@Wannakisstheteacher

What blows my mind is that in a massive country like America, they just needed to find 1 single, decent human to run against Trump. Yet the best they could manage is Biden who seems to have almost as many issues of his own! Oh, and also doesn't look like he could survive a full term.
I wonder if this means that America is finished, the only people who are interested in being in charge are vultures who want to feed on the carcass

@Proudboomer

I would vote for Trump. Not because I am a Trump fan but because he is the only American president since Jimmy Carter who hasn’t invaded anyone and his policy is to bring the troops home. America has been in Afghanistan for over 17 years! Time for them to leave. He has also taken the first small steps which could lead to peace in the Middle East. Still along way to go but I would like whatever he is working on to be given a chance. 4 years ago everyone was crying you can’t trust Trump not to start a war but he is doing the opposite.

If the democrats had put forward a decent candidate maybe I would think differently but they have learnt nothing in the last 4 years.

He's too busy starting a war on home soil, that's why.
happiestwhenwithfriends · 30/09/2020 11:42

If I could vote it would be Biden all the way. But it would ready be an anti-Trump vote rather than a pro-Biden vote.

Anyone defending the hate-spreading Trump must be quite a nasty person themselves.

longwayoff · 30/09/2020 11:47

All the enemies America has made over the years and here it is, destroying itself, funded by Russia and Putin's greedy mates, laughing their heads off. We're next. Who would have believed it would be so easy?

IamTomHanks · 30/09/2020 11:49

He has also taken the first small steps which could lead to peace in the Middle East.

He didn't do a fucking thing. That was all Mohamed Bin Zayed, not Trump.

Jaxhog · 30/09/2020 11:50

we have over 360 million people here and this is best we can do?

I don't live in the US, thank goodness, but I have to agree with this. Is this really the best the US can come up with?

caughtalightsneeze · 30/09/2020 11:54

In what way? Please cite your sources for that allegation

There are countless videos and photos of Joe Biden physically touching women by holding onto their shoulders, invading their personal space, and sniffing their hair, and generally making them feel uncomfortable. Many of them even look visibly uncomfortable. It's not a malicious rumour, it's something he is doing in plain sight because he clearly thinks it is his right to.

BashfulClam · 30/09/2020 11:59

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles we have plenty in our Main Street so I’ll leave that to you 😂

AdoptedBumpkin · 30/09/2020 12:02

Biden, by default.

He is setting Americans against each other with his constant hate rhetoric. Why go to the trouble and expense of going to war elsewhere?

It’s awful that we have to compare and contrast but on a scale of sexual predator I don’t think Biden could surely score as high as Trump?

I can’t figure out if Biden was the clever choice by the Democrats - a woman wouldn’t get elected, anyone too “anything” wouldn’t get elected and Biden is just .. Biden... or if it’s very, very depressing?

zigaziga · 30/09/2020 12:13

Also Obama and Clinton were obviously exceptions but America does like its senior politicians to be post retirement age doesn’t it...

I don’t know why. Really you’d think Obama / Clinton would be the age you’d want. Old enough to have experience of the world but young enough to work the hours required without really feeling it. I can’t imagine many people in their 70s and 80s would be up for a 14 hour a day job?!

BritWifeinUSA · 30/09/2020 12:14

Republican household here. I don’t base it on 90 minutes of TV but on 47 vs 4 years of public office and what has/has not been said and achieved in that time.

Biden won’t even last the 4 years. So the question is really “Trump or Harris?”

KenDodd · 30/09/2020 12:19

Why, why, why couldn't they have selected Kamala Harris to run for president?

I don't believe that Americans won't vote for a women (Clinton got more votes) or that they won't vote for an African (Asian) American as proven by Obama.

BlueThistles · 30/09/2020 12:22

Donald Trump 🎉

EFLabroad · 30/09/2020 12:25

I remember reading about a book a guy had written about becoming president. Basically, they prefer straight, white, christian males. His research showed Americans would rather elect a black male, gay male, muslim male, or basically any male over a woman. It's really depressing.

CitizenFame · 30/09/2020 12:36

@foxyroxyyy
Hmm seriously???

@PerveenMistry
OMG, why? Is four years of destruction not enough?!

You can both unclench. I gave a hypothetical answer to what I thought was a hypothetical question (given that the majority of users on here aren’t American). I don’t have a say via a vote in the American election. And if I did but didn’t have to vote, then I wouldn’t, as I already said.

But if I was eligible and forced to vote, I’d vote Trump.

That is rather condescending and actually quite offensive.
ElsieMc · 30/09/2020 12:38

Just watched this. I expected Trump to be unspeakably awful and he did not disappoint But Biden did. He could have behaved with more dignity, name calling himself within a few minutes. He had his chance to be statesman-like and blew it against an overweight orange bully. Best watched with the volume off.

Biden is not a suitable candidate at all. They are I believe a similar age, yet Biden looked much older and more wobbly than Trump. He had to refer to notes all the time and even then stumbled.

Biden should have been miles ahead after this debate, yet 50-50 seems to be the outcome He should have had Trump on the rails. The moderator was rubbish. Send over Jeremy Paxman fgs.

I see Melania was criticised for not hugging Trump, but I saw she acknowledge Biden when she walked onto the stage and him her. She has more dignity than both.Horrified.

This still doesn't compare to rape, wanting to have sex with his own children and boasting about grabbing women "by the pussy".

Trump is no spring chicken himself. And his VP might be even worse that he is.
BrazenlyDefying · 30/09/2020 12:47

Why, why, why couldn't they have selected Kamala Harris to run for president?

For a start, she's a woman. Secondly, she's mixed race black/Asian.

Personally I think Michelle Obama would do a terrific job but unsurprisingly she's keeping well out of it. Smart lady.

To be fair to the US voters, HC won the popular vote. More people voted for her than the straight, white, "Christian" (in the vaguest sense!) male. The quirks of the electoral college, which favours Republicans, shut her own, and will continue to shut out any Democrat who doesn't win by a landslide.

However, even with the electoral college setup, Biden is still favoured to win.

projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-election-forecast/

Biden is far from ideal, but he is bland enough to pull it off.

His handsiness is hardly likely to deter an electorate who happily voted for a man accused of rape by multiple women, including his first wife and a then13 year old child, who received so many threats when she attempted to bring it to court a few years ago that she was forced to drop the charges.

With all of this KNOWN BY THE PUBLIC, Trump STILL won. So I really don't think that Biden invading women's personal space is going to register as a reason not to vote for him.

I didn’t say otherwise. The same things have been used throughout this thread. It’s not surprising.
