Rubbish

Hi all, new to this so forgive me if I'm doing it wrong, been clearing out my house and have got a issue, I've thrown away so much that my bin is rammed full, I will hold my hands up and admit I don't recycle much like my copies of the Sun and my magazines are all in the rubbish and when cuddly toys are in the way they to go in the rubbish. Anyway my wheelie bin is choka and I've two more bags to put in, the lid isn't even shut now, the top waste is cuddly toys so they should squash but they will not! Anybody got any suggestions for what I can do, I can't go to the tip as I have a one year old and I have nobody to look after her.

Why don't you recycle?

You should pay for rubbish clearance if you dont drive or get a friend to help?

Wait until it's dark and put the rubbish in a public litter bin. Technically fly tipping but if nobody sees you it's fine.

Only other advice is to try to squash rubbish down further - I assume you've tried standing on it in the bin to force it down?

Can you not take your wee one with you to the tip? In ours you drive up to the right area, get out and throw in your bags then drive off.

Ask a kind neighbour if they have space ? It depends how long it is to collection day though. It’s tomorrow, great. It’s two weeks from now, on your bike.

Please recycle. There really isn’t any excuse not to.

Put the sucker toys through the wash then stick them in a bin liner and take then to a charity shop.

Please don’t encourage the OP to do this. It’s an offence and carries a large fine.

OP, can you put your recyclables in your recycle bin?

Surely the most obvious and least inconvenient solution for you is to take out the recyclables and put them in the recycling bin freeing up space for rubbish?!

Your options are:

  • go to the tip. Leave little one in the car seat.
  • hire a waste removal company
  • hire a skip
  • ask a few neighbours if there's any room
  • if it's none food waste, I'd keep a couple of bags in the kitchen or a spare room until bin day

Apologies, but I thought I wouldn't get judged on here! I read the sun because I choose to and also the Sun savers is a great way to save up for Christmas shopping or days out etc.

Please recycled your stuff, including the toys! No sympathy for landfillers. Those toys will take hundreds of years to decompose, what a sad and depressing waste!

Ignore the snobbiness on here, @Singlemumma1996 you can read whatever you like.

However, you’re going to have to get into the recycling habit; and not just to make things easier for yourself. Take out all the newspaper and put it in the recycling and maybe wash and donate the soft toys.

Also, I’ve taken young DC to the tip before. They just sit in the car and can be seen by me. You don’t have to wander far from the car.

I don't udusly create this much waste but due to having a sort out I've got a tonne of it!! The trouble with taking the papers out and the other items is they're in tied bin bags. I do recycle stuff like glass and plastic bottles mostly but stuff like paper I never bother. I did ask my neighbours if they could help but they wouldn't let me use their bin! :/

I wouldn't either....

I find it hard to believe that someone is old enough to have a child, but not old enough to know how to sort their crap out....

Trouble with freecyle etc is the whole social interaction side people coming to my home, I'm terrified with this covid situation. Hence why I won't go to the tip
