to not believe Trump has Covid?

GeorgeDavidson · 02/10/2020 09:05

Well, MN, does he or doesn't he?

YANBU - no, he doesn't have it
YABU - yes he probably does, why would they lie?

Is this just some ploy to miss next debates and make him look 'tough' when he sails through it without getting ill?

@Anordinarymum

He does not have Covid any more than Boris Johnson had it. I still like Trump though. Not for his ideals but because he is prepared to stand up and be honest about himself which I had never witnessed in my life in the world of politics, or for that matter The News which we are spoon-fed on a daily basis. I'm choking on lies from the media these days
I am astonished that anyone could possibly consider Trump truthful.
Leaannb · 02/10/2020 16:49

@keeprocking

He probably does have it, or at least a positive test. The really interesting thing is if he does have it and it proves fatal what happens with the November election? Would Pence be the automatic R candidate? Could they drop someone else in at the last minute? It happened in The West Wing, aka US politics 101, where the VP candidate died when John Spencer died, it seemed to be a complicated process even for the VP
Ues they can. The RNC can nominate anyone to take Trump's place. It doesn't have to be Pence.
WonderMoon · 02/10/2020 16:50

I don't believe it..very convenient. Politics full of fake news, scandal and lies.

“He was in an extreme hotspot last week. Been in and oit of that state for months. Even had a court caseA place that is now posting their highest levels since July. A state he has tried to sue several times in the past 7 months. He has it.”

If he has it, it would probably be weeks ago when he took the test. He look fine to me

VinylDetective · 02/10/2020 17:10

@DGRossetti

Much as I detest and distrust Johnson, he looked dreadful when he emerged from hospital. Are you seriously suggesting that all the healthcare professionals involved in his care lied as well? There’s no doubt in my cynical mind that he had it.

A real healthcare professional can't disclose anything about their patients without consent.

And there are plenty of ways to look shit, as many people throwing sickies will know full well.

Unfortunately Boris is a proven liar. Who has managed to surround himself with liars.

So you'll have to pardon me if I struggle with anything he says as being "true".

The health care professionals were given consent to talk about Johnson. He named them. They did media interviews with his blessing.

The trouble now is that politicians have gaslighted us so much that we think everything is conspiracy and lies.

Weeks ago he was in the same hotspot state. He has been here like its a freaking revolving door.. I was within 50 feet of him last week. He looked sick

It's truely bonkers to disbelieve boris had covid. That really is tin hat territory.
His doctors both called nick were in the radio being interviewed. He named his son after them. The new zealand nurse was all over new zealand news talking about it. And there was a thank you type meeting in downing street rose garden with about 3 of the nurses plus the two doctors involved plus prob some more of the st thomas team

Mittens030869 · 02/10/2020 17:25

I believe it, but not because I trust Trump. I don't, as far as I can throw him. Same with Boris. But thousands of others have been in hospital and too many have died. So it's not exactly hard to believe that Trump has the virus. Especially since he hasn't exactly been following the rules. He hasn't been wearing masks or practising social distancing.

Political leaders are as likely to catch the virus as anyone else.

blueberrypie0112 · 02/10/2020 17:33

If he or anything close to him suspect coronavirus weeks ago before he took the test, I like to know why he didn’t quarantine beforehand.

I don’t know how long it take to get the results for a president

dworky · 02/10/2020 17:38

It is VERY convenient but not absolute proof of a lie.

Precisely.

Liars lie.

What more proof do you want ?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/10/2020 18:21

@AthelstaneTheUnready

Boris definitely had it; all that wheezing and farting in public broadcasts.
I suspect that is no different to every time he hauls his fat backside out of bed* in a morning.

*Not necessarily his own.

And THAT is the truth, Vinyl

This. Including the virus itself. The media and government love to exaggerate a crisis: the millennium bug will wipe out everything, your mobile is killing you, weapons of mass destruction, immigrants are destroying everything you hold dear. They have cried wolf so much, that it's hard to take any "crisis" seriously. And they wonder why so many people are Covid deniers.

Honest about himself? This is the only President in US history who has refused to release his tax returns on taking office. If he's so "honest" & has nothing to hide, why not let them be published?

He has said things in public, that have been recorded and broadcast, then denied ever having said them. He has told lies about his net worth, including exaggerating his holdings in the family company.

He has publicly claimed credit for a large number of business investments that began before he was elected.

Many other examples, cited by "Fake News" publications like the New York Times and the Washington post.

And you may place his "honesty" above his ideals, but I'd rather have someone who was a decent person but told fibs, than an honest but completely morally bankrupt person in charge.

froggygoneacourting · 02/10/2020 19:09

Donald Trump has been proven a liar over and over and over again.

People think plain talking = honesty, but it can be the opposite.

Lindy2 · 02/10/2020 19:20

Well I don't think Boris stayed in intensive care just for fun.

So what's the theory with Boris? He stayed in a hotel but popped into hospital for the odd photo opportunity, or he slept over at the hospital and just hung out chilling? And not a single nurse or HCA has sold the story anonymously? And to what end? I don't get what he had to gain from faking an illness?

Bathroom12345
Bieden was sturggling with his words, he looked vacant.

You may not be aware that Biden (I assume you mean Biden when you write Bieden) has had a stutter from childhood, though I can't think how anyone who knows anything about American politicians has missed it. One of things which makes it very difficult for people with this condition to articulate clearly is being shouted at by a bully. And Biden managed not to stutter once during that entire exhibition of hostile, aimed noise from Trump.

Shame on you for judging someone for having a disability.

I find that rather worse than an 11-y-o saying that Trump getting a disease he has clearly never cared about others getting (and 213,155 Americans dying of) serves Trump right. Children often see things with distressing clarity.

Children have a very black and white way of seeing the world, which is not helpful.

I do find it odd you pin the blame of COVID deaths solely on Trump. You are familiar with how American federalism works, aren’t you? Responses by governors varied as wildly as they did in the EU countries. Some states, like NY, did very poorly while others like Virginia did quite well.

It’s not a Blue state vs Red state thing either. Some Red states like Lousiana did horribly whereas Blue state Washington did very well despite early outbreaks. In fact, all of the American West Coast did pretty well while the American East Coast fared far worse.

Virginia did no better than NY. My son was in NYC for college and they acted fast. My son went home as soon he heard about the first lockdown they had that was nearby (somewhere near New Jersey) .
blueberrypie0112 · 02/10/2020 21:04

Which btw, I am from Virginia. I watched this whole thing started since my son was in college in NYC and I was quite nervous as he has virus induced asthma
