To be angry my husband booked my flu shot?

Bankingswitch · 30/09/2020 17:01

Been at my desk since 7am. I go to the toilet for 10 minutes this afternoon to find Dh has booked my flu shot for a time I didn't want

Phone rang, he picked up and it was surgery on behalf of NHS to book this year's flu shot for me.

He had the choice of 2 appointments 9am and 10.30am. He picked the second one. I always make medical appointments for first thing if I have a choice - he knows this!

If there was no choice in appointment I could accept that but there was!

Also annoyed because I am a high-risk patient (hence the flu shot) and now another 20 people will have been through the room I have to use before I even get there!!

He says it will be fine. He's so laidback all the time. He thought we could go for a walk afterwards if we went later... I am more interested in not catching COVID right now.

I am happy to hide out from COVID and flu but don't like having to go into situations like this.

Am I being unreasonable?

Well done for taking it on the chin OP! You wanted to know if you were being unreasonable, almost everyone said yes and you accepted it with good grace. Not very often that happens! Good luck with the appointment 😊

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 01/10/2020 17:47

The aren’t most ppl getting flu jab high risk?

DueNumberTwo · 01/10/2020 17:48

This!!! Calm down

Op calmed down sometime around yesterday dinner time Grin

Vinomummyinlockdown · 01/10/2020 17:50

Is this a stealth flu shot advert?!

DagenhamRoundhouse · 01/10/2020 17:51

You should be OK going for a walk, as long as it's not through Selfridges!

tommyhoundmum · 01/10/2020 17:51

Agree with Hopoindown31.Seems like there's something else going on.

Gabbygirl13 · 01/10/2020 17:52

This is clearly a joke post? If it's not...what a bizzare thing to be annoyed about!

myblackboots · 01/10/2020 17:54

I’d be glad he booked it for me, especially as not that much time difference. My DH booked mine for me and I’m grateful he did before supply issues arose. You sound quite stressed - perhaps this was the ‘waffer-thin mint’ that signalled Covid stress overload.

Teddybear27 · 01/10/2020 17:56

You are being completely unreasonable and selfish. So your husband booked the wrong time? At least he tried. Why can’t you ring and rebook? Yes, I know doctors are busy at the moment but you will just have to be patient or can you ask your husband to rebook for you at a time that is more convenient for you? Be a bit more thankful...

SupplyChainHusband · 01/10/2020 17:58

I've been repeatedly trying to book my wife's flu shot for the last two weeks (for which she is grateful). Count yourself lucky your husband managed to get you one, I've escalated my problem to my MP because the surgery only has them available for over 65's (of which we have many in our area).

Rachand23 · 01/10/2020 17:59

You walk in when told face mask on present your arm, walk out ! Get over it. Life too short to be angry, that way your more likely to have a heart attack than Covid.

Jeeperscreepers69 · 01/10/2020 18:01

Your moaning its unattractive. Stop. Go for that walk afterwards

Lisa82sim · 01/10/2020 18:06

I feel sorry for your husband. You sound abit entitled and highly strung to think you should be the first through the door... You're not the only person who's high risk.

starlight13 · 01/10/2020 18:08

You are going to absolute smash your immune system if you keep having these jabs. Your body won't have the ability to fight of anything. Stop being angry at your husband and wake up to your own problem that you're a hypochondriac. Get on out there, be sensible and get on with life.

mumsmaur · 01/10/2020 18:11

I like others here have said here that to be honest it does seem that your other half did the best for you, as if he had asked for a call back it may have given you the possible risk of delaying this and that would not benefit you.
I have a husband that is very ill and unable to deal with many matters
such as this, so be glad where you are and love what's yours whilst you have it.

LovelyIssues · 01/10/2020 18:11

Yabu. Just ring them and change it Confused

Bakingcupcake · 01/10/2020 18:11

This is not a GDPR breach, I work in a GP surgery, its her husband, its an appointment, anyone can technically book an appointment for another person, its not like they were giving him results over the phone!

supperlover · 01/10/2020 18:12

I would be very cross if my surgery discussed anything to do with my medical care with my husband- an absolute breach of confidentiality.

FelicisNox · 01/10/2020 18:17

AYBU? Er yes and completely ridiculous.

Be glad you have an appointment because many can't get one and in future book your own.

I can't get over this OTT ungrateful reaction.

Ring your GP and see if you can get it moved. FYI: all the people being offered a flu shot with their GP are high risk, not just you so wind your neck in.

Snowpatrolling · 01/10/2020 18:26

I get one every year and I’ve been put on a sodding waiting list! I wouldn’t get to worked up about it, everything will be sanitised between patients.

cuparfull · 01/10/2020 18:28

YABVVU given I asked at Boots yesterday and they are booking two weeks in advance. Our GP's are starting innocs in two weeks aswell.
Take the appointment and be grateful, everyone has soooo much on their minds atm its a wonder any of us are functioning Sad so be gentle with OH.

scarlywarlyx · 01/10/2020 18:30

He was doing you a favour! Just call and change it geeeee don’t need to go on about it on here it’s a minor!

Purplealienpuke · 01/10/2020 18:33

Ffs what are you actually moaning for???
My surgery aren't even doing them themselves, they're offering a drive through option. Guess what, I don't drive! And its on a university campus that's in lockdown.

Just be grateful.

Crumpetsforthequeen · 01/10/2020 18:33

Yes yadbu, stop being so dramatic, I'm high risk too but dont make a song and dance about it, don't like the time? just call the surgery and change it, it's not the end of the world

cuparfull · 01/10/2020 18:34

Really I don't know why the surgeries don't just erect a marquee and get us through quickly in the open air, standing up, sleeves rolled up just like when we were Army kids having 6 monthly Cholera jabs.

Much safer, quicker and no need for any wiping down of any surfaces....just needs a bit of planning.
