson · 02/10/2020 09:05

Well, MN, does he or doesn't he?

YANBU - no, he doesn't have it
YABU - yes he probably does, why would they lie?

Is this just some ploy to miss next debates and make him look 'tough' when he sails through it without getting ill?

There's no way it benefits Trump to lie about having COVID. His whole handling of the pandemic has been a disaster, so the last thing he would want is for the spotlight to come back on it.

It just shows such bad judgement on his part, especially his cavalier attitude to mask wearing and havoc rallies indoors.

Tellmetruth4 · 02/10/2020 10:44

‘If Trump should pass before the election, the Vice President, Mike Pence will become President and the candidate. Mr. Pence will appoint a new Vice President. He's much nicer than Trump, more polite, and his wife always knows where he sleeps at night. Pence has significant tells when Trump says very stupid things’

WTAF? Pence ‘nice’? He’s a fundamentalist Christian. If he’s made president, women will be forced to become handmaidens by the end of the year. He’s arguably even more scary than Trump for different reasons. He believes in end of days shit and probably cannot wait to bring on the second coming.

@strawberrysandpecans

Goes to show where we are right now that it's hard to know and who can say. I'm wondering if he'll try to use it as an excuse to postpone the election indefinitely
he;s already tried that and got shut down.
Emmelina · 02/10/2020 10:46

YADNBU.
My first thought when I read the news this morning was “does he b**cks.”
It’s incredibly convenient timing, isn’t it?

LadyLoungeALot · 02/10/2020 10:46

@mumwon

Never have so many people hoped for some one to be really ill!
I don't like Trump (massive understatement) but wishing him ill really doesn't sit right with me. I find it unsettling so many are hoping for him and his wife to suffer or even die and leave his children (and one is just 14) orphans.
ilovemydogandMrObama · 02/10/2020 10:46

Didn't he say at the debate that everyone there had been tested in reference to why he wasn't wearing a mask?

If that's the case, then it means that he got in past 24 hours.

AlternativePerspective · 02/10/2020 10:48

I don’t believe for a second that he has it, but the risk if he doesn’t is that he could still catch it at a later date and then what?

I’m not up for wishing people ill or dead, but in truth people will only believe that he actually does have COVID if he falls ill with it or dies..

ancientgran · 02/10/2020 10:49

My husband was just saying he thought it was fake news. I think it is probably true as it makes his not mask wearing and dismissing it look a bit stupid. Then again I suppose he isn't that bothered about looking stupid. I can't decide what to vote.

froggygoneacourting · 02/10/2020 10:52

I honestly am undecided. I definitely wouldn't put it past him to lie and fake having COVID, and I can see some benefits (or what he would imagine are benefits) to faking it.

Otoh he's dismissed it as a hoax, and his diagnosis has sent the world markets into chaos. He's clearly very stupid and out of control and doesn't apply a jot of critical thinking to his decisions, so he may not care. But he always wants to be seen as the bestest strongest, etc. so I'm not sure I can see him wanting to be seen as sick when he's not.

Crafting1Queen · 02/10/2020 10:54

That's what happens when you grab 'em by the pussy/stick your tongue down their throats/get in people's personal space, pawing and slevering all over them.

Karma, what goes around, comes around.

SleepingStandingUp · 02/10/2020 10:55

Either way, he'll get voted in. It's 2020 innit

Mittens030869 · 02/10/2020 10:58

It means that if he loses the election, he can blame his defeat on China.

D4rwin · 02/10/2020 10:59

Certainly took the focus over his inability to debate and do public speaking; sympathy vote etc. He's also not known for honesty.

crankysaurus · 02/10/2020 11:03

He might or he might not, I'm on the fence but would believe he'd definitely use it for political gain. He's already lining up so that if he loses he can say it was rigged and an invalid election, this would be the ideal excuse to say it had been fixed while he had his eye off the ball, being poorly on bed. He doesn't want to leave office and will subvert democracy to do so, as per the start of fascism.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 02/10/2020 11:09

@GeorgeDavidson

'I bet his wife doesn't but they have to say she has otherwise it'll look like she's not been within 2 metres of him.'

Didn't think of that - look how she greeted him at the end of the debate...

Slightly off topic but I do like Melania's answer in an interview if asked if she would be with him if he wasn't rich: 'Would he be with me if I wasn't beautiful?'
Janegrey333 · 02/10/2020 11:12

He really is an automatic liar. He’s faking it, the despicable excuse for a human being.

Wheresthebeach · 02/10/2020 11:13

@QuestionableMouse

My American friend reckons he's had a TIA/stroke or something and they're saying it's Covid because obviously they can't come out and say he's had a stroke because it'll bugger his chances.
Ohhhh that's interesting.

The level public trust has sunk to is unbelievable. That we doubt the truth of this tells us everything we need to know about the state of politics today.

I don't know what to think or even what to hope for these days (apart from Biden winning the election that is).

DGRossetti · 02/10/2020 11:14

Why on earth would this be the only thing he's ever told he truth about ?

(See also: B. Johnson, esq)

Sorry, if your "one crazy trick" for getting through life is to lie about everything whenever it suits you then credibility will always be for other people.

DickKerrLadies · 02/10/2020 11:15

Hmmm... I think that saying he's lying because he wants to avoid the next debates is crediting him with a degree of self-awareness that I don't think Trump has. I'm sure he thinks he did a great job at the debate. The best. Bigly.

And I don't think that anyone in the Republican party hoping for a win really wants Trump isolated for 2 weeks on Twitter with no-one to control him other than Melania, who presumably is making the most of those words 'self-isolation'. Trump with time on his hands and a phone in them? Could be fun.

On the flip side, he does have form for claiming illness/injury to get out of things. And he's a Billy Bullshitter in general.

Boy who cried wolf, I suppose. Who knows.

PerveenMistry · 02/10/2020 11:15

I think he's scamming to detract attention from negative news.

BestZebbie · 02/10/2020 11:15

I think it is very telling that he "has had a positive test" rather than "has covid".

Notfeelinggreattoday · 02/10/2020 11:15

I don't think it benefits him in anyway to have the virus , so believe he has it
Re : boris johnson going into hospital quicker than jo public - well of course he would , when your the pm of the country you will get these privileges - thats life and to be expected that a current pm would be monitored closely

QuestionableMouse · 02/10/2020 11:15

@Itsabeautifuldayheyhey

My American friend reckons he's had a TIA/stroke or something and they're saying it's Covid because obviously they can't come out and say he's had a stroke Well, if your friend says that, it must be true 🤣🤣🤣
Well no but it is kinda interesting because he's not exactly in the best of health to start with. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ And honestly, with him, nothing would surprise me.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/10/2020 11:16

Is this just some ploy to miss next debates and make him look 'tough' when he sails through it without getting ill?

I thought this too, along with "I've suffered with you - we're in this together" and it has to help his team to keep the jingoist racist misogynistic idiot out of the limelight for a while - he must be a PR nightmare to handle!

They want to reduce the damage he does to himself coming up to the election.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/10/2020 11:19

This is what I've always thought when women are accused of being "gold-diggers'.

They might use their looks to get money, but is that any worse than using your money to get sex with a beautiful woman?
