to not believe Trump has Covid?

Well, MN, does he or doesn't he?

YANBU - no, he doesn't have it
YABU - yes he probably does, why would they lie?

Is this just some ploy to miss next debates and make him look 'tough' when he sails through it without getting ill?

“He is so strong, the bigliest strong,”

to not believe Trump has Covid?
turnitonagain · 02/10/2020 14:35

@Anordinarymum

He does not have Covid any more than Boris Johnson had it. I still like Trump though. Not for his ideals but because he is prepared to stand up and be honest about himself which I had never witnessed in my life in the world of politics, or for that matter The News which we are spoon-fed on a daily basis. I'm choking on lies from the media these days
You like him for being honest but you think he’s lying about having COVID Hmm

Notyoungbutscrappyandhungry · 02/10/2020 14:36

I think he has it. I think the cognitive dissonance he has knows absolutely no bounds. It’s a special skill. He has no link in his mind to his denials, refusal to follow guidance and his catching the disease.

Anordinarymum · 02/10/2020 14:37

turnitonagain

yes :)

Devlesko · 02/10/2020 14:39

I don't believe either Trump or Johnson have had it.
all a smokescreen.

ktp100 · 02/10/2020 14:45

I can't help but think the timing is too convenient. He wants to control the narrative and guess what, nobody's talking about his tax evasion or support of white supremacy groups anymore!

Add to that the sympathy he saw Bozo get when he had it and, well, I call bullshit.

I bet he'll waltz out in 2 weeks, bragging about how he beat 'the deadliest virus ever' (that he's previously referred to as 'just the flu') as if he's done 20 round with Tyson, Lord Voldermort & Godzilla and come out the victor.

keeprocking · 02/10/2020 14:47

He probably does have it, or at least a positive test.

The really interesting thing is if he does have it and it proves fatal what happens with the November election? Would Pence be the automatic R candidate? Could they drop someone else in at the last minute? It happened in The West Wing, aka US politics 101, where the VP candidate died when John Spencer died, it seemed to be a complicated process even for the VP

Deadringer · 02/10/2020 14:51

@EternalOptimist7

DD11 came into the kitchen & said “ Good news - Trump’s got Covid! That’ll pay him back for all those people he didn’t help”. Out of the mouths of babes.....I wouldn’t wish it on anyone but maybe karma has paid a call here
The 11 year old didn't wish him dead, ffs such drama.
keeprocking · 02/10/2020 14:52

www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/10/02/were-final-stages-presidential-election-what-happens-if-candidate-withdraws-or-dies/#comments-wrapper

This seems to address the scenario if Trump dies or becomes incapacitated before the elction or the inauguration.

Taikoo · 02/10/2020 14:57

I don't think he has it.

he did it to avoid doing any more live presidential debates.
to garner sympathy.
to delay the election.
to cancel the election full stop.
to try and come out of covid looking like a hero.

blueberrypie0112 · 02/10/2020 14:57

I don’t believe he have it, after so many rally and exposures.... and it happened in the last minute?

This is not the first time he did something like this

Mittens030869 · 02/10/2020 15:03

Come on, it was always going to happen, eventually, with his cavalier attitude to masks and social distancing. His closest aide developed the symptoms and then tested positive, so it's hardly a surprise.

It just shows what an idiot he has been with regards to the virus.

Faultymain5 · 02/10/2020 15:10

I just heard Boris say "I'm sure that they will both "stage" a very strong recovery."

The key word being "stage", when Boris is telling you the truth you should listenGrin

bevelino · 02/10/2020 15:14

I don’t think for a second he has Covid. This is just a charade and fake news as he would call it.

wanderings · 02/10/2020 15:17

Trump, Boris and Blair are the reason I can't believe anything on the news at all.

DGRossetti · 02/10/2020 15:19

Much as I detest and distrust Johnson, he looked dreadful when he emerged from hospital. Are you seriously suggesting that all the healthcare professionals involved in his care lied as well? There’s no doubt in my cynical mind that he had it.

A real healthcare professional can't disclose anything about their patients without consent.

And there are plenty of ways to look shit, as many people throwing sickies will know full well.

Unfortunately Boris is a proven liar. Who has managed to surround himself with liars.

So you'll have to pardon me if I struggle with anything he says as being "true".

NRatched · 02/10/2020 15:23

@SchadenfreudePersonified

Slightly off topic but I do like Melania's answer in an interview if asked if she would be with him if he wasn't rich: 'Would he be with me if I wasn't beautiful?'

This is what I've always thought when women are accused of being "gold-diggers'.

They might use their looks to get money, but is that any worse than using your money to get sex with a beautiful woman?

Agreed 100% with this. Both are taking advantage of each other.
Leaannb · 02/10/2020 15:27

@bevelino

I don’t think for a second he has Covid. This is just a charade and fake news as he would call it.
Even though he has been in and oit of a major US Hotspot almost on a weekly basis since the end of July? A place who has just posted their highest numbers of Covid since July? A place where he and his daughter have refused to protect themselves. Just last week in a place where people have just returned stateside from a place that is being decimated by Covid? I saw him last week. He didn't look well then
Mittens030869 · 02/10/2020 15:28

@Leaannb I'm sure he has it. He has symptoms apparently, according to the latest news. He only has himself to blame, though.

Leaannb · 02/10/2020 15:31

I totally agree. I think he was sick last week. He looked like shit right before his rally. I also think he has only himself to blame. Why in the hell would you go into a known hotspot repeatedly for weeks and do nothing to protect yourself? He is freaking ridiculous. I have no sympathy for him

Leaannb · 02/10/2020 16:08

@blueberrypie0112

He was in an extreme hotspot last week. Been in and oit of that state for months. Even had a court caseA place that is now posting their highest levels since July. A state he has tried to sue several times in the past 7 months. He has it.
BiBabbles · 02/10/2020 16:22

Every American has a role in what has happened at the border. Due to the way we voted.

With disenfranchisement in the US, there are several million adult Americans without the right to vote, before getting into barriers to voting many who still have the right face. A country's citizens are not their government and the ideal of a government being the product of its people erases a lot of other elements involved.

safariboot · 02/10/2020 16:32

He cannot have enormous impact without Congress

You're neglecting the impact Trump has had on Congress, well on its Republican members at least. With very few exceptions the Republican reps and senators have fallen in line. Trump says jump and they say how high.

That's not unique to Trump, it's almost universal for party leaders to demand loyalty and shunt aside those who openly disagree with the leaders' policy. But it's the main way Trump can and does influence Congress.

maggiethecat · 02/10/2020 16:34

@Deadringer - "The 11 year old didn't wish him dead, ffs such drama."

Exactly my view.
