Trump vs Biden who would get your vote?

I’m up watching the first presidential debate from the UK. Who would get your vote?

I don’t believe Biden will retire after a year either. Why would he do that? There’s nothing in it for him. He’d do the full term and then seek re-election for another term. Because that’s what you do when elected president. Why bother standing otherwise?

I think that the fact that both are getting on in years makes it even more important to consider not only the candidate but their running-mate. There is more chance than with younger candidates that they could die in office or resign for health reasons. While I don't think that Biden intends to resign in favour of Kamala Harris, that's who would become president if he did have to resign, and she seems to be a decent, intelligent, reasonable person: I wouldn't be scared of the possibilty. Whereas Trump would be replaced by Pence, who seems even worse than Trump, inasmuch as he really believes in all this far-right stuff, while Trump is more of an opportunist, who might be persuaded/ bribed to change his mind on something if it was sufficiently to his advantage to do so.

But seriously: for anyone who is dwelling on the imperfections of Biden, just imagine that we had a binary choice in the UK between Tommy Robinson and almost anyone else. We would, I hope, vote for the person who wasn't Tommy Robinson, even if they weren't ideal. And Trump is basically an older and richer version of Tommy Robinson.

Every eligible voter should use their vote.
There are multiple levels to the election ...

The popular vote in each state
The electoral college outcome in each state
The popular vote nationally
The electoral college nationally

The USA standards on racial disenfranchising of voters are despicable
Only by voting Trump out is there a chance for change

Biden ain't a great choice
but he'll likely put a competent team together
who will deal with Climate Change and Trade and COVID

Trump on the other hand ....

The report I read was something along the lines of, Biden doesn't really want to be president, he's been persuaded into it as a way of getting Trump out and Harris in.

But its presumably all.pure speculation. I'd love it to be true though.

PIL live in rural Pennsylvania which is VERY. Trump supporting. MiL is a Democrat but is in a very small minority. She says almost everyone she knows will be voting for Trump again.

I think that's part of it, but also, sadly, I think her being a woman had a lot to do with it, plus the fact that she is perceived as too left-wing (she isn't) by some people and not left-wing enough by the Bernie bros who wouldn't countenance anyone but him, so she got kind of squashed in the middle. But for me, she was streets ahead of any of the other depressingly mediocre male candidates. Still, though, Biden is a hundred times better than ghastly Trump, of course.

Elizabeth Warren! We could have had someone really brilliant like her, and it still pisses me off that we were landed with Biden. OTOH, he's decent and not a crazed psychopath.
I know every white woman loves Elizabeth Warren, and her policies are great, but let's not forget she claimed Native American heritage that she does not actually have to the point of labelling herself Native on an application.

I'm half First Nations and have never lived on a reserve and think that's beyond the pale. She's worse than Biden. She's up there with Trump.

No idea what you are. I am just commenting on what I've seen. That every white woman loves Warren but ignored Harris when she was running.

Personally, I put Warren, with her disgusting cultural appropriation, puts herself on more on a racist, wall building, Proud Boy supporting, Trump than she does Biden. A certain level of racism needs to be present for her to claim status.

I put Warren more on par to Trump then I do Biden because of her cultural appropriation. To me, her willingness to claim an ethnicity she does not have in order to further her career is as bad as Trump.

I have no respect for her.

I find it very believable that she was genuine in her belief. I don't think she was deliberately misleading anyone. Why would she lie and risk being found out?

Biden is very old and very, very uninspiring, but he’s the best the Dems could come up with, so if I had a vote it would go to him. I was extremely relieved to hear on the news this morning that he hadn’t fucked up in the first debate.

I can see if it is very fifficult but I feel if you don't vote then you can't complain about the result. At worst I would have to 'spoil' the ballot paper. In many elections they declare the number of 'spoilt' papers which in itself can be statement.

Trump would get my vote purely based on the fact i haven’t seen any footage of him groping, visibly grooming, assaulting multiple young girls and even tweaking a child’s nipple - quite literally - on camera. It’s all over YouTube I don’t know how the fuck the man is running for president god only knows what will happen in the tunnels
under the white house 😔.

I’m sick of people excusing this mans behaviour away as he is ‘touchy feely’. Anyone vaguely aware of human body language can see he invades womens space and is inappropriate with children.

Mrs Prachett, I totally agree with you. I love Elizabeth Warren but there's no way the US is ready to vote for a woman. This is true crucial a vote for the Dems to lose.
