Might be all the stress in the world at the moment but it’s made me think about what I’d give for a couple of doves and the clammy hands that come with them. Don’t think my heart could take it now Sad

@Whatnext2018

I remember many many comedowns, having to sit around the table for Sunday dinner, grandparents included (god bless them) and not being able to eat a single thing
LOL! been there....
Howdidweenduphere · 28/09/2020 00:10

I loved clubbing in the 90s! But seriously the Leah Betts story freaked me out as a kid.. I never forgot her face. So I never touched pills. Lots and lots of booze instead. I do sometimes wonder what I've missed out on though...

CorianderLord · 28/09/2020 00:10

@BrightYellowDaffodil we still have raves now you know... old buildings, out in fields etc.

CorianderLord · 28/09/2020 00:14

@Howdidweenduphere google empathogenesis - that's what you missed.

It was water that killed poor Leah.. A complete tragedy.

The Dutch have it right...Pill testing and education re 'safer use'.

''Thou shalt not' never works on the curious.

70 yr olds use weed now for pain, and fair play to them.

Really explains a lot about your generation to me a lot of the replies on this thread Hmm

seayork2020 · 28/09/2020 00:18

Wouldn't be cheaper to use a mix of chemicals found under your kitchen sink or in your laundry?

borntohula · 28/09/2020 00:19

I was too young to experience that part of the 90s but it looked fun. 🤷 Although I've just given my DD the 'drugs can be extremely dangerous' talk this evening.

What generation is that? Drug use covers all ages.... my very responsible parents ate Afghan hash cookies, and loads of people prefer drugs on a weekend to booze.

Booze is brutal. And much more damaging than any drug. {nicotine apart}

ghostyslovesheets · 28/09/2020 00:23

Meh my generation where pretty awesome thanks

Toseland · 28/09/2020 00:26

This is why you are missing it, the joy and camaraderie, I don’t know where this quote is from but it sums it up for me -
“Why do I rave?
Because for a short while, a few hours, there are no problems.
The floor becomes a paradise where all are welcomed and none are judged.
It allows me to see the world the way it should be seen.“
Where’s the party?
:)

oakleaffy · 28/09/2020 00:26

The very sensible Prof Nutt wrote that E use is no more dangerous than horse riding.

DumplingsAndStew · 28/09/2020 00:28

Wouldn't do it now, but God, that was a great time of life. To be so young and fearless.

Not sure how I'd cope if my kids were to do the same, mind.

RaisinGhost · 28/09/2020 00:48

I never went to many parties but the few I went to - yep just as you've all said. What an amazing experience.

I hate when people go on about the thoughts they've had on drugs (especially when currently high and you aren't!) but it really did make me think differently and sometimes I can still tap in to that feeling of empathy and understanding. I try to do it if I've had an argument with a friend or my partner.

RaisinGhost · 28/09/2020 00:50

I actually have one mdma cap left in the freezer I bought 5 years ago! Embarrassing but I haven't gone anywhere suitable to use it in that time. Does it go off?

LockdownLump · 28/09/2020 00:53

Wouldn't do it now, but my late trens and early 20's, well, I had a simply wonderful time.

ViciousJackdaw · 28/09/2020 00:55

Waves at all the Scousers! Would usually start at Baa Bar, perhaps Mello Mello then onto either Voodoo or Nation when there was a Bugged Out night. Used to love a Gary or three!

crackofdoom · 28/09/2020 01:06

(whispers) Sometimes I still go partying.........It's still out there, you know. As a single mum, I have every other weekend off, and I seem to have as much stamina as I ever did Wink

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 28/09/2020 01:11

God yes! Meeting up at the service station to wait for someone to tell us which field/trading estate/abandoned warehouse the rave was in. Dancing as the sun came up. The music, the dancing, the love!
I stick the old choons on every now and then, but I wouldn’t be tempted again, honestly don’t think my heart would stand it!

Enrico · 28/09/2020 01:17

Yeah I'm too old now and worried I couldn't take it.

That feeling tho' ... I've long said that if I make it to 90 I'll have one last wee toot in the nursing home, what a way to go ...

Furries · 28/09/2020 01:18

Ah! Nostalgia! Some of my longest-standing friendships came about through clubbing in the 90’s, yet none of us is how many would perceive a “druggie” to be.

I miss the days of the huge outdoor epic raves. Can’t remember the names of a lot of them, but Raindance sticks in my mind. Driving miles to a huge set-up with tents etc. No one worrying about being posted on social media or what you were wearing.- just dancing the night away in some probably muddy conditions! Then the drive h9me, stopping at a service station and keeping your head down until you saw someone with very muddy footwear!

A great weekend clubbing, finished off with Strawberry Sunday. So many “named” nights in London that I can’t remember.

Haven’t done anything for years, and never would again, but think that was a very special period of time that I will always remember and never forget.

Whatdowehaveherethen · 28/09/2020 01:20

I'm a late 80's baby so it wasn't a common thing with my peers. That said, I do sometimes wish I was born earlier because it looked like you all had so much more fun. It was also a lot cleaner back then.Wink

StormBaby · 28/09/2020 01:22

The End was the best club there ever was. Nothing could ever beat it. I sobbed when it closed down.

QueenOfPain · 28/09/2020 01:35

The absolute empathy and acceptance of anyone and everyone that pills give you just can’t be matched by anything.

If there was a way to make them safe we’d really be onto something magical for humanity.

Some of the absolute best nights of my entire life have been on pills, completely unmatched. They were really good times, with some great friends, great music, feeling youthful and vibrant and completely unimaginably in love with life. I have so many songs from back in those days that I can’t bring myself to listen to now because they are so evocative that it hurts to know I will never have that intoxicating experience of youth ever again.

Walking miles home in the chilly dawn, that boundless energy to lie on the sofa in front of the woodburner... It was lovely. But not the sort of thing to do with DC around,

Now, with crippled knee my dancing days are over...but what was interesting..
1970's saw an Acid bust...{some of the best acid made re purity} and the Police said:

The ‘tripping policemen’ incident happened during the clean up operation on 3 April 1977. Three officers had worked alongside scientists to document evidence. By 3 April they had stripped the top front bedroom – the laboratory – except for the carpet which Munro had told them was heavily impregnated. On that day, they carefully rolled back the carpet and sealed it in a large polythene bag.

After this, DS Wally Dodge felt light-headed and decide he needed a bath. As he was running the water he could hear the other two officers laughing hysterically. In the bath he had the sensation that the pores of his skin were opining to embrace the warmth of the water and heard drops of water falling from his hair back in the bath. On rejoining the other officers, they decided to set off to the Angler’s Pub at Teddington Lock. By this time, they realised they were tripping. The walk along Broom Road has some pleasant sights which must have added to their enhanced enjoyment:
''When they left the pub to walk back to the house, the pavements felt soft and exquisitely carpeted. They felt full of boundless energy as if they could walk forever. Flowers and trees appeared to come to life and they saw lights cascading out of daffodils. They could hear water thundering through the drains in the street below them. Sadly this pleasant experience ended when they felt compelled to report developments, and were admitted to Kingston Hospital for observation.

Here is the acid Lab today.... the most wondrous acid made. {White House, Seymour Road, Hampton.
