Royal Mail Post Woman does round with fag hanging out of her mouth

I often see the same Royal Mail post woman delivering Mail door to door with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth.

I think it’s really odd, it doesn’t look professional and surely she shouldn’t be allowed to.
Now, don’t worry, I don’t plan on complaining.
But after having the conversation about it to my DH (an ex-smoker) he thinks it’s perfectly acceptable and is doing no harm.

So I wondered. Is it just me that thinks it’s weird? I am prepared to be told yes.

I’ll add, I also notice when, say, I go to somewhere like Matalan or Dunelm and there are employees smoking outside the front door in uniform. And I think this is not right also.

YABU- who cares if she smokes while delivering people’s mail.

It doesn't matter to me but I recall it being said that keeping a cigarette 'permanently' in one's mouth is very, very bad for one's health.
I suppose one way or another the issue with extinguish itself...

On a different note, I once saw a milkman doing his rounds with a cigarette permanently in his mouth.

Terrible for her health. But I really don't understand why you would care/ post about it?

I think it is wrong. They are on paid time, doing a professional service. I would complain, I don't fancy having ash knocked all over my letters and parcels.

It does look sloppy. But I always long to tell scruffy (and quite senior) librarian in my local branch to take the chewing gum out of his mouth.

I would imagine that they’re not supposed to smoke whilst on duty but I have no idea. I think she’s be much better to stop for a few minutes, have a cigarette and carry on though.

Often see our postie stopping to light up a fag on his rounds. He is out 6 days a week in all sorts of weather. Couldn't give toss about it.

I agree it does ti look professional as she should probably wait untill she is on a break or something but it's not hurting anyone, as she is out doors by her self. I'd find it a bit odd but wouldnt complain about it.

Im a smoker, if i was working in a job kile this, i would be smoking too to be honest
